I shared this week that we’re **thinking** of leaving the city for Kindergarten so I’m taking advantage of everything I love about Boston and that includes running my favorite routes.
I’m currently rocking the @UARUNNING HOVR Phantom/SE. Most importantly it feels plush and is super comfy but looks sleek, fast and aerodynamic. I also love how it connects seamlessly to @UAMapMyRun to give personalized coaching based on pace, cadence, stride length and distance with or without your phone.
My favorite routes in Boston include the Charles River all the way from Charlestown to Harvard University. I have so many memories along these paths from my marathon training days. From stopping at all the bathrooms along the way to dodging thousands of humans participating in the many charity walks.
Years ago when we visited our first open house in the suburbs for fun I couldn’t believe the neighborhood didn’t even have sidewalks! I immediately said “No way! Where would I run with my jogging stroller!?!” The sidewalks of Boston are not meant for a jogging double bob either I now realize but it works along the Charles! #ad#UAHOVR@underarmour

SUNDAY DINNER🍃 I never cooked elaborate dishes in my life. I was always that girl who took a complicated recipe and majorly simplified it to work for me. I love cooking but I won’t slave away in the kitchen for half the day & I certainly won’t measure out each ingredient to make sure everything comes out precisely perfect (who has time for that?!) I mostly eyeball everything, improvise with random ingredients I find in the grocery store that look yummy and hope for the best! Sometimes it works (like the recipes on my blog) & sometimes it doesn’t. I have no culinary background (clearly) I just love cooking my own food and nourishing my body. When I first started Healthy Alibi I posted my meals as a way to show you guys examples of what I ate & what my version of living a healthy lifestyle meant in terms of food. Now as a new mom, my goal is to show you that with time management, meal prep & planning ahead even sleep deprived, crazy busy mamas CAN maintain their health & wellness ❤️ What kinda recipes would you all like to see from me? I saw a quote the other day that read something like this: “everything is possible. The impossible just takes longer.” And I thought that was so true. .
Somethings take time, patience, dedication, persistence, and true desire. If you have a passion for something that your heart dances for, DO IT! Because no matter what, and no matter how long you live, you are a winner. .
Even if you die tomorrow, wouldn’t you rather leave this planet knowing you spent every second following your heart? Who cares about the end result, the process is what is often over looked. The PROCESS is LIFE. .
Every day, is a step towards the next step. That’s all life is about isn’t it? .
Wherever our path is taking us, regardless of whether it’s aligned with our hearts or not, it’s all a process. .
Whether you are passionately devoted to living life to the fullest, experiencing love, helping, following your dreams, and being creative, OR, working a job that maybe gives you anxiety, depression, and second guess the point to life, either way.... it’s all a process! .
So which life do you choose? Which process will you take? .
Always remember that no matter what direction you go, it’s just an experience, and tomorrow you will have another one ... or maybe you won’t ... so you MIGHT AS WELL just follow the path you wish to be on! .
Take that leap of faith. Listen to your HEART! (NOT your brain!) Shut off your mind, and figure it out! WHO ARE YOU? What are you here to do in this life? What is the process you wish to take? . ... and then, take it. ✨

Showing up for ourselves matters, so that we can be our best when we show up for others.
Creating healthy, daily habits doesn’t have to be hard or complicated. This is me telling you I have no idea what I’m doing working out. But. I’m showing up everyday so that I have the chance to get better. Start with 30 minutes a day. Just move or walk 🙌❤️. I believe so much in wellness from every angle. Movement. Water intake. Products.
Here are a few tips:
Drink water. Staying hydrated is so easy, but we do have to be intentional about it. Fill up a pitcher or find a cute water bottle. There are even apps that keep you on track! We often feel run down or sick, and a lot of it comes from dehydration. You can make your water even more fun with a Vitality oil! I like to add a fresh slice of lemon with a drop of Lime Vitality right on it for a super refreshing!
Move your body. Take a yoga class, take a walk, go for a run. Prioritize movement in some form every day. PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDAR! This helps me soooo much getting into new daily habits. This is where you show up for yourself. Can’t get out of the house with lots of little ones? Wake up early and find a yoga class online. Taking 20 minutes to care for your body daily matters, and it can change your whole perspective.
Ditch the candles. I know, I know – so tempting to fill our homes with the scents of sea air, but I promise you, those synthetic fragrances are NOT what you want your family breathing in. You can get even yummier scents throughout your home that actually benefit your health with a diffuser and some blends!
Keep your energy up with your daily dose of Ningxia Red! This is my go to every single day for all my antioxidants, a natural immunity boost, and lots of energy. Croissants caseros sin mantequilla y sin azúcares refinados.
Muy fáciles de preparar y buenísimos.
Prefermento con levadura;
42 gr de levadura fresca.
1 cdta de harina de espelta integral.
1 cdta de azúcar de coco.
100 cc de leche tibia.
359 gr de harina de espelta integral.
1 cda de aceite de oliva virgen.
50 cc de leche.
1/4 cdta de polvo de vainilla.
40 gr de puré de manzana (compota de manzana).
1/2 cdta de sal.
1 yema de huevo y un poco de leche.
1 cda de azúcar de coco
1 cda de agua.
Para el prefermento, mezcla la leche, levadura, harina y azúcar, hasta deshacer.
Deja reposar por 25 minutos.
Para la masa, coloca en un bol la harina, huevo, aceite, leche, vainilla, manzana y sal.
Mezcla un poco.
Añade el prefermento y mezcla hasta conseguir una masa suave.
Deja reposar tapado durante 1 hora.
Desgasifica la masa y extiende dándole poema rectangular.
Dobla en tres, y extiende de nuevo, repite très veces el proceso.
Extiende la masa en forma rectangular por última vez.
Corta la masa por la mitad longitudinalmente y luego en forma de triángulos ( en mis stories tienes el paso a paso).
Coge un triangulo y extiende un poco los bordes sin romper.
Enrolla hasta llegar a la punta final , ponle un poco de agua a la punta con el dedo , para que se quede pegada.
Repite el proceso con todos los triángulos.
Barniza con la mezcla de huevo y leche.
Deja reposar tapado con un paño 30 minutos.
Hornea a 180 grados por 20 minutos.
Puedes barnizarlos o espolvorear un poco de azúcar impalpable ( a gusto de cada quien o simplemente dejarlos tal cuál).

