  • Hello!
We’re back from the no-network paradise called Spiti Valley.
Where your phone is only used for taking photos, playing your favourite songs and some games if you keep em. Where BSNL is the only network provider and you use it to tell your mum, dad or someone you call your own that you’re okay. Where chai is your favourite beverage and you stop in the middle of nowhere at some dhaba just for a cup of golden chai. Where the wind sometimes kisses your face and sometimes just slaps the daylight out of you. There’s no romanticised notion of coming home attached to this valley, it’s just like watching your favourite bands play for days and then you go home. It’s where your promises of coming back are immortalised because that’s just what the valley will keep for you. 🏔

Okay so back me up here, but everyone has a picture that makes them immensely happy to the core when they see it.

You can actually hear the sounds, feel the air and this automatically brings smile to your face. Its like you’re not even present, you’ve just gone back to that moment.

This picture is my happy picture!

The cold wind smashing my face but I still couldn’t bring myself to pull up car’s window because ohmygodd have you ever looked at such beauty? Well I didn’t. This was the first time I saw snow this closely, so close that I could touch it.

In that moment, I was the most alive!🦋

  • The first thing we came across whilst researching about Spiti was Key Monastery and it was a picture of this very place that made us want to plan a trip to this valley. Perched on top of a hill at an altitude of 4166 metres, this fort like structure dominates the landscape. Key Gompa dates back to around 1000 AD and is the largest monastery in Spiti. It’s a Tibetan Buddhist training centre and houses over 300 monks.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We were given a warm welcome by the monks and a piping hot cup of tea which helped us defrost our fingers. They gave us a tour of the place and we got to learn about their way of life in this harsh terrain. You can also stay at the monastery to get a deeper understanding of the Buddhist way of life and this is something we plan on doing during our next visit.

Have you been to a Buddhist monastery? If yes, where?

  • India- Himachal Pradesh, Andretta 2019. This beautiful lady was with her two cows when she caught me taking pictures of nature. She couldn’t speak to me nor could I to her, but somehow she caught my attention. I think she was suggesting I took photos of her cows too. In being so lost in translation, we found ourselves smiling at each other a lot. That’s when I asked if I could take pictures of her. She agreed. We spent the rest of our interaction saying the word “pretty” to each other and smiling. Having a great time not understanding people in India, it’s forced me to connect in different ways than language can. It’s been a very humbling experience in its own way 🧡🇮🇳 #india #himachalpradesh #portrait #photographer #cinematographer #cinematography #camerawoman #sony #sonyportraits #a7rii #femalefilmmaker #dp #dop #womeninfilm

  • || --The Tosh Village-- || 😊

The breathtaking view was captured when I visited that place in the month of February,2019.

Really, Himachal Pradesh is full of precious gems that serve as unique beauties in each season. This village is one such gem lying at a height of 7900 feet on the top of hill surrounded by mountains from all the sides. It's around 15-20 km from the famous Hippies town- Kasol.

The best time to visit Tosh is from April until October because in winters the whole village is covered with snow(temperature < -5°). However, if you want to enjoy the snow like me, you can opt for November to February.
