  • Also I missed #nationalcomingoutday but just wanted to acknowledge the complexity, beauty and pain that exists in “being out” and having your narrative/existence controlled by the perspective of others. Queer and Non-binary people are often told we live in a fantasy and that we are not trans or xyz but the binary and the expectation we must all fall into it, is the biggest fantasy there is. I love my community, those who are “out” or not- you’re valid and a manifestation of resistance. 📸 @transnormativity i love you non-binary fam 💕💕 this day was so beautiful and intimate.

  • me on the phone talking about you cause you made an assumption about somebody’s pronouns. hello! Today is #internationalpronounsday ! Remember to not make assumptions about people’s pronouns and ask! When you make an assumption about someone’s pronouns, you are essentially making the decision for them and not giving them the freedom they deserve and telling them that you know better. People assume my pronouns frequently and misgender me as She, which is a pronoun I do not use. Please just ask! Condition yourself to not make assumptions. Normalize things like putting your pronouns in your bio on your social media. And practice! If you mess up, don’t seek an apology, that makes it about you! #pronouns #trans #transisbeautiful #lgbtqia #lgbt #nonbinary #genderqueer

  • Larry Kramer (born June 25, 1935) is an American playwright, author, film producer, public health advocate, and LGBT rights activist. He began his career rewriting scripts while working for Columbia Pictures, which led him to London where he worked with United Artists. There he wrote the screenplay for the 1969 film Women in Love (1969) and earned an Academy Award nomination for his work. Kramer introduced a controversial and confrontational style in his novel Faggots (1978), which earned mixed reviews and emphatic denunciations from elements within the gay community for Kramer's one-sided portrayal of shallow, promiscuous gay relationships in the 1970s.
Kramer witnessed the spread of the disease later known as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) among his friends in 1980. He co-founded the Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC), which has become the world's largest private organization assisting people living with AIDS. Kramer grew frustrated with bureaucratic paralysis and the apathy of gay men to the AIDS crisis, and wished to engage in further action than the social services GMHC provided. He expressed his frustration by writing a play titled The Normal Heart, produced at The Public Theater in New York City in 1985. His political activism continued with the founding of the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP) in 1987, an influential direct action protest organization with the aim of gaining more public action to fight the AIDS crisis. ACT UP has been widely credited with changing public health policy and the perception of people living with AIDS (PWAs), and with raising awareness of HIV and AIDS-related diseases. Kramer has been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for his play The Destiny of Me (1992), and he is a two-time recipient of the Obie Award. -Wikipedia (artwork by @elijah.haswell)

  • The story about my LGBT childhood 🏳️‍🌈🌈
.
I’m 5 years old. I go to kindergarten. In kindergarten I like music lessons, aquarium and girl S.

I’m 9 years old. I'm in the third grade. In our class transferred several new kids, including a girl K. I love her smile, carefully keep her photo and write in my diary that I dream to be friends with her.

I’m 10 years old. I'm in the fourth grade. Girls talk about which boys they like. I like the boy V. We chat about all sorts of things and give each other gifts on February 14.

I’m 10 yo. I tell my mom I should have been born a boy. I read adventure books, refuse to wear skirts and dream of becoming a sailor.

I’m 14 yo. I moved in 8 grade in a new school. There's a lot of great persons. I like the G., he's similar to the protagonist of adventure books and I'm glad when he comes to me for help with homework.

I’m 14. I discover about transgender people. I'm glad I find the word. I call myself agender because I don't feel like a girl or a boy. The word "person" suits me best.

I’m 15. I'm in 9 grade. I love A. I finally know what "butterflies in the stomach" means. In A. I will in love with almost year and will devote her several tens of poems.

I'm 16. Gender dysphoria kicks my ass, I suffer from depression. I start to use "he/him" pronouns, dream about transition and cry at night because of the pain of having this body. I call myself a transgender boy.

I'm 17. The become a chronic part of me. I discover the term "nonbinary" and understand that it's about me. I curse binary toilets, get silly questions like, "Are you a boy or a girl?" and dream about a gender-neutral world.

I'm 18. I know I can fall in love with people without dividing them into men and women. I call myself pansexual. It's been with me since I was a kid and I take it as part of me.

I'm 20 now. I'm still dealing with my gender identity, but right now it's more like an interesting journey. I am a trans*masculine genderqueer. I'm teetering between acceptance of myself and dysphoria and still looking for the transition that will suit me.

  • Final piece of Halloween costume acquired. I think it may be all the time I’m putting in at @barmethodtustin, but these are easier to walk in than I remember. It’s going to be a good October. #barrebear
