  • Girls, real talk.⁣⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⠀
Where do you find your confidence?⁣⠀
In the pic you posted to get his attention?⁣⠀
In the outfit you've put together so the girls will say "you look cute!?"⁣⠀
In topping your class so your parents will say "well done."?⁣⠀
In working your tail off at your fancy corporate job to get that promotion?⁣⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⠀
We can place our identity in all of these things and become more "confident" when people give us the praise we so desire.⁣⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⠀
But I think this confidence is shallow because underneath it lies a bed of insecurity.⁣⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⠀
Find true confidence in Christ. Knowing that He loves you and there's nothing you can do to earn that love changes everything. Walk with your head up high in that confidence today. ❤️⁣⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⠀
Tag your friends. 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼⁣⠀

  • I had a serious wake-up call last week. (I bounced back…🤣but I ran FULL STEAM AHEAD into a wall called “exhaustion + stress.”)
♡
I’m learning a LOT about balance, rest, and saying “no” right now. I wanted to keep it real with you guys. Last week I got close to a burnout. I hadn’t rested or taken a day off in a solid 3-4 months. I was pushing ahead, pedal to the metal, and ignoring any signs of exhaustion. I broke down crying in my Airbnb last week. I was so overwhelmed with my workload and the schedule in front of me for the next few months.
♡
I processed through it with God, my mama (God bless her), and my bestie (holla @mrslindeyroman) and walked away stronger than ever. I took 2 FULL DAYS OFF this past weekend (Sat AND Sun whaaattt) + did nothing but rest. It was SO needed. I’m learning that trying to press through exhaustion won’t actually get you anywhere. Sometimes, allowing yourself to rest + breathe will allow you to work better. Sometimes it’s just plain counterproductive to try to press through. For this workaholic over here, that’s a hard pill to swallow. But man, it was a good lesson to learn.
♡
Here’s a practical tip that I started implementing during the 2ish weeks I was SO stressed. I honestly neverrrrr get stressed like that. I don’t struggle with anxiety. But I was so overwhelmed that I was struggling to sleep each night because of the insane stress I was feeling. So every night I’d turn on my audio Bible app on my phone (I chose Psalms!) and set the shut-off timer for an hour. Letting those words of peace + power wash over my mind, plus the soothing voice of the narrator, calms my head + usually puts me to sleep within minutes. Plus I love putting truth into my heart right before I sleep!
♡
So there’s a quick lil tip for ya! I have SO many more things I’ve learned when it comes to time + stress management.
♡
Bottom line here: take care of yourself. rest. breathe. learn how to say no. and then give yourself grace when you get overwhelmed. it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. 🖤
♡
was any of this helpful?!?! I’d love to hear your thoughts. wanna hear more stress/time management tips I’ve learned the HARD way? any other workaholics out there? 🤭😬👇🏼

  • We know that He is alive, and we rejoice in the fact that He conquered death. But where do we go from here?⠀
⠀
Our lives are now centered on the foundation of hope that comes from the life He brings. Though we face trials of many kinds, though we face days of persecution and struggle, His work is still being done. ⠀
⠀
We press on with the joy and gladness because of what He has done and what He continues to do. We are not filled with despair, but with HOPE because we know that there will come a day where the work of Jesus will be complete.⠀
⠀
We must remember that we are not sons and daughters of this world, but have been adopted as sons and daughters of the King.⠀
⠀
Therefore, we do not make a home here for we are merely passing through. We must put our roots in things eternal. We must look heavenward for the things that truly matter. We must fix our purpose on His glory.⠀
⠀
He is risen and our lives are forever changed. He is risen and our lives are filled with hope!⠀
⠀
Encouragement today from my husband @williekaz

  • If you feel fearful today, that doesn’t mean you are faithless. Fear and faith can share the same heartbeat, but what they don’t share is the same perspective. Fear focuses on the shadows. Faith focuses on God. That’s why we need the faith perspective when it comes to our valleys.
.
Our opinions and speculations will not produce faith; instead, they can easily produce fear. So, girl, if we want to have the faith perspective, we’ve got to stay in Scripture. And, when we do, we are reminded that nothing we fear is more powerful than our God!

