  • Ever wake up and feel like running a half marathon just because⁉️I had a GREAT run today! I was temporarily losing joy from running over the past few weeks, as I’ve been running too fast & not paying attention to pace... which is fine right now because I haven’t been in training mode. BUT, running has felt so hard lately from running too fast, and with these headaches I’ve found it hard to keep up with my running group, so I knew I needed an intervention if I wanted to be excited to start marathon training in a few weeks. Enter @c_mcrunner to save the day! She knew just what to do when I broke down on our run the other day, and set up a beeper on her Garmin today to ensure that we stayed in our desired easy range. It worked out great, I felt good the whole time, and ended up feeling accomplished and not defeated... so that’s a WIN! We even threw our arms up as if crossing a finish line when our watches hit 13.1. Yup, I’m all about celebrating EVERYTHING. 🥳 We finished the morning with breakfast at Karen’s Bakery with the crew, and now I’m off to do an open house!🏡

  • A BIT OF THOUGHT💭 Me and my bingo wings are feeling fairly positive about this week... The last few weeks have been pretty rubbish for me and I’m not really feeling the love for running or exercise for that matter... whether that’s because of a recent experience that’s spooked me somewhat or my minor niggle in my shin has bothered me more than I first thought... who knows... either way, it’s bogged me down and I’ve struggled to shake it off as Taylor Swift would say👯‍♀️ My spark is back with an enormous thanks to those around me, the running community is forever picking me up, tying my shoe laces and giving me a good boot out the door which is exactly what I need sometimes🤗 Seeing the @run_spire crew out and about, causing trouble (some more than others) is important to me... seeing the journey, the hard work and the determination to achieve goals... whatever the level and background... they are all bloody inspiring🙌🏽 Feeling pretty grateful that everything seems to be settling down and I can start to live life to the max again... Back at the gym... Back to running and I am BACK. IN. THE. GAME SWEET-CHEEKS😜 #iRunspire

  • Run4Fun trail race was just that.. ➳ FUN!! In highschool I spent many summer mornings training on this trail and it was so awesome to run it in a race setting. I took the first half pretty easy because I wasn't sure how I'd feel on the hills, but ended up feeling strong and was able to drop my pace the second half :) I ended up 1st women and 3rd overall! 🥇 Also, we totally lucked out on the weather!! For how hot it's been the past couple days, this morning ended up being perfect ➳ overcast and rainy with a rainbow overhead as the race started 🌈

I’m still loving my @mizunorunningnorthamerica #WaveSky WaveKnit 3 shoes.💛 I’m trying to rotate among 3 different shoes right now, but find myself gravitating towards these a ton. They’re sooooo cushiony due to Mizuno’s new #xpop technology, which is the most important thing for me as a long distance runner. Also, there’s a super cute grey color that I want to get next time I add in a pair to my rotation.

  • Ok listen up Linda...(hehe...always makes me giggle)! Seriously though, I see you watching me!  I can sense that little bit of curiosity about what it is that has me so damn happy, confident, focused, passionate.... I know you followed along as I shared my Summit experience.

Muggy weather, chub rub a mere 2km in, and just being knackered from a busy weekend all made it really tough. I still did 9km so I’m still on plan for the #GreatNorthRun and there was a lesson in everything - I can’t change the weather but I can wear cycling shorts (on order) and I can make sure I’ve prioritised sleep and rest in the days leading up to my long run.⠀

I am listing some frequently asked questions pertaining to post workout nutrition and supplements with their answers.

1. What form of protein is ideal to consume after an exercise session? 
Solid form or liquid protein?
Answer: 
Liquid Meal - Convenient and easily digested
Solid Meal - Low on convenience and slow to digest

You need to see convenience, digestibility and rate of absorption. On days when I’m very busy and I have to rush for work immediately after my workout, I’ll settle in for a liquid shake over a solid meal. However if I’ve trained hard and not doing much after my training session, then I’ll choose to go for a solid meal.

2. Is it necessary to consume whey protein after an exercise session?
Answer: While this may not be necessary provided you are getting enough protein throughout the day at regular intervals. However it’s just a convenient practise of feeding your body with high quality food after a good session

3. How long do I have to wait after an exercise session before I eat or drink liquid protein?
Answer: You can eat or drink immediately after training if you’re hungry. If you aren’t hungry, don’t eat or drink.

4. India brands v/s Imported brands, what do you suggest?
Answer: A brand should be favoured based on quality and taste. There are some Indian brands which are equally good and you should realise that the original raw material comes from very few companies. So an X and Y brand may be buying raw materials from the same place and difference would be only flavouring agents and combination of digestive enzymes.

5. How long do I have to take a protein shake? Can I stop taking it after some time if I feel my strength is good?
Answer - There is no timeline till when you can take a protein shake. As long as you want to provide your body with high quality nutrition in a handy and convenient manner, you should continue. If you want to stop, make sure you adjust those 40 - 50 grams of first class protein from other sources. PROTEIN SHAKES CAN STOP, BUT PROTEIN FEEDING CONTINUES FROM OTHER SOURCES.

Real Talk: Since becoming a mom almost 3 years ago I have lost my training mojo. It is easy to deprioritized my workouts in favour of almost anything else ✔️ Family time
✔️ Sleep
✔️ Postpartum Recovery/Surgery Recovery/Pregnancy #2 ✔️ Work
✔️ Friends ✔️ just doing house nonsense - cleaning, cutting the grass, laundry, etc.
I just don’t have the same time, energy, or focus I used to have. 
But I miss it! I miss racing. I miss the hard workouts. I miss that part of me. So this is is me recommitting and figuring out how fitness fits in this stage of life #startingover #postpartumfitness #furtherfasterforever
