  • I frequently get fitness related questions, and I thought I might as well share my answers on Instagram too for learning purposes.
-
Q) What happens if one stops taking whey protein, will there be any side effects?
-
A) No, there won’t be side effects. Whey is just a protein source. For example, 40g whey is around 30g protein and 150g chicken breast is also around 30g protein. I would recommend using the latter as a protein source though, because it makes you feel stuffed way faster than a liquid shake (this is handy especially when you are trying to lose weight).
-
I only recommend using whey if you are vegan or have another reason to struggle with your daily protein intake or you are going on a holiday (your daily protein intake should be your weight in kilograms * 1.5 ~ 2 ).
Otherwise whey is a waste of money in my opinion.

  • I am actually quite a bit Irish, my moms maiden name was McCarl: Irish as fuck 🍀.
.
I naturally have a lot of freckles and a ton of red in my hair.
My face actually grows freckles if I get sun on it.
.
I won’t be celebrating St. Patrick’s day unfortunately since I have to work.
So have some corn beef and cabbage (my favorite) and a green beer for me 🙌🏻
Stay safe y’all!!

  • Just had a fantastic shoot with a young athlete called Sichun and what a great day it was..... Sichun, you are welcome back here anytime friend, you are a polite, well mannered and very nice young man..... massive respect for being like this in today's world..... old school values mean a lot to me.

Sichun brought some very cool ideas to the studio today and the afternoon flew by. We shot this image very early in the day and it put a huge smile on both our faces.

Thank you Alex, humbly appreciate your kind influence as always my man.

  • Pull up progression #1: How to get your first pull up. 💪
.
HANG IN THERE.. Literally. 😁
.
A large amount of the difficulty of pull-ups comes from being able to keep your body hanging from the bar throughout the entire movement.
.
This requires a strong grip, as well as stabiliser muscles in the arms and shoulders.
.
This first step you should take is to build up this strength by practicing hanging from the pull-up bar. Depending on where you are at progress wise, you should take a different approach to this.
.
If you are a complete beginner, then you should practice holding yourself on the bar for 5-10 seconds at a time. Do this several times or until you get fatigued. Once you build up this practice, you will be able to increase the number of sets you do, as well as the time you are able to hang.
.
After this, you should aim to try and hang from the bar for as long as you possibly can.
.
Now, I don’t mean until you get a little tired; you should hang from the bar until you physically cannot any longer and you fall off!
.
Take 60-90 seconds rest and repeat this. After you have practised this for a couple of weeks, you should aim to shorten the rest period, aiming for around 30 seconds.
.
Good Luck!! 😘