  • Most people don’t know this about me but I occasionally work as a background extra, typically on TV sets. It’s difficult to think of myself as an actress, because I’m definitely not memorizing lines or appearing front and center on screen. However, there was one time a Facebook friend recognized me on TV. I freaked out a little. 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m not intending on becoming successful in show biz, but I do learn some valuable points while hanging out on set:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️ Abundance is real, and can be found in all industries. Whether you want to be an actor, a director, a set designer, or casting director, there is a production out there that needs you and what you’re capable of offering. Same goes for creative entrepreneurship – my skills won’t be a perfect match for every single person, and that’s okay. I only need to work with a few select people that fit like a glove.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️ Everyone plays a role, and every role is important. It’s nearly impossible to be the “jack of all trades.” (I used to see this term on 90% of job applications.) People want to work with you if you’re extremely good at one thing, instead of just adequate at multiple things. It’s unrealistic to do everything yourself. Team work makes the dream work! 😉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️ Ain’t no shame in working behind-the-scenes. I help small business owners make time for time for what they’re good at, while I do the work that I’m good at. And while most viewers may not think about the extras in the background, the shot would look silly without some hipster pedestrians reading their newspapers behind the main cast. 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, no matter what your role is, it matters because the final product wouldn’t exist without it! And success is whatever you make it.

  • How did that little bitty baby turn into a giant boy in just 14 weeks?! 😢
___
Those 14 weeks have been filled with days of dedication and days rest. Days of sticking to my meal plan and days of hamburgers and fries. Days of being SO motivated, and days of wanting to not do it 😅
___
Thank goodness we don’t have to be perfect to make progress. Thank goodness for workouts that only take 20 minutes {at home}. And thank goodness for the girls that listen to me rant when I’m all kinds of stressed, and cheer me on when I keep going anyway 👊🏻
___
You don’t have to have all the answers to start. You just have to decide you’re ready. So are you? You can do it, I promise 😘 Fill out the form {Spring into Summer | link in bio} - because it’s better together 👯‍♀️

  • He opened my mind to understand the Scriptures. Because of the suffering and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I must proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins globally. I have received the promise of The Father to do this. I am clothed with power from on high to reshape culture. I am a child of The Kingdom of God. “Then Jesus opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:45-49‬ ‭nasb‬‬

  • These photos were not from today. Clearly. But this photo makes me as happy as today was because, well, I MEAN, JUST LOOK!

Today was actually SPRING. It was warm, we played outside, we ate outside, we read outside, and Sloane even has a teeny tiny sunburn on her nose. It's been a good, good day.

And, while outside, I have been thinking about something all day.

Anyone else feel like if it's not perfect you can't share it/feel proud of it?

I feel this DEEP.
I want so badly to make everyone proud and more often than not all I can see are all the little ways I may have failed at doing exactly that.

Little things.
Like my constant typos, unswept floors, messy playroom, small errors in my new houseplant course (Get Planty: Houseplant Foundations), a IG grid that isn't perfectly balanced and composed.

These things stop me.

I spend more time listing all the flaws and the corresponding to-dos than I do feeling proud of the hard work I have put in.

It's a battle.
And in many ways a good battle.

I do want to improve - THAT IS GOOD.

But improvement simply for the sake of improvement - or worse yet, improvement for the sake of glorifying myself, will always hold me back more than it will ever "earn" me the praise I desperately search for.

God died for us while we were sinners. The BIGGEST blessing of all time was handed to us while we are FAR from perfect.

Then, with that in mind, why do we search to improve?

Or, better yet, WHY DO WE PURSUE GROWING WELL?

I have lots of thoughts on this. But I want to hear yours first! Why is it valueable for us to grow well?

  • 4.24.19 // its insane what a difference a week makes. A week ago I was sobbing myself to sleep every night because I was faced with all these walls and no matter how many times I circled them in prayer or joy, they weren’t coming down. I was in such a heavy place.
.
This week it’s like everything is light. The shop I launched last week (@sincerelysherishop) is doing good, phone calls and things are starting to line up for work, even the weather has been sunny and spring like.
.
Was it the social media fast? Was it all the prayers? Yeah, that definitely helped I know it. But I also have been working on shifting my mindset. Because I’m an emotional being I ebb and flow with happy and sad. It’s just who I am, I feel things really big. I don’t mind, it’s helped me empathize and relate to others when they need me, it makes me more eager to listen, more willing to pray.

