It was a situation where I was being moved around, not even knowing where I was going; just getting away from different situations. If the rebels in the war were moving in, I was moved out. I was being sheltered from all the stuff that was going on" .

Its been an Incredible story for Boidu Sayeh who moved to Ireland 15 years ago due to ongoing war conflict in his home nation of Liberia and has gone on to be one of the stars of Westmeaths promotion to Division 2 👏 .

In their league game against Laois he marked 4 different players keeping them all scoreless 💪

  • Yesterday was Resurrection day! Hopefully this last week you reflected on the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today, get fired up because Romans 8:11 tells us that “…the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.” #GAA #motivation #instalife #motivationalmonday

  • Just a video to show I still train myself.
-
Although I’m mainly focused on improving aerobic endurance at the moment in preparation for an obstacle race in June, I’ve still being managed to balance the increase volume of cardio with my standard strength work.
-
Shown is a PR for me. A 200kg beltless squat. I followed this up with 2 sets of 180x6, & 2 sets of 160x6. Quite happy with this!
-
It can be very easy to nocebo yourself into thinking that by doing some cardio, your strength gains will tank. It’s simply not true if you’re intelligent with your programming. The devil is in the dose & the details.

  • Naomh Éanna u16 hurlers continued their good start to the season with a hard fought 1-15 to 2-11 away win against Na Magha.

Naomh Éanna were four up at half time with the Glengormley Gaels getting off to a blistering start.

Conor Bradley chipped in with a great goal which was volleyed into the top corner with great precision.
They should’ve been further ahead but the strong Derry side showed real grit and determination to peg Naomh Éanna back to with in a point.

The final quarter of the game was extremely exciting and it looked all but over with Naomh Éanna four points ahead with three minutes of injury time played when Na Magha pulled back a goal to make it a nervy last few moments.
Goal scorer Conor Bradley.

  • One of my favorite plays from last year’s championship. No 24 picks up a great position but the second pass had to be a left-sided play with pace to beat defenders. #GAA #play #galway #kildare

  • Following on from my previous post, I would encourage all coaches and team players to have a think about the language they use when communicating with their players.

My sport is Gaelic. How often have you heard the phrases:
- Bend your back (Can you bend your back?)
- Mind your house
- Tuck in
- Press
- Track
- Let the ball in
- Maintain
- Be a sweeper

Do all players know what these phrases mean? How do you know? Have you made it clear?

Very often, particularly in #LGFA and #GAA there are transitions every season where younger players move up to play with senior players. Often they are confused by the language that is used on the sideline but are not vocal enough to make it known that they don’t understand.
Check in with your players. Ask questions to ensure they understand.

  • The bank holiday weekend brought with it some great weather. With great weather comes even greater temptations. Engaging in those temptations lead to experiences and experiences end up as fond memories. .
We think it’s very important to promote the idea of attaining a healthy balance and harmony between your fitness endeavours and your lifestyle.
.
However, The summer is only getting started and there will be plenty more to deal with
.
If you wake up with the guilt of a weekend gone by, are annoyed at yourself for yet another weekends poor choices and overindulgence,
now, enter into this week with the need to be overly restrictive & trying to BURN off everything from the last weekend.
.
Then maybe it’s time to stop spinning your wheels & invest in a Coach to create a plan so you can enjoy your summer guilt free.
.
Results take time, but most people are still stuck playing the short game.
.
11 signs you might be playing the short game are:-
.
1) You worry about how many calories you burn in a session, yet you don’t track your calorie intake because its too much effort.
2) You rate a good session by how much you sweat
3.)You track calories during the week to a “T” but go OFF THE RAILS at the weekends,
4) You train 5 or 6+ times a week because you “LOVE TRAINING” but are still not happy with your results
5) You train 5 or 6+ times a week but you HATE training, yet are still unhappy with your results
6) You think you have a SLOW Metabolism but don’t track your calories.
7) You still tell people you love food too much to be in shape.
8) You’re not a qualified personal trainer but think you know enough and are too proud to ask for help.
9) You focus more on training hard than your diet.
10) You base your progress in the gym on "feeling" rather than actual progress.
11) You don’t have a plan to achieve your goals.
.
None of these are anything to laugh or belittle someone over, but it can be frustrating at times to hear so many people struggle to find a balance, yet won’t Invest wisely in themselves and their health.

It will be the 1st time I'll be using our new vantage point telescopic tripod (Adrian had his vantage point on show last night). This allows us video games from an elevation of 18 feet offering a more complete picture of build up play and movement.#GAA #corkgaa2019 #corksoccer #videography #fitnesstesting

  • Harop Curls - this is a great exercise to put some time under tension in the hamstrings. A lot of athletes we deal with struggle with Nordic curls & these are a decent regression to start with. The further you go the more the knee extends, which makes the hamstring contraction increase. Be honest of where you are - time under tension is important.
•
Lock your feet under something sturdy & engage the glutes. Try to get as low to the floor as you move out as far as possible. We love this variation to really bullet proof the hamstrings. Tag somebody who you think could benefit from the above drill. #gaa #hamstrings #m101
