One of the biggest weight loss myths on the planet.
Eating.. AT NIGHT makes you gain fat!
Let me get this straight.
When the sun goes down, the banana you're about to eat magically gains more calories? Just because it's dark outside?
How does that make any sense?
The food you are eating does not know what time it is.
Inanimate objects cannot tell the time.
The calories of your food will remain the same throughout the day.
Now, if your sleep is affected by eating at night, don't eat at night. Simple as that.
But for me, I like going to bed with a full stomach. So I am going to eat towards the end of the day. That's just a personal preference.
During my fat loss journey, I was working during evenings, and wouldn't come home from the gym/work until 11pm.
I would eat my dinner around 11:30pm every night.
I consistently lost 1-2 lbs every week for a year.
Why? Because I was in a calorie deficit. I was making sure that my calories were in check.
During my fat loss journey, many people said "How is Vatche eating at night? When I eat at night, I gain 10 lbs"
The reason I did not gain weight by eating at night was because I made sure to properly track my food intake.
You don't HAVE TO track your calories, but it will yield the best results, in my opinion.
The reason you are gaining fat is because you are in a calorie surplus. You are not burning enough calories / you're eating too much.
Don't blame carbs, eating at night, or sugar.
Yes, overeating ANYTHING can lead to fat gain. But if you are in a calorie deficit, you can enjoy food at night.

Every day I hear from people who say they can’t do what I do because I commit to showing up for myself every.single.day because my husband and my kids deserve the best version of me.

There’s nothing super exceptional about me other than I refuse to give into my excuses any longer and I CHOOSE each and every day to show up. Some days are better than others. That’s true. But I show up.

Lately I’ve forgotten how enjoyable Instagram can be, because I’ve kind of been correlating Instagram with work. I’ve felt pressured to post. Silly, I know. But I used to have so much fun just editing photos and playing with colors and lighting. I kind of want to go back to that mindset when it comes to social media. For instance, this photo is so different than the preset I typically use that I created for my other photos #aesthetic lol I played around with the lighting of the sky, which is darker and also the shadows, which are more prevalent— basically it’s a lot moodier. And I like it!
I’m beginning to feel inspired again. I feel revitalized again. I want to start posting different but also meaningful content. Flow videos? Maybe even lifestyle content? Who knows. 🤷🏼♀️ but I’m working on changing my mindset about Instagram and reverting back to the fun of simply creating. Anyways I’m done rambling, here’s my schedule for the week:

✨What if the waves get bigger to make you stronger?✨
Been riding some pretty big waves lately and have been challenged to keep my center and find my calm.💆
Before I entered into this world of health and wellness coaching these types of waves quickly became part of a crashing storm.🌊I pressured myself with unbearable and heavy expectations while masking the fog🌫and fatigue with a constant smile. It was downright exhausting.😩
Exhaustion now looks a little different. I definitely still feel it throughout my body and mind but my approach is different. I practice taking each day with its own uniqueness as it comes🙏before complete overwhelm ensues.
I still feel the pressure but I have the tools to ease it. And if I am really struggling I know who I can count on to snap me back out of it with a quick text, phone call or coffee date.☕
When you are on the brink of exhaustion how do pull yourself into the present moment or does the overwhelm tend to get the best of you?✍
I've been on a high since going on the scale yesterday. However, please don't let the number on the scale become a deterrent to your success.
I don't own a scale, and while it is tempting to get one, I really don't want to become obsessed with weighing myself every day.
Weight from time to time fluctuate especially with hormonal changes in a woman's body
So keep eating clean, drink lots of water, work out, get rest and let your body take care of the rest.

"Can I just say I am chuffed to bits to have lost 15 lbs at the ripe old age of 66! “Never say never” is such a true saying. As a life long serial dieter I thought my diet wasn’t too bad before starting DMC. ⠀
Eg I used coconut oil and ate very little in way of starchy carbs. All meals were made from scratch.⠀
However I soon became aware that what I perceived as an odd treat had developed into multiple bad habits ( a wee piece of cake here and an odd glass of wine there etc etc! ) keeping a food diary is a great way to make you pause and think – if I eat this I will have to write it down ( and therefore own up to it! )⠀

Everyone knows Colombian coffee ranks among the highest in the world. Superior quality is guaranteed because every.single.bean is handpicked and scrutinized. From my brief experience in the field, this is hard labor. I can’t imagine the life of a farmer.
La Casa Grande coffee hacienda is the home of 7 generations of traditional Colombian coffee farmers. They grow specialty coffee here. I also got to try cascara, a coffee cherry “tea” made from dried coffee husks. Not only does it taste good, I love that this is a way to use the whole plant.

MOBILITY- In simple terms, freely moving without stress on the body.
Mobility and flexibility are often mistaken for the same thing. I say this speaking from experience, before I started Pilates I thought how deep I could get in my squat was down to my flexibility. But no! So what’s the difference.. Flexibility is the ability of the muscles to lengthen. Mobility is the joints being able to move through full range of motion without restriction.
So why is mobility so important?
Mobility effects how we move whether it be in our training programme or getting around in day to day life.
Bad mobility leads to bad movements. Keep this up and over time it will lead to injury repetitive strain.
Working on mobility for functional movement is important because we can increase the end range of each exercise creating efficient movement patterns and technique.
Try adding mobility movements in your warm up or combining as a part of your training programme. Keep an eye out on my page as I’m going to post some mobility exercises for you to add into your training.