But shifting my mindset this past week is transforming my life and it’s such a breathe of fresh air. If you want to dig into doing this type of heart and mind work, I highly recommend listening to: The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale Conant (youtube!), Tony Robbins (he’s explicit though, so listen with caution) and Jen Sincero’s book, You Are a Bad@$$ at Making Money (also a bit vulgar at times). They all talk highly about shifting your mind set. I’ve been gleaning as much as I can and learning what I can because I know what you think/believe will determine the course of your life. And I refuse to stay where I was. ✌🏻💕

  • Just taking in the sites on our carriage ride tour of Charleston 🐴 •
•
Blog Post on our trip is up (see link in Bio)! We packed in a ton of stuff in a short amount of time, and it made for one heck of an adventure!•
•
I was in charge of coordinating everything, and I have to say I was a little worried about how things would go. Luckily, I was able to fully enjoy the trip, and I think everyone else did too! I really tried to be considerate of what everyone wanted to do in the amount of time we had. I also wanted to make sure to leave room for some spontaneity. I have to say each family trip goes smoother and smoother, and this one definitely went very well :)•
•
During this trip, dresses and jean jackets were my staples. I loved this striped one from @loft with a tied waste that allowed me to shorten it up a bit...Plus my go to jean jackets from @hollisterco and @oldnavy we’re useful everyday!

Lately I’ve been challenged with this question: What are you doing to help change the world? There are people who are poor, hungry, lost, alone, afraid & broken. These people NEED help. It’s our responsibility to not only acknowledge that but to also fiercely step into action.
If you have the time, resources or know how, don’t let an opportunity to help another human being pass you by. We need each other.

  • Oh, 21-year-old me wouldn’t have believed it if she knew she’d someday find a man who planted trees, had a spirit as wild as the desert sun, and a heart filled to the brim with humility and kindness.
Somewhere in the last handful of days marked nine whole months of bein’ with my best buddy. I have to pinch myself every single day to be sure it’s real, and I wish I could tell 21-year-old me to just hang tight for a few more years. He’s a good one, even if he’s endlessly teasing me for my disdain of Shrek.

•
By the age of four, he had witnessed more death and tragedy than any person ever should.
•
The youngest of six boys and four girls, he and his sister were the only two of his immediate family members who had not perished in the genocide. They spent countless nights sleeping on strangers’ doorsteps with empty stomachs and nothing more than a thin layer of clothing to keep them from freezing.
•
The brutal details of his childhood are haunting. Before he was even able to count, he had witnessed first-hand the very definition of human depravity. My guess is that he didn’t even understand most of what was going on around him at the time. He was faced with thoughts and emotions that were particularly unnatural for some one his age to be bearing. He had every reason under the sun to be bitter and to go about the rest of his life with a heart full of hatred.
•
But his story did not end with genocide...”
•
Re-sharing a piece I wrote a few years ago in remembrance of the Armenian Genocide and my grandfather. Forever thankful for his example of faith and forgiveness in the face of deep tragedy.

  • Dear friends and family,

The countdown to launch day has begun! No Other Name will officially be going live on 4/27 and we are so excited to share with all of you everything we’ve been passionately working on for the past few months.

We believe thoughtful design and quality materials are only part of the equation to what makes truly beautiful jewelry; the most part of the equation, is YOU! Each one of you brings the unique stories, special meaning, personal significance, and expression of faith that can make a piece of jewelry shine its brightest.

Our message to everyone is Your story shines because we believe every personal encounter with God is a beautiful, wondrous thing that can inspire a brighter tomorrow and we pray our jewelry reflects this.

THANK YOU to all of you for your support, prayers, feedback, and encouragement along this journey— we will no doubt continue to be inspired, strengthened, and spurred onward by you.

  • To the girl who never feels good enough...
.
I have an app that tracks my reading progress through the bible in one year. Everyday there's a passage and everyday I check another one off the list. I just love seeing my progress and watching the total percentage of the entire bible read go up. It gives me a mini thrill, like, no matter what else I accomplish today (or don't accomplish), I've done well.
.
This might sound great and holy and spiritual but what about the days when I forget? Well, I'll tell you... I start to feel like a failure, like a girl who's trying to be a "good" Christian but is't quite hitting the mark. Sure it's settle at first, but let a few more days go by and suddenly I feel like "why do I even bother to read the bible? I'll just forget again and then what's the point?" Isn't that sad?
.
The point isn't to have a perfect record or for your total percentage go up. It's to grow a vibrant life in God! It's to let his words transform you from the inside out and to let it's pages sink down deep into your heart. Reading the bible is a good thing. But if we're not careful with our motives, it can become the very thing that condemns us and drags us down.
.
We cannot let our relationship with Jesus become a religion. The bible says that the law (religion) strengthens sin but the Spirit gives life. Make sure you're actions are coming from an intimacy with the holy spirit and he'll be sure to let you know when you've run off course.
.
Because his job is NEVER to condemn you, NEVER to discourage you and ONLY to fill you with his love and grace. Meditate on that as you go about your daily life and you'll grow more in God on accident then you ever have on purpose.

