Curious facts: Sea glass and beach glass are similar but come from two different types of water. "Sea glass" is physically and chemicallyrocks found on beaches along bodies of salt water. These weathering processes produce natural frosted glass. "Genuine sea glass" can be collected as a hobby and is used for decoration, most commonly in jewelry. "Beach glass" comes from fresh water and in most cases has a different pH balance and a less frosted appearance than sea glass. Sea glass takes 20 to 40 years, and sometimes as much as 100 years, to acquire its characteristic texture and shape. It is also colloquially referred to as "Drift glass" from the longshore drift process that forms the smooth edges. In practice, the two terms are used interchangeably.[Wikipedia]

  • So mom and I wake up at the crack of dawn and head down to the beach at low tide...We find this patch full of yellow beauties, and we couldn’t believe our eyes. Later we realized that these are white pieces that were “dyed” yellow by the algae in the tidepools haha🤦‍♀️ We thought they still counted as yellow seaglass because nature transformed them 💛💛💛 Back from Fort Bragg now, what a fun little vacay! Last travel tip- Go to D’Aurelio’s for 🍕 , it was so yummy (thanks for the tip @weswill32! 😊)

  • I set out to find my first Fort Bragg marble today, and I did it! 🤗 I always find my best treasures sitting on top of the sand, my ADD gets in the way of me sitting in one place and digging 😂 A few other tips for anyone planning a visit here: Eat breakfast at David’s, it’s delish 🍳Check out the seaglass museum, although I know many of you may have feelings about the glass they sell to seed the beaches 😲 The botanical garden was beautiful, walk on the trail to the bluffs for some gorgeous views 🌸
