When I look at this picture I find it hard to believe it is me. I still have this image of myself at my top weight of 283 pounds. I was a little apprehensive about wearing this dress. I worried if it accented my most noticeable features. I talked myself down and convinced myself my dress was appropriate. I am still discovering me mentally, physically and spiritually. I am still learning how to eat. My mind tries to convince me I can eat like I once did and my stomach will not allow it.
I rely on tools to help me make assessments. I use a mirror or camera to assess my looks. I use my stomach to assess when I have eaten enough. You may think, doesn’t everyone use their stomach. You see there was a time in my life when my mind overruled my stomach. I would eat until my emotions and my mind were at ease. The tool I have now causes me to stop and acknowledge why I’m eating. I use the Holy Spirit and the word of God to assess my spiritual needs. This is the most important to me because the Spirit of God is what stabilizes me.
I reminded myself today that I am so much more than what meets my eyes. I am trying to discover more and more about this women everyday so I can become her and she become me. #healthyspirit#mentalhealthawareness#growthmindset#healthybody#blogger#gastricbypass#gastricsleevesurgery#lifestyleblogger#lifecoachforwomen#lifecoach#blacksocialworkers#blackgirlmagic#goodmentalhealthforall#goodnight#goodmentalhealth#mindset#mindfulness
‘Every strong person has their struggles’. This is a statement that came to me when I was thinking about the number of people I think ‘wow, they’ve got it all’, or ‘they are so confident, they are so strong’ and struggling to imagine they have any problems when really every single person has problems/struggles. 1 in 3 people will struggle with mental health issues which is shocking but also comforting - you are not alone. If you think someone has the perfect life, remember we all struggle sometimes, and if you’re struggle try to be brave and tell someone. You may be surprised to find they actually have similar experiences. I hope anyone who managed or will attend one of the events at the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival #smhaf19 has been inspired. I hope one day I can make a positive difference the way so many others do. #mentalhealthscotland#goodmentalhealthforall#mentalhealthawareness#lovelettering#letteringlifestyle#customlettering#customtype#iftheycanyoucan#typtopia#strongperson#introvertstruggles
Let’s change the way we think about managing our mental health. Being proactive is preventative, we is it we seem to only seek help as a reaction when things become a real struggle?
Let me know if you agree....

Head in turmoil from all the information over the past few days, so I took myself for a run through the city this morning. Cue raindrops, which was fine. Kind of made me feel at home and it’s pretty difficult for Copenhagen to look grim even on the greyest of days. Cue nosebleed. Not so ideal. Particularly as I was sheltering (tissueless) in a bus stop looking down at my phone trying to compose previous post on the @copenhagenfashionsummit when the flood began. Cue the kindest cafe owner who took pity, plied me with their entire supply of kitchen roll and a free mug of tea.
Now imagine the weird/angry looks I’m getting as I determinedly walk through the streets in the now pouring rain, with a few near-miss cyclist collisions (I always forget about the 🚲 lanes) blood spattered and soaked through.
Cue arrival at @groedcph where what feels like the city’s entire population of uber cool porridge eaters seem to have gathered and clearly think I’m certified insane as I rock in, completely drenched with my bloody nose and wad of scraggy loo roll.
So no pressure porridge. But you better be worth it. 😋
And sorry about the overshare, but because it’s mental health awareness week, I thought it important to tell the full story behind these crazy squares. And in the spirit of #goodmentalhealthforall we’d love to see you this Sunday for brunch at the shop with a delicious #vegan menu devised by @alicemackinnon1985 and coffee from @federationcoffee with proceeds going to @mindcharity
Pay how you feel. Link to tickets in bio. #mentalhealthawareness#fromwhereisit

Our Young Company meet every Saturday morning to shake off the week (good or bad) and get stuck into doing an activity that they love! This lot leave their troubles at the door and spend 90 minutes moving, acting and sometimes even singing their socks off, then they go off into the rest of the weekend feeling positive. Do something you love this mental health awareness week! #mentalhealthawarenessweek#bebodykind#goodmentalhealthforall

With 13-19 May being Mental Health Awareness week, @business_mix_ are supporting the cause - we simply couldn't be stronger advocates of mental health being just as important as physical fitness. Working with Founders & CEO's of start-up and scaling companies, we constantly see the strain growing a business puts on the people behind the badge. Long hours carrying the weight of endeavour alone, coupled with the constant drain in emotional energy, quickly takes its toll.
To support our scaling companies, business mix are proud to offer a Founder Protection Programme designed to provide support where it is really needed. #goodmentalhealthforall
Order your green ribbon to raise awareness and support good mental health for all. All proceeds go towards their vital work, focused on finding and addressing the sources of mental health problems. #goodmentalhealthforall#mentalillnessawarenessweek2019
Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week 2019...this year's theme is Body Image - How we think and feel about our bodies.
Why do you think Body Image is so important? Why does it have an impact on our mental health?
We would like to invite you, as part of this week, to post one picture of yourself when you have felt most 'body confident'...this can be a recent snap or something from way back...we'd like to encourage future generations to feel body confident always! We'll be posting our own across the week and revealing what our Girls Group have been working on! Keep an eye out for updates :-) #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek2019#Bebodykind #goodmentalhealthforall
Accepting this form of illness (and any other one) is probably one of the hardest truths to deal with especially when you have to show up for clinic visits, take medications and attend therapy sessions.
