Ready for @slipknot last night 🤘🏼 The pits were mental, I wasn’t even moshing and was getting knocked about left, right, from every angle 😆 What a gig. I’ve never seen queues like it before to enter a venue - every time you thought you were almost in, you’d snake round a new corner and realise there were still at least 100 more people in front. We thought we’d be in 20 mins before they came on stage and only made it in just in time for the first song.
Metal is without a doubt my favourite genre and such an important part of my life now (it’s literally what gets me off my ass and to the gym most days 😂), but 10 years ago I don’t think I could have even named a Metallica song. Audioslave was probably the only metal/hard rock band I really knew anything about and liked from about the age of 15 (I mean, Chris Cornell’s voice ... 💔). At the time I was exposed to a lot of house, pop and 90’s r&b and so those genres formed most of my musical preferences. Jarv is the one who introduced me to the world of metal and grunge (still not hugely into punk or ska though, despite his attempts to indoctrinate me 😅). I can’t imagine us not enjoying the same music now - going to gigs is such an integral part of our lifestyle, even dictating some of our travels. Last summer, at least 4 of the destinations we visited were mainly to see some of our favourite bands and those were all amazing trips.
Has your taste in music changed over time?
Tomorrow I am leaving for Baltimore
You think I act like Harry Potter
Like you're Voldemort
I don't care what you said
You didn't mean it like I did
Don't even start with me
Turn up the heat, turn up the heat
Or get out the kitchen
You're like vegan cheese!
Try as I might, you never melt for me
It wasn't quite as funny at the time
