Reunited with my angel baby! 🐶 So excited to have Kiko here with me this week. It’s been awhile since he’s stayed at my apartment. I never expected him to live with my mom full time after I moved, but ultimately it ended up being the best decision for him. He gets a house, backyard, his bestie Mikey and my mama. And then he gets to enjoy a little bit of city life here with me. Best of both worlds! I definitely feel guilty all the time knowing that I can’t be with him everyday and it breaks my heart - so I am enjoying every moment that I get with my baby! 💕 #furbaby#bestie#dogsofig#natysnook#lovehim#myangel#tiedye
I’d thought I’d post an update on Dad. We are extremely grateful for the quick actions of our emergency responders. They were so helpful. Without them Dad wouldn’t be here with us. Thank you so very much. They were able to administer the TPA early enough to help. The life flight team was amazing & had him in Birmingham very quickly. The UAB Hospital ER & NSSU unit has been so helpful & nice.
They watched Dad all day yesterday making sure we didn’t have any bad reactions to the TPA. The only thing was it made his lips & cheek swell up. They gave him some medication to help lessen that. The swelling has all gone down now.
The Dr. showed us his MRI & where the stroke was located. She said it was a small one thankfully. She thinks the cause of the stroke is plaque build up & ordered tests so we can combat that.
When Dad was admitted, he couldn’t lift or move his left side. He now has more movement in his left leg & a bit in the left arm. The Dr. says this is a great sign & rehab will be able to help get movement & strength back. He will have an evaluation by rehab probably tomorrow. Then we’ll have a plan of attack. He speech is still slurred but not as bad as yesterday. The speech therapy will help with that.
We have been so touched by all of you & your outpouring of support, love & prayers. Each & everyone one of you mean the world to us. We wouldn’t be able to function without God & all of your help. We love everyone one of you!
Please keep Dad in your thoughts & prayers. He’ll need them & the strength that they give him!
PS- Nefertiti is so worried about her Daddy. She is being taken care of by my 2nd Mom Laura, Koco’s Mommy. Nefertiti keeps looking for us. She’s not even barking & that is SO not her! We’ll be going home sometime this week to get more clothes & such so she’ll be very happy to see us! Isis & Kleokatra are doing good. They are upset we are not there. Both of them are Daddy’s girls. Laura is taking care of them at our house. They will be happy when we are at home & back to normal. I don’t know what we’d do without Laura!
Happy 16th Birthday to my first born furbaby, Roxanne.
It is so difficult to watch her begin to deteriorate. Her heart is as strong as ever but her mind is beginning to tire. I miss the way she used to greet me at the door after a long day at work. I miss the "snorks" she used when she wanted attention. I miss the way she used to jump up on the couch and snuggle under my arm. I miss the long hikes in the woods -- her athleticism was unlike any other pugs I've ever known.
These days Roxanne doesn't really want to be bothered with. She may not be able to hear me when I call her name or see me very well anymore, but I hope she feels how much I love her now and always.
3.1-mile run this evening plus a warm-up and cool down with this guy. Sadly he can’t be my running buddy these days, but he can push through a short walk or two every day. It’s funny how his perseverance to keep walking no matter what pushes me to meet my goals too - no matter what I’m dealing with I can still get out there!! P.S. First “back to running” goal achieved this evening - 5k. Moving on to 10k training - race date is set for March 28, so I have to keep pushing forward!
A gentleman reached out this morning after being referred to us by a friend. He had been desperately seeking to provide relief for his precious fur baby. He mentioned he tried the brand of CBD pictures on the LEFT with NO effect at all. When I looked at what was in the dropper, my first thought was "Geez, where is the CBD oil? That looks like water!" CBD oil that is pure from the plant ranges in shades of green to golden, but NEVER clear!
Glad he is now trying our CBD oil.