It's a grey dreary day and I have so much housework to do and a baby that didn't sleep last night. I came very close to skipping the gym this morning. But I went anyway, & am so glad I did (even if it was single leg day @empowerfitshpk !).
On Saturday I was feeling a bit off; just weird and emotional & in the end I chalked it up to having not exercised that day. It's totally ok to have emotional days, and totally ok to take a break from the gym - sometimes both are necessary! - but it did make me appreciate how important moving my body has become for my mental health. I can leave it all in the gym, and it's become such an important start to my day. .
I finally made chicken that didn’t suck 😂 💃🏼 🎉 !!! Thanks to @sara.haven for the how-to. This is her Lemon Garlic Honey Sage Chicken recipe + @traderjoes mashed sweet potatoes & pan roasted broccolini (just did it in the same skillet after the chicken).

A year ago I was doing the same thing. Prepping to get on stage under really bright lights, with a really dark spray tan, and a really sparkly bikini. 👙 .
The fitness competition world that I’ve seen is full of strict eating, training, posing. It can be stressful to feel like you’re being out worked, someone is eating even more strictly, someone is training for even longer, or doing more cardio, someone is practicing their posing for even longer, or someone has a better coach, or a better bikini, better hair extensions 😂. The comparison game is strong. .
But I won’t play that game. I’m so excited to be stepping onto the stage on Saturday fully me. I’m not following a conventional stage prep protocol, and it’s allowing me to show up relaxed (mostly 🙄) and still confident in my body. Side note: they call it package, as in the package I’m bringing to this show is my best yet. First off, package is hilarious bc I have the sense of humor of a 15 year old boy, but package is also NOT the word I want to use to describe my body. 📦 .
I will bring my strongest 💪 self, my most radiant smile ☀️ , my sassiest walk, my best posing 👙 , but all that is not a package. I’m a human, celebrating the work I’ve done, the work I’ve ENJOYED doing, because trophy 🏆 or not, I love the way I look and more importantly I love the way I feel.
So yes, both clear heels 👠 and a basketball 🏀 make up who I am. And they will both be on stage with me. I know a lot of women would label this as scary, or something they would never do, or something they would have to change themselves for. But this is all me - working towards this competition specifically, has only enhanced me, brought out more of all the awesome things that make up Kara. I gotta start this off by saying....I HATE working out without a shirt on!! As a coach I'm always learning more about people and most importantly myself! And one truly inspiring coach on my team led us in a discussion this past weekend about how to get vulnerable. Because guys, our vulnerabilities hold us back and make us weak! They make us hid away. When you expose them, you don't give them the dark they need. You give them the release YOU need!
Being vulnerable can mean many things to different people. But for me, right now, its showing myself in it's TRUE state.
This is my mom bod. The one that jiggles when I jump. The one that has housed two beautiful babies and two more soon to follow. The one that has had sleepless nights worrying about the future. The one that puts my family before me. The one that's still always searching for growth.

Ja za telefon i na 12 miałam wizytę, lekarka odrazu mi powiedziała ze coś jest ale to nie guz!! Dziewczyny kamień z serca mi spadł uwierzcie. Jakiś woreczek owodniowy bądź zastałe mleko jeszcze dla potwierdzenia w czwartek badanie USG piersi. Ale pół dnia praktycznie było ze łzami w oczach. Bo tak się przestraszyłam. Kochane i apeluje badajcie się podczas kąpieli 🙏

