  • "I am a recreational cyclist, martial artist, hiker, swimmer, yogi and training, addressing weaknesses or imbalances in the gym rather, makes all of these activities safer and more enjoyable. I am going to be 40 this year.  I wanna say that my goal is to be in the best shape of my life and to celebrate conquering all of my physical setbacks (ie. injuries and surgeries). I became passionate about fitness in 2001, after I rehabbed through a shoulder dislocation and got my personal trainer/medical exercise specialist certificate. I realized early on that movement is medicine and I used this philosophy during my career to not only nurture and build resilience in myself but also in hundreds of clients and students worldwide.  I think during my previous years, I worked out because I was never satisfied with myself. I didn’t feel good enough and wanted to be a better version of myself. That is pretty stressful over the long term because there is no limit to that. As in, no matter how good you make yourself, you can always be better. 
I think now, my workouts are more of a celebration of my strength and self love. I still want to improve myself on a daily basis, but it is not rooted in a philosophy of self-depreciation. Fitness has been a cornerstone to keeping me happy, healthy and strong. It has given me the gift of athleticism, knowledge and allowed me a skill to help empower others. I have had so many amazing adventures worldwide because of my fitness. 
To anyone beginning your fitness journey...build the habit. The majority of success stories include showing up. If you are consistent then you have the opportunity to make adjustments based on prior workouts, learn about what you are doing and become more in tune with your environment. The body needs gradual levels of external stressors to change and this is only possible with consistency.  Always feel good about your efforts to take care of yourself even on lower energy days.

  • When you have more space in your hotel room than the actual gym.. wtf lol so glad I can take my workouts on the go and with minimal space! No joke the widest spot in that gym was less than 2ft 🙄. ⠀

I myself used to struggle with this when I first started lifting, & I know a majority of people struggle with activating their glutes before and/or during their workouts too.⁣
Without proper activation and exercise selection, it results in no real glute progress over time. 👎🏼⁣⁣

When you want to build a strong & sexy backside, you have to do a lot more than just squats, machine exercises, & kickbacks... Your glutes are a very large muscle that need to be worked frequently with a variety of reps, sets, angles, resistance, tension, tempos & more! 🔥⁣⁣

  • Today was a rough day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My mindset wasn't great. My body hurt. I felt hurt by things I shouldn't be hurt by. I couldn't control my anxious thoughts. My spirit just felt cracked.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I could not tell you the why behind this because I honestly don't know. Maybe it is the frustration of slow recovery. Maybe it is the feeling of the end of April (teachers feel me here). Or maybe it is just one of those days.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was sitting in PT feeling heavy with inadequacy, frustration, and just hurt when I realized I needed to not demonize those feelings but rather acknowledge them and work through them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have to be able to say, "How I feel right now in this moment is NOT who I am. This feeling of inadequacy does not make me, as a person, inadequate. My spirit may feel cracked right now but it will not always feel like this."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I will do what I need to do to feel lighter and to calm the anxious thoughts within me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I share this today not for pity or sympathy but as a reminder that it is O K A Y to admit to yourself that your spirit feels heavy or that things just feel off. Acknowledge its presence and do what you need to do to work through it. But just know you are not alone in that feeling.

Know who you’re talking to when you create content. Speak directly to your ideal client with every post. Don’t know who your ideal client is? Start there.⠀

2️⃣ Be authentic and genuine!⠀

Write the same way that you would speak. You want to show your personality in your content, so it should sound like you. People will buy from you because they like your personality! No one wants to buy from a prim and proper robot, so don’t be one. 😝⠀

3️⃣ EDUCATE. INSPIRE. POLARIZE. PERSONALIZE.⠀

There are four types of content that you should be creating on a regular basis.⠀
