  • Trying to find a decent “before” pic is HARD. Don’t get me wrong I have a lot of them, the problem is it’s hard to see what my body looked like before because I wore such baggy clothes!!! That’s the sad part. I always wore looser fitting clothes to hide myself. I never wore anything tight. And if I did it was layers on layers of tanks to “suck me in”, (looking back that didn’t work lol).

But we can also use those baggy clothes as a metaphor. Wanting to hide from other people because I didn’t like how I looked. Feeling insecure being around people who were “thinner” than me. I was already a shy person, so going to parties was hard enough. Now add in the need to “impress” guys and look a certain way (this was back in college), was draining and just upsetting. Always seeing the “pretty” girls and I’m just over in the corner...

Flash forward to my fitness journey. Boy have I learned a lot. This me is way more outgoing, confident, and has an IDGAF attitude and I’ll do what I want because it makes me happy. I don’t need to “impress” anyone but myself. I’m so much happier and more confident. Sure, some of that could be related to just growing up, but if I didn’t start taking care of my health, I don’t think I’d be where I am. In fact I know I wouldn’t be.

Now, I feel good in my clothes. Now, I HATE layering, and back in the day that’s all I did. I’m taking pictures in a sports bra, which I NEVER thought I’d be comfortable doing. I’m actually comfortable taking pictures in a bikini at the beach. That’s a huge accomplishment for me.

All I’m saying is change is a good thing. You deserve to feel good about yourself. It’s important to be happy, confident, and love yourself. Just be you, and life will always be good.

  • Sleep😴- One thing that is absolutely necessary for survival and improving quality of life/health.⁣ ⁣
And before you say well I sleep 5 hours and I’m fine? Subjectively you may feel ok, objectivity not so much!  7-9 hours is where we want to be 🛏 ⁣

Everyone has different goals and needs in life so here are just a few different categories you could relate to:⁣
⁣
💪🥑Body composition- We see an increase in ghrelen (hormone which makes us hungry) and decreases in leptin (hormone that tells you your full) with sleep loss. We are then fighting a losing battle through increases in apetite and hunger, decreases in the desire to be more active while also experiencing impaired decision making=poor food choices!⁣
⁣
🏋️‍♂️🏃‍♂️Sport/Gym Performance- Lack of sleep will decrease peak muscle strength, endurance, aerobic capacity, running speed and vertical jump height. Before looking to change your gym program, diet, or buy a new supplement, look to sleep- its the greatest legal performance enhancing drug!⁣

📖 ✍️ Work/Study- factors such as memory, cognitive function, attention and motor skills are all impaired following sleep deprivation!⁣
⁣
🤕🚑 Injuries- across a season research has found a liner relationship with the less sleep you have, the higher the injury risk. Once an injury has occurred sleep is a important role in recovery!⁣
⁣
😁🧘‍♂️Overall Health- a single night of sleep deprivation will see a 70% decrease in natural killer cells which supports a big link between lack of sleep and cancer. Further 1 night of sleep dept can cause insulin resistance similar to a type 2 diabetic⁣

While there are many more I could go on to list just seeing those points must stress the importance of sleep. The next question is what strategies do you use for a good nights sleep ?

  • I became a Physical Therapist because I believe that we should all live our life to the fullest. Nothing should stand in the way of a person having a great life, especially a disability.

God gave you one body. Honor it by moving it in every way possible. Run, walk hop, skip, squat, lift. Don't stop. Don't stop until you don't have the ability anymore.

Linus Johansson is one of Swedens top CrossFit athletes, Regionals competitor and longtime CLN Athletics Ambassador so, it came natural to us to pay him a visit at his local box CrossFit Borgen to take the upcoming products our first men´s Spring/ Summer drop for a test workout out 🏋️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We spent half a day talking, filming and of course throwing down some heavy weights with Linus and the result is a 3 part mini-series! Check out our Instagram stories for a first teaser and a chance to ask Linus your most burning questions 👊

  • Classes for tomorrow. With a choice of 6 there are plenty to choose from! We have SHRED, L.A.B., CORE, FLOW, L.A.B. AND H.I.I.T. No excuses just results. Who will I see tomorrow. There are classes early and mid morning as well as in the afternoon. Change Starts Now!

Would love to see some new faces. Classes are hard work but you will be with a great group of people with similar goals. Motivate eachother and meet some new gym goers.
