Earlier this year focus on new work for the CROSS POLLINATION SERIES had me gearing up to offer them online & I’d even starting getting a few orders when everything shifted to accomodate new deadlines in another direction.
I’m therefore pleased to have a chance to put up this series ready for tomorrow night’s opening. .
Today two very experienced male artists helped with the install as well as #bfac coordinator/curator @alicia.sharples who was moving between downstairs galleries & the #residencystudiospace overseeing the direction in play. .
I proposed a #salonhanging for the #paintedblack feature wall to accomodate the numbers of small & varied works I brought to show. .
No time for photos of what eventuated yet. The day was long yet over in a flash!
And it was a somewhat challenging hang as it turned out... anyone who manages to attend will possibly appreciate why. The temporary back walls and the numbers of small works to choose from had us on our toes!
But cull we did... thankyou John... and hopefully at first sight in the morning I’ll not feel inclined to start shifting things around again as I am so typically keen to do! .
Here’s to the collaborative hanging process. Thankyou to the wonderful team 🙏🏼💙🦋
Stay tuned for photos of what survived the elimination process!
Beyond Certainty's #eventprofs are at the Venues & Events Live Show 2019 @vandelive@oldbillingsgate exploring a world filled with unlimited creativity, inspiration and ideas for planning and managing your next event.
A lot has happened so far in 2019. Hahaha And I feel like I probably haven’t even told you the HALF of it 😜
But one thing has not changed; I still play the music.
I don’t always take the time I should for it, for myself, to just let it fall out of my fingers, but on Sundays my skills are needed and I sit here and make stuff sound cool.
Which is an alright skill to have, eh?
As with any skill one acquires, I get rusty if I’m not playing regularly. Playing on Sundays keeps that from happening. Keeps my sight-reading skills somewhat functional hahaha Keeps my fingers from locking up. I’m glad I have this “job.” Keeps me doing something I love to do, that I often forget to take the time out to do.
The kids are presenting 7 songs to the congregation next week hahaha It’s going to be adorable. But I should probably perfect a couple of these pieces by then... whoops.
Do you have any hidden talents? What are they??
We’ve been baby-free for two days now and one of the things that we’re taking full advantage of is eating out...and enjoying it. Because, you know, when you have a child at a restaurant, you no longer get to listen to the waitress’ beautifully rehearsed monologue about how sustainable their cooking practices are or how they’re a no-waste, farm-to-table kitchen...let alone savor every delicious flavor in the dish.
Yeah, we’re doing all of that. And we also just might be coming up with a cute baby name for #2 in the process...
Do you dread the blank page or embrace it? Truth be told, we all experience #creativeblock from time to time, and the feeling is not great.😔
Here are 5 tips to help you face the blank page with confidence and “fill it with the breathings of your heart.”
1.) START. “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” #startsomewhere
2.) STEP AWAY. Take a break - go for a walk, explore nature or do something different from what you’re trying to do. #clearyourhead
3.) MIND MAPPING. Get a notebook and capture ideas as they come to you; connect the dots later. #rhodiumminesnotebook
4.) SEEK INSPIRATION. No matter what you’re trying to do, someone somewhere must have done something similar. Take inspiration from their work. #dontcopy
5.) NEVER FORGET tip number ONE! #juststart
Have a great day!✨

I don't think I've ever had an interview that didn't include the question, 'Where do you get your ideas?' This is a fairly common question, and I'm sure every writer can relate.⠀
It's not easy to answer. 'I don't really know.' or 'I just make things up,' sound like totally inadequate answers. Sure, many of my ideas are influenced by things I see or read, but I don't have a formula for producing stellar ideas. Ideas just happen.⠀
For me, my go-to answer has always been 'I get them from everywhere,' and then I'll give a few examples of new stories or pictures that have influenced my ideas.⠀
Check out Neil Gaiman's essay on this topic. He explains his answer and gives great points about why the question itself isn't really that important.⠀

Do you struggle to answer this question?⠀
To find the soul in a matter, find the thought at the heart of the meaning.
Cowberries - colour study, aquarelle (23.4 x 16.5 cm)
In the evening I had a thought about learning: it is based on the fact that in practice, de facto, you do not remember all the details, but you remember the idea.
This same idea could also be used in painting. Forget all irrelevant, remember the idea! The thought at the heart of the meaning. What is the most clearest, simple and fundamental idea behind everything; that is what needs to be grabbed. Only then have you found the soul of a matter.
All the rest is just a reflection and timely changes of that one simple thought in the beginning.
What a fantastic day. I couldn’t ask for more. 23km, 1.500hm, three summits and nothing but sun. It was a great hike with all that I like - climbing, ridge hiking and high altitude. I just love the feeling when I’m getting physical tired and my thoughts start wandering. I get so many ideas - for me it is a lot more effective than meditation. Glad I had my notebook with me. @andy_raab we need to meet 😃 ‘cause I have a lot of ideas.
Dream beyond what already exists. 😌💭 The best products that captivate minds and change lives are made when the creators imagine what hasn’t been done yet. 🧠
This isn’t always easy. We live in a world full of distractions (the one in your hand📱being the main one!) and it’s natural to want to look at what everyone else is doing. 👀
Don’t get me wrong, it’s smart to know your market and know your customers as you create a product they will love. But don’t let yourself get stuck following trends and mimicking what already exists. You can do better! 💪
Look within yourself. Isolate yourself. Trust yourself. What do you love? What is something in that world you personally would want to buy? How can you put your own spin on it and make it better? 🔥

Is it even bank holiday if you don’t pay a visit to @homesense_ukie and contemplate changing your entire colour scheme?! Loved this little couch for our open plan kitchen/living room but it’s not quite the right shade of pink I’m after 🙄
I think there might be a chef and a baker living in this house based on the sheer volume of cookbooks 😊 sat pouring over them tonight for inspiration for dinners and weekend bakes after what’s felt like an age without baking and mainly eating the same old stuff week in week out! #bookcasegoals#bakersbooks#chefsbooks#kitchen#gettingideas
