It’s the end of January and your 2020 resolutions might be washing away slowly. 🤷🏼♀️ What should you do to stay motivated and to stay on track with your goals?
1. Remind yourself why are you doing something in the first place.
2. Make your activities more fun and more enjoyable.
3. Give yourself a reward (doesn’t mean McDonald’s or Krispy Kreme!).
4. Give yourself a break if you need to (not a one-year long procrastination, but a day off).
If your self-control just isn’t there, get yourself a coach to guide you through the process, hello 🙋🏼♀️
headphones are about to go in so I can continue with my next module of the “at your happy weight” programme by @thinkwell.livewell 💛

Being at my happy weight means waking up feeling happy and positive towards myself and not living in fear or comparison of anyone else.
You can’t expect to see results overnight and as I am half way through I can already see changes in my mindset! If you struggle with body positivity, consider this program and you can click the link in my bio to see if it’s the right fit for you!💕& in the meantime tell me your favourite thing about yourself! #ad#MyHappyWeight

How wonderful 🥰 would it be if there was a quick drink that helped reduce overeating, control cravings, and improve digestion? Believe it or not, an apple cider vinegar drink 🍎🥃 may just be that!
It works by increasing your 📈metabolism, burning fat, increasing satiety, and stabilizing ⚖️ blood sugar – all of which can contribute to maintaining a healthy weight.
What foods should I be eating to make sure I’m getting enough Iron?
Red meat (and especially organ meats) are a significant source of iron. Other animal foods high in iron include oysters and sardines. A few squares of dark chocolate is an excellent source. 🥩🍫
Iron plays an important role in energy production and optimal immune system maintenance. Symptoms of iron deficiency include fatigue, irritability, paleness and intolerance to cold.
For dinner tonight, I made curried lentils for Curry Tuesday. It all started with onions and garlic in a pan with filtered water. Once they were caramelized, I added brown lentils and enough water to cover them. When the lentils were tender, I added cauliflower, orange bell pepper, and asparagus. I put together my curry seasoning (salt, pepper, cinnamon, cumin, paprika, turmeric, and a secret ingredient) and poured it in along with coconut. I served the lentils with brown rice and it was an incredible combination. For dessert I made an almond joy chia pudding parfait. The pudding is made with chia seeds, almond milk, agave, and almond extract. I shook the ingredients in a mason jar and allowed it to set in the fridge. I layered the pudding in a glass with almonds (sliced and whole), coconut flakes, and non dairy chocolate chips. This made for a wonderful Tuesday night.
FREE Coach tip Day 1.

Work’s been pretty crazy these days. Unrelenting is a word that comes to mind. So it’s no huge surprise that I’ve been experiencing some anxiety throughout the day.
Backbends are one of the best cures for anxiety, whether acute or chronic.
Yoga works in funny yet simple ways. “Like cures like” similar to the principles of homeopathy.
Backbend postures can temporarily make you feel anxious, angry, crazy or a host of other feelings, but the end result is dispelling those feels in the short and long term.
A consistent and properly executed yoga practice can not only relieve anxiety but also increase your body’s resilience, maintain your youth, and eliminate chronic back pain. 💫
Think of crying as a physical body reaction that serves a purpose. Forget what it feels like to cry for a minute, forget the hurt and pain associated with this activity, and merely view it as a body function.
Crying is a very effective way of releasing emotions that otherwise accumulate and create tension in our systems.
Unresolved or unaddressed emotions stagnate and fester just as undigested food would, creating health problems.
Research shows that patients with rheumatoid arthritis who are more apt to cry are actually in better control of their symptoms than those who don't.
We can see the interconnectedness between the mind and body in that by relieving our emotional pain, we can then relieve our physical pain.
Our emotions offer us an alternative perspective or translation of our bodies messages... For the times when we just can't wrap our heads around the messages coming from our bodies, we can instead turn to our inner world's for an alternative viewpoint.
We can work indirectly with our emotions, mentality and spirit, to heal our physical disease.
Working with the physical body requires a lot of force and effort, working with the quantum body means - miniscule changes = giant shifts.
So next time you find your bottom lip quivering and you have a lump in your throat - just allow and release.
Find comfort, gratitude and peace knowing that the act of crying is productive and serving you well.
This is not an act of weakness, but it signifies somebody who nurtures and cares for themselves in times of need... Somebody who allows themself to cry is someone who is generating forward movement and taking action to heal and prevent disease.