As most of you know, our little family is about to embark on a 3 year long adventure. @adam_biehl and I will be working in a way that will take us to places around the world, and the best part is that our girls get to go with us!! The amount of excitement I have for the next few years can not be described, but I have to admit...I sometimes daydream about when we return to the US for good. I can tell you what my dream home would be like, and it will most definitely include a large open kitchen! I want to be able to promote a healthy relationship with food for my girls by teaching them early on how to make well-rounded, healthy meals. A PLANE HAD TO LAND EARLY BECAUSE OF HER!!! I have so many friends who have had the same benefits!! #wow#whyishare 😳 “A few years ago I was on the floor in the middle of an aisle in an airplane crying because of stabbing stomach pain. The airplane did an early landing in Cincinnati, hauled me off on a stretcher out the emergency exit door and took me via ambulance to the ER. The doctors and nurses on board the flight could not figure out what was wrong with me. 💥💥💥I was so constipated that my lower intestine nearly exploded with the pressure change as we gained altitude. It had been eight days since I had used the bathroom.💥💥💥 This was an ongoing issue for me.
Trust me when I say I tried ALL THE THINGS.... Eat well, elimination diets, probiotics, voo-doo magic..... 🙄 I was at my skinniest weight but so unhealthy. I would bruise so easily, my body odor was potent 🙈, my periods were so unpredictable and no doctor could give me answers. I was losing my mind and I knew these “mystery symptoms” were all connected. But how?
ENTER GUT HEATH. I started researching and I kept coming back to gut health. This idea of tackling root issues!!! So after years of me making eye rolls and public judgy posts about network marketing, I secretly tried the system. I told my friends I’d never be “that girl” raving about LIFE CHANGING blah blah blah😂🙈🙄..... But within a week I noticed changes. ONE WEEK after years of being miserable.

If you watched my stories yesterday I shared how puffy and inflamed I felt. We were just getting back from a weekend trip where a few things happened: 💤I went to bed a lot later then usual (less sleep)
💧My water intake was significantly lacking
🍴We enjoyed some amazing splurges and I snaked a bit more then usual (hello sodium increase)
🚲 I put in a few tough workouts 😊 fluid retention as muscles repair)
🚗 We had a 5 hour drive in the car to get home
I KNOW allll those things DO NOT equal good weight loss for me! So seeing the scale jump up was no surprise because I know those things because I track them and have found patterns!! .
Total freedom you guys! No more feeling ashamed when the scale goes up, because I now know why! That why puts you in control. You are in the driver's seat baby and you know how to fix all that, just like I did yesterday! ✔low sodium foods
✔lots of veggies
✔a good cardio sweat session
✔ALL the water (150 oz!)
✔7 hours of sleep
Don't give your power away to the scale. Let it give the power back to you! 👊 You can do this! You just need to flip the script on how you look at your tools. Can I get an AMEN!! 🙏

What a difference a year can make!!!
These pictures were taken a week shy of a year a part and while yes you can notice a major difference…52 pounds to be exact, but when I look at these pictures side by side, I see more than weight lost. In the first picture I see a girl who lacks self-confidence, I see someone who even when she is smiling she truly doesn’t look happy. I see the pain in her eyes. I went that year as a broken doll and how fitting was my Costume b/c I was broken, I was sick and tired of feeling the way I felt, and this night was one of the turning points for me. In the most recent picture, you can see the happiness in my eyes, I never felt more comfortable in my skin then I do now, and I can’t even explain the feeling. This journey that I am on hasn’t always been easy like it is now, but boy if you stick to it the journey pays off. My 1-year ketoversary is coming up and I am feeling amazing and extremely proud of myself for all my heard work and dedication and for simply giving it a go and staying with it. I have never stayed this long on a diet and the key to it all was making it a lifestyle. If you are in the thick of it stay strong it truly pays off, if you’re on the fence about trying it I say dive in you won’t be disappointed and if you tried it once and failed its ok I did also a few years back…try it again. My non scale victories of the day was I drank 120oz of water, my nutrition was on point today today- which is a huge win, especially being in the 3rd trimester of this pregnancy and literally wanting anything and everything fried🤷🏼♀️- and I felt great during my cardio sesh today. What was a non scale victory of yours on this Monday!?

Life is full of suffering, acute and benign. We come down with the flu. We are hit with a costly expense. Someone with power over us abuses their responsibility. Someone we love lies or hurts us. People die. People commit crimes. Natural disasters strike.
All of this is commonplace and inevitable. It happens. Everyday. To us and to everyone else.
That would be bad enough, yet we choose to make this pain worse. How? By pretending we are immune from it. By assuming we will be exempted. Or that only those who have somehow deserved it will find themselves in the crosshairs of Fortune. Then we are surprised when our number comes up, and so we add to our troubles a sense of unfairness and a stumbling lack of preparedness. Our denial deprives us even of the ability to tense up before the blow lands. “You should assume that there are many things ahead you will have to suffer,” Seneca reminds us. “Is anyone surprised at getting a chill in winter? Or getting seasick while on the sea? Or that they get bumped walking a city street? The mind is strong against things it has prepared for.” This is premeditatio malorum. What is likely to happen? What can possibly happen? What are the tortures that life inflicts on human beings? And then, more importantly, am I ready for them? Have I strengthened my weak points? Do I have what it takes to endure this suffering?