  • Something that's been running through my mind these days is how my husband is the spiritual leader of our house, but I am the spiritual leader for my children. It's from me they will learn love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. This morning in that quiet moment between my waking and my baby's waking, it hit me: In order to teach him those things, I have to be those things. And I felt my heart race. I felt in awe of the responsibility I have and in awe of the distance I am from where I hope to be for him. All I can do is begin now.

⠀
The journey is an adventure. Embrace it. When you’re being used by God, walking in your purpose, and fulfilling the calling God has for your life, expect to be pushed, pulled, and moved in ways you never imagined. There will be some amazing moments and some times of uncertainty, but trust God and get ready. The shift in your personal atmosphere will be incredible. ✨ #trustGod

  • I've learned two things about many of us in the last 24 hours. ⠀
⠀
1. We don't enjoy parenting like we hoped (or at least a particular stage of parenting). ⠀
⠀
and ⠀
⠀
2. We feel really guilty about it. ⠀
⠀
Guilt seems to be a heavy weight many of us carry. But we have to understand where our "guilty feelings" come from.⠀
⠀
They can be like pain from an injury. The pain tells us there's an issue to deal with. If that's the case, if our guilt actually points to a sin issue, then we confess, and He is faithful and just to forgive us. Godly grief produces repentance. So we repent and live with freedom and joy knowing that our sin has been dealt with on the cross. We live in a new way because we've been changed by that reality. ⠀
⠀
But so many of us carry around self-inflicted guilt that comes from things like comparison or unrealistic expectations. ⠀
⠀
This has been a struggle for me personally, and after reading comments yesterday, it's clear I'm not the only one. ⠀
So let me offer 3 diagnostic questions when we feel guilty. ⠀
1️⃣ Is this feeling of guilt because of a sin issue? ⠀
⠀
2️⃣ Is this feeling of guilt because I'm trying to do something beyond what God’s called me to—which then leads me to exhaustion and overwhelm?⠀
⠀
3️⃣ Is this feeling of guilt simply because of a cultural, family, or self-imposed expectation that’s not necessary for me to fulfill—and may even be unhealthy?⠀
⠀
Friends, these all need to be dealt with differently. Too many of us deal with unmet expectations like a moral failure. Or sometimes we dismiss our sin by saying it's merely a self-imposed expectation.⠀
⠀
There's much more to dig into here, and one IG post doesn't even crack the surface. I shared some more thoughts on IG Live (which should be available until tomorrow afternoon), and I want to keep this conversation going. ⠀
⠀
👉🏻Tell me: Is this something you wrestle with?⠀
⠀
Too many of us walk around with a crushing weight of guilt on our shoulders when we could be parenting with the freedom and joy that comes through Christ. I'm a textbook example of this. ⠀
⠀
"But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Cor. 15:57). ❤️🙌

⁣
Every day life throws things at us but how we handle it is what matters not the problem or obstacle.⁣
⁣
How we see the problem affects our reaction to it. Are we seeing it through God's eyes or through human eyes?⁣
⁣
When we value what God values our heart will break only for the things of the kingdom and we will not chase worldly pleasures like our life depends on it.⁣
⁣
We will enjoy the music, the movies, the books, social media but our identity is not in them and we don't need them to survive. ⁣
⁣
We will let go of whatever doesn't glorify the father and embrace what glorifies him so that everything we do will glorify him.

And when we do this whatever life throws at us will be easier to handle because we can discern what is of the Father.

  • He left the his dishes on the table for the second time that week. Does he even consider all the work I do all day? How hard is it for him to bring his dishes and stack them neatly on the counter? The words were at the tip of my tongue. I mulled them in my mouth long enough to clean two more plates, and then let them out. “You know, I would really appreciate it if you would show me some respect and pick up your dishes when you’re done at the table,” I said, with a little bite to my voice.

With our eight month old son on his hip, he turned to me. “Oh, I’m sorry dear. I didn’t even realize. Levi was crying, so I thought I’d just get him out of his seat and start playing with him in the living room and give you some time to yourself. I didn’t even think of the dishes.” The anger that had rose up inside of me quickly slinked down into my stomach. Oh.

