  • Ha-gia get to be so beautiful!
.
Ok guys, I couldn't decide, which picture is your favorite? 🌟 To see more pics, including what this beauty looks like on the inside, make sure to go check out my stories 🌟
Also, here's why the Hagia Sophia is a must see while in Istanbul:🔸️The Hagia Sophia is one of the 7 ancient wonders of the World, primarily because of its quintessential Byzantine architectural style.🔸️It was originally constructed in 360 AD, destroyed in a fire twice, with the 3rd reconstruction you see still standing today from 537 AD. Wow, right?🔸️It took only 6 years to build, (perspective: Notre Dame took about a century)🔸️It was a former Christian patriarchal basilica (church); in 1453 became an imperial mosque (this is when the 4 minarets – tall, thin towers which are often found on a mosque – were added), and has functioned as a museum since 1935.🔸️Because of its history as both a church and a mosque, there are both Christian and Islamic elements and features on the inside, which is extremely rare to see. (Come see in my stories) 🔸️When it was built, it was the largest structure in the world as well as the world's largest cathedral until the Seville Cathedral was completed in 1520.🔸️Building the great dome, which is 55.6 meters tall & 31 meters in diameter, required more than 10,000 men. It was also the largest dome in the world until St. Peter's Basilica was built. .
Pretty amazing huh? Who else has witnessed the beauty of The Hagia Sophia, and what did you think?

  • Blue Mosque with no people around, that was our challenge 😁 So we decided to wake up at sunrise (which was sooo hard since I am a big sleepy head). And it was so rewarding!! Not just spending time at the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia and embracing all their glory, but just walking around city...it was incredible. Like the whole city there just for you, waiting for you to explore. It was really majestic, watching the city from completely empty to slowly waking up and eventually starting to get lively like you are used to.
☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
This was my first time ever experiencing a new city like this and I cant recommend it enough. It is perfect and I will make it a habit from now on.

What is your favourite way to explore a new city? Let's share some tips in the comments 😉

  • The Hagia Sophia, definitely the most impressive site in Istanbul. Throughout the Byzantine and Ottoman history the structure served as the Imperial Church or a Mosque. It is known to be possibly the largest shrine in the world. Now it is a museum that lets you walk through and learn all about it’s history.
