A new PB, my first race in #nikevaporfly and a fantastic result for the APS United Men’s 40 team at this years #AthleticsVictoria Burnley half marathon. We managed to win the round and hold our place at the top of the season ladder. One more round to decide the premiership.
THE HALF MARA PLANS🙌🏼 Almost as a reward for double run day, yesterday I had the pleasure of opening up my new @nikerunning Pegasus Zoom 35’s and @brightonhalfmarathon bib number 😍😬 So who else is gonna be at #BrightonHalf on 24/02?
I’ve run the full mara twice but not the half and I’m super duper excited about it. Won’t be pushing myself to the maxxx as I’ll treat it as a training run mostly. This’ll be my first ever post where I state #AD - this race place has been kindly gifted to me from the team at brighton half.
Brighton is my hometown 🌈🌊 so this has been on my race to do list for a while!
My running goals this year aside from @thespeedproject are to get my half marathon time down.
Day 80- walking with the devil dog.
I had plans to go to a gym class tonight, or a ride/run brick.
I got home from work exhausted, I took my kids to get new runners that they needed. Why must their feet grow so quickly?
First half marathon of the year done @bathhalf !! I gave it a go but had to walk most of it (which turns out is just as hard as it’s so cold and SO LONG!) but I’m seriously proud of myself! Due to a blip in my mental health this week I’ve struggled to even leave my bed or the house from fatigue and was about to pull out the race.. so even though this took me a very long time (and so many tears) I am so glad I not only faced my fear and left the house, but I actually finished 13.1 miles! .
Here for the booty gainz not the back painz.
Ladies; I’m hearing reports that you’re experiencing lower back pain in the pursuit of your ideal bot, especially during extension type exercises like this one 👆🏻
Here are a couple of tips to help you avoid pain and feel the bum burn (and not the post curry kind):
- You may be over extending your lumbar spine. Rather than trying to do an armless cobra pose, keep your lower rib tucked, tummy tight and aim to finish the movement when your shoulders in line with your hips. (Film yourself or ask a coach to help your get your bod in the safest position)
- Practice holding in farts. If you can’t quiet grasp the concept of squeezing or activating your glutes try different cues. Here is my most successful verbal cue: “remember in high school when people would poke you directly in the butt hole? (Please don’t tell me this was just an SBSC thing) Now imagine you’re trying to prevent entry.”
- Slow down. Are you throwing your body around, creating kipping exercises that didn’t exist before? (fair enough, we won’t be seeing much more. RIP #crossfit ) Take time to perform every rep with care and proper execution.
- Don’t spend a whole session doing 50 booty workouts you found on Instagram. If you’re just doing isolated exercises chances are you’re not as strong as you could be in all the other very important places in your body. “The body works as a unit” - @australianstrengthcoach so train it like one!
Race Review Mountain of Fun- I ran this event today as a training run, and it turned out to be a very, very tough run. Mt Warrenheip gifted us with a nasty head wind running up the mountain. PB for climbing Mt Warrenheip (1min faster) I was lucky to place in my age category (1st) and placed 6th female overall!

My 2nd last half mara. Usually I'll see the rego open and be all 'hrmm, maybe I should' but this year I did not even question not doing it 😂 do I miss the training? Absolutely. It pushes me beyond limits, and cleared the mind. Do I miss the atmosphere and people, sure do. But putting my focus into other things this year, and injuries like I got from the Rollercoaster Run, is not in my plans. Congrats to everyone that ran yesterday, you're all amazing ✌ .
I was very busy today, I worked and had after work drinks for someone who was leaving and I decorated a massive cake.
This was all I could fit in time and energy wise. I’m pretty sure kneading fondant should be counted as exercise anyway 😂
Day 52- 3km run.
On my last run I felt some familiar pain in the side of my knee, since then I’ve stretched and rolled and been careful with it.
Today’s 3kms was magic, they felt so effortless. Have you ever had a dream where you are running and you just feel like you are gliding? That’s what today’s run felt like, I actually had to pinch myself to make sure I was actually awake.
I toyed with the idea of going to 5km, but these days, I know I need to be careful and overdoing it happens so easily, with the pain earlier this week, it wasn’t worth the risk.
Grateful I am for following my heart in yoga and now being able to share this healing practice with others. 💕
I just knew it was “good for me”.
Although in the beginning it was at times frustratingly too “slow” and the thought of savasana (resting pose) gave me anxiety and feelings of guilt, I was still drawn back.
What I realize now is it was helping me to reconnect. To redevelop an intimate relationship with my body. To stop ignoring my body, to sense it’s communication, to trust it and honor it. I am able to see through the noise and with clarity know what best serves me.
For me “advanced yoga” is practicing in a way that best serves you in that moment. Some days it’s an arm balance or handstand, others it’s coming down and resting in child’s pose. What we practice on the mat we can take out into our lives.
This pic was taken earlier this month at a running camp with @runningintheburbs where I took them through a yoga and meditation practice followed by a nutrition workshop on “Nutrition for Optimal Health and Running Performance”. It was such a great day and I know the runners got a lot out of it!
Just seeing this picture brings so much joy. I am exactly where I am meant to be. ❤️
Thanks @pauljohnstone_photography for capturing this moment 💕😊

Day 51- loungeroom workout, squats, dips, sit ups, pushups etc.
who is this girl??? i havent seen her in a while! So freaking happy running with my sole sisters taking it steady and not pressurising myself for the first time in weeks!! I knew I had to strip it back to what I know and love. managed a total of 13.1 miles this morning and I loved every step!!!! #runningwithfriends#run#halfwaythere#halfmara#happy#runhappy
Thank you for driving me to my events and waiting for me at the finish line, it must be boring as shit for you, but you know my anxiety is high and that without your support I probably wouldn’t go.
Thank you for never getting angry when I Afterpay more running crap that I desperately “need”. Thank you for allowing me time to put in the training required to succeed in events, even if that means you get left with the psycho mini me’s.
@runaprilrun42 and I decided a half-marathon while on holiday in Canada during the middle of winter would be a good idea. Temperature was -5 at the start (warmest), dropped to -10 during and -7 when we finished. Total of 21.47km in 2:36.06 (crosses the start line a couple of minutes after the first runners). Not the best time but with minimal running training (biggest run in a year was 8km a few weeks ago), how bloody cold it was and a week straight of snowboarding and drinking, pretty happy with the outcome. Within 30mins of finishing Vancouver got hit with a fairly large snow storm for them, so we got the timing perfect.
1) Finish line pic
2) Frozen lake in Stanley Park
3) Frozen water cascade down the rock faces on the sea facing side of Stanley Park
4) Snowing 30mins after finishing.
The calm between this weekend’s “training” storms. 🌅
This morning was a sneaky half mara 🏃🏻♀️
Tomorrow morning is a 3.6km open water swim around the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere 🏊🏻♀️