With the admonition to be slow to speak we should also remember, So be slow to assume. Based on one action, with no thought on the past, I had conjured up an assumption of my husband that was far from true. Offering no charity, I assumed the worst of my husband’s motives. Maybe it’s ironic and hypocritical, but I’m assuming I’m not the only one. I believe many of our conversations as believers would be much more edifying and our relationships much less tense if we lived by the phrase, “Love hopes all things,” (1 Corinthians 13:7). Our relationships within the church could be more unified if we remember the grace and charity we have been shown by Christ, who knew the depths and sins of our hearts, and seek to show charity to one another in our thoughts and actions.

  • Y’all.... the bigger I get the funnier it is to come to the gym! 🤣🤣🤣
I love my moon belly. 🤰🏻
_
On a serious note: I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed life more than I do now. This season of our married life and honestly, just life in general, has never been better. When you keep God in the center of it all beautiful things happen. You see His grace and mercy even in the difficulties of our lives. In a raw, no filter, and transparent way I will say this; the first few months of pregnancy... it was rough. I mean it’s beautiful but oh my..... it was hard.
When I tell y’all it was “rough” and “hard” I mean it. Everyone says how wonderful and beautiful pregnancy is (and it truly is) however, it’s also hard. The morning sickness, the not being able to eat, not being able to keep water down, being weak and just on the couch eating crackers and ginger soda... or like in my case, being hospitalized and feed through my veins and few ER visits in the middle of the night. Yet, now reflecting back at it all, so edifying and sanctifying. You literally die to self and all you care about is that your precious child is safe. God is so marvelous to give us women such incredible bodies to be able to go through pregnancy. All the changes and uncomfortable nights. So so so worth it. On that note, I can’t wait to meet my daughter.
_
All that to say; pregnancy is hard, in some women cases is a breeze and walk in the park (PRAISE GOD FOR IT ALL) yet, it’s so wonderful and beautiful in so many ways.
_
For all the expecting mamas out there, possibly reading this... if you are having a tough and hard pregnancy, sistafren you are not alone! Reach out to other sisters in Christ who have already have children or sisters who are also pregnant. I SURE DID, and let me tell y’all, God used and continues to use them to encourage, uplift and speak life into me.
_
Last thing and I am done. (LOL)

I’m really good and super quick to encourage on here and post my inspirational words to you all and usually that’s because at some point I needed to hear them too. So this one is for you but it’s also for me. Sleep in, go for a walk, do a face mask, love yourself well and be gracious with yourself !! ✨💕

  • One beautiful truth of God is that He says in His Word that He always goes before us, and that He uses everything we go through for our good.
.
I know this from first hand experience- when I was a teenager, I made a lot of mistakes and wasn’t a follower of God. (I always believed in Jesus, but I wasn’t actively following Him.) I went to parties, had unhealthy relationships and didn’t honor God in my choices. But all of those things I went through taught me that living a lifestyle like that was not only unfulfilling, but was not God’s plan and God’s purpose for my life. I’m so happy I realized that when I was 23. If I hadn’t gone through those hardships, and lessons, I wouldn’t be able to speak about the grace and forgiveness of God because of how He worked through my life.
.
We are often only aware of what’s in front of us. But God is always doing a thousand other things behind the scenes and for our good in the future. Are you trusting Him today and allowing God to work through you and your circumstances?

  • So thankful for new days, second chances and a boatload of grace! 🙌🏽 Today was incredibly better than yesterday! My hay fever was under control, I had sweet little helpers @traderjoes , and no ditches in sight! 😂 Even better, the checker drilled into my kids to clean their rooms before handing them BAGS of lollipops! 🍭😋 You know those bribes are going right in the diaper bag! I’ll need reinforcements for good behavior for later!! #traderjoeslove #secondchances #graceupongrace

  • GOD IS GOOD!!
You know why?
Because He is so personal with us and knows our hearts better than we do.

A couple years ago I was in such bad shape physically and emotionally, I had to quite my job that I loved so much. I even sold my stethoscope because I was so certain that I was never going to work again.

But as I grew in the Lord I prayed and asked Him that I would be able to work again and also be able to afford my treatments that aren’t covered by doctors. Two years later I am working at a job two days a week (which is perfect for my body right now) and not only is it the most hands-on FUN job I’ve ever had as an MA, but they also offer the exact treatments that I get and I only pay $60 instead of $950!!! Y’all, God is so good!! Don’t give up, keep seeking him, the answer may take years to unfold, but I know for a fact I would not be here at this job if I didn’t move out of the way and let God lead.
