Medu Vada 😀
South Indian doughnut-shaped fritters made from Urad Dal
The plan was to make them for breakfast today morning but got a little busy and couldn't make them. So made them for dinner 😀
This was my first try making Vada's at home but to my surprise, they turned out perfectly crisp from outside and fluffy from inside.
Served these hot with coconut chutney 🥥

And then one day you'll just want to press the pause button on everything going on in your life. You'll want to find that quite, secluded spot in ur house, where u can cuddle up with your favorite quilt and curl into a ball. You'll try to calm yourself down, repeating frantically that it will be alright and this too shall pass - but it doesn't get better, not really. Your throat hurts from the sobs that are choked up there, refusing to burst out. It's funny how it's difficult to cry when u really need to. Like ur heart is putting up that last fight to salvage any and every remaining traces of self-respect by not giving in and breaking down. Eventually it does, though. It crumbles slowly at first, brick by brick, until that one linchpin gives away and the whole facade disintegrates into an emotional debris that begins to suffocate you. All this doesn't show on the surface at all. Someone could be looking straight at u, and not realize the catastrophic chaos playing aloud in ur head and heart. All they'd see is a passing phase, something to get over. And you will. Sooner or later anyway; as is the law of time. But u're never going to be the same again, not at all. Could u break a piece of glass, stick it back together and call it the same? Inevitably there will be pieces that are far too damaged to be glued back together, pieces that have turned to glass-dust. Pieces that are lost in time. Pieces lost - to time.
But you know something? You are magic. For every piece lost, you create another one. You're fierce and relentless. You keep adding new facets to the diamond that your heart is. And one day, its brilliance will be blinding. You're getting there, slowly, shedding every rustic piece. So no matter how much you think you're changing, no matter how hopeless everything seems, know in ur heart that you're becoming who you're meant to be. Think what would happen if the caterpillar gave up before ever realizing what it could've been. There are tonnes of reasons to be sad and glum, but shouldn't one reason to smile be enough to light up the dark? And I refuse to believe there's nothing worth smiling for in ur life. You're alive, goddamnit! ❤︎ @midnight_diaries