I honestly never expected to see a number under 80 on the scales in my life, I had expected to get to 95 kgs and be happy and I didn’t even think I’d make the 95kgs before a year post op. But today 11.5 months post up I weigh 79kgs! A total loss of 72.2kgs and I am completely shocked. If someone had of told me a year ago I’d be here I would have laughed. And it’s Honestly insane to think that a year ago I was the size I was, and my brain hasn’t completely caught up to the fact that I’m not. 😂
This surgery has helped change my life and I’m so grateful.
It’s still Transformation Tuesday! And I want to honor this inspiring woman! Susan Dampier, mom 6!
It’s amazing what can happen when you put your excuses aside and show up every day for your goals! .
This past year has been one of tremendous personal growth for me, and I’m proof that we can do and be anything we desire.
All it takes is making the decision to go for it!!!

Pretty crazy to think I’ve nearly lost my whole partners body weight. 😂
All I need is this chair and these two-pound weights. I started this new program today and love it! It's called Barre Blend. I was skeptical - I'm no graceful dancer. But I am pleasantly surprised at how challenging the workouts are, while all low impact! Plus - I don't have to worry about not looking graceful since I'm in our basement. 🤣
There's still time to join me! It's not too late to set a goal for the New Year. I can help you get there. ❤❤

I absolutely love reading and listening to personal development books & podcasts. But something I’ve learned over the past few years is that those things are good and all, but if we aren’t spending most of our “personal development” time practicing what we have learned, then we are missing the whole point. #nuyouforever

Can You Overdose on Vitamins?
Taking vitamins is part of the daily routine of millions of people worldwide.
Though directions for safe dosing are listed on most supplement bottles, it’s common practice to take more than what’s recommended.
Consumers are bombarded with health information telling them that taking high doses of certain vitamins can benefit their health in many ways. However, taking too much of some nutrients can be dangerous.
After watching my friend @chelsealauren_m have more energy, decrease her bloating and improve her digestion, thanks to an amazing Nutritional Cleansing system, I decided it was time for me to experience similar results, because I was tired of feeling low energy, bloated and puffy.
I’ve been using the system inconsistently for months and I'm finally ready to take it to the next level and be consistent in order to get the results that are scientifically proven!
I’d love to have some of my good friends join me on this journey so we can hold each other accountable and get the healthiest we’ve ever been together. Who’s up for looking and feeling their best?
Something amazing happens when we surrender and just love.
We melt into another world, a realm of power already within us.
The world changes when we change. the world softens when we soften.
The world loves us when we choose to love the world.
Shoulder day today aka my favorite day!!!
I’ve been working really hard the last few months on breaking up my lifts to incorporate more individual arm work rather than both arms. Example: lots of seated dumbbell press rather than barbell press. My dominant side (right) always takes over and my left side fails reps before my right. Because of this, I was either having to lower the weight on barbell to where my right side wasn’t being challenged or raise the weight to challenge my right side but leave myself open for bad form.
The best way to fix this, change as many workouts into single arm work as you possibly can. Make that non dominant side work and don’t rely on another part of your body to take over.
After shoulders today, I was very happy to see the symmetry I’m building and was pretty pleased with the strength I’ve built on my left side in a pretty short time frame.
Have you guys had issues with muscle imbalances? If so, which muscle group or groups? A lot of people see it in their quads as well!
How often are you in a rush to have breakfast in the morning?
We have so much to do in the mornings that a healthy breakfast can feel like it would take too much time. Well, here’s an easy option – overnight oats!
A great way to get a mix of protein, fats and other nutrients.
There are so many recipes out there (just check out Pinterest) but a basic way to do it, is one part oats, one part liquid (milk, almond milk, etc…) and 1/8 part seeds.
You can tailor to whatever you like! Here are some helpful tips:
It will always look a little “soupy” when you first mix, that’s okay! Sitting in the fridge overnight will thicken it.
If you’re adding protein powder, mix it with a little liquid first to make a paste, then add it to the oats. This will prevent any clumping.
To prevent soggy fruit, add them in the morning.
Vision therapy: Eye exercises for keeping your eyes strong and healthy⠀
Your eyes just like any other muscle can get sore and start to hurt. Here is a collection of some eye exercises that can help you be productive, eliminate headaches and reduce the risks of serious eye diseases like glaucoma and cataract, and help recovery from previous eye surgery:⠀
1. Keep palm and carry on: Warm up your hands and cup your eyes with your palms and let them rest on. Keep your palms on your eyes until the whole heat is transferred.⠀
2. Binge Blinking: Blink really fast about 15 times. Then close your eyes for about 20 seconds. ⠀
3. Zoom in on this tip; Hold your arm outstretched in a thumbs up position. Focus on your thumb. Slowly start bringing it closer until you can’t focus on it anymore. Then stretch your arm again to the starting position.⠀
4. FLEX! Without moving your neck look to the most extreme up you can. Then look to the extreme down (or your nose). Then shift in looking to the left and the right the same way.⠀
5. To infinity and beyond: Look towards the floor or a wall about 10 feet in front of you. Imagine you’re drawing a giant figure 8 or the infinity sign with your eyes.⠀
6. Eye spa with my little eye: Soak a towel in hot water and then slowly and gently massage your closed eyes, your forehead and your cheeks. ⠀
7. Focus! Like in the zooming exercise hold your arm outstretched with your thumb up. Focus on your thumb, then focus on something in the distance, then again focus on your thumb.⠀
8. Roll, roll, roll your eyes: Slowly roll your eyes 360 degrees. Repeat 5 times in one direction and 5 times in the other direction.⠀
9. Leave a message: Similar to the figure 8 exercise, sit in front of a wall (preferably with no pattern) and imagine you’re writing a message on it. Make sure to write out every letter well to strengthen your eyes better.⠀
Keep in mind that if you’re already wearing glasses or have some kind of eye issue these exercises won’t magically cure you. If you’re not feeling well constantly schedule an appointment at the optometrist. Make sure to eat and sleep well too.⠀
Go for it!
Go all in!
Don’t leave your cards on the table.
Get your hopes up!
Get them up really high!
Give it your all!
You deserve that.
You will never regret the things you try. You will almost always regret what you don’t try. Put your entire heart in the game and give it everything you’ve got. There will be disappointment, there will be rejection, there will be pain. But you will get stronger from that. You will suffocate from the burden of knowing that you didn’t try in the first place. So go out there, and give it your all. Give it all you’ve got with the highest of hopes. You are worth the experience and possibilities that will come as a result.
Where in your life are you ready to go all in?
Where do you need the push to go all in?
“Crash Test” PeNaNCe •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
On Friday I definitely “crashed” this test. At CrossFit I was laying on the floor (dead like I always am after a hard WOD) and my coach was like “Cas, you did those 45 burpee’s so fast!” ... WAIT WHAT!? 45? “Hill, I only did 30! So I got up cussing myself and finished the last 15. That messes with your psyche, especially when you’re laying on the floor thinking how happy you are done with another monster and pleased with your pace you did it in. Even though this is all practice, knowing I didn’t complete it properly, I knew I had to finish 15 more. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
After this WOD, I hit the gym to lift with the hubby (it was leg day) HAHA! And for my penance, 15 Burpee‘s were laid out a handful of times. Look at the board next time Cas, duh! 🤦🏽♀️
The WOD that I crashed and burned...

30 Deadlifts (245/165)
45 Lateral Barbell Burpees (NOT 30 Cas, not 30!) @crossfitdraper ********************************** #crossfitfail#learnfromyourmistakes#deadlifts#barbellburpees#crossfitlife#penance

Dinner: orzo rice and apples.
1 cup orzo rice (No Frills - I think)
1/2 cup olives (Costco)
1/2 cup baby tomatoes (No Frills)
1/4 cup Feta Cheese (Costco)
1 apple (No Frills)
1 tbsp peanut butter (No Frills)
Put water in a pot and start to boil. Once at a boil, put the cup of rice into the pot and let it work for about 7 to 10 minutes.
In the meantime... Prepare the feta cheese, half the baby tomatoes and measure out the olives to mix in the rice once ready.
Chop up the apple and spoon out the peanut butter. Drain the water from the pot and rinse the pasta.
Put the pasta in a bowl and mix with olives, feta and tomatoes. This makes 5 cups. Add the apples and peanut butter.

Clear your mind. Let your body relax. Take a deep breath and give gratitude. Say a prayer. Be in tune with your body and what you need to prepare for the rest of the evening without stress and chaos.
Just 15 minutes can serve you so well! Try it out. Your mind and body will thank you for it 😊🙏🏽🧘🏽♀️.

Keep on beginning and failing.
Each time you fail, start all over again, and you will grow stronger until you have accomplished a purpose - not the one you began with perhaps, but one you'll be glad to remember.
You are a forever warrior, close your eyes and look within yourself. Bend, twist, fall, begin!
