"I've been trekking in India from last 5 years. I already did many high altitude treks in West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh. But in Sikkim the weather is most unpredictable which makes the trail more Adventurous and little bit tricky. During our Goecha la trek, the weather became one of our biggest problem. As most of the time it was cloudy and snowing there. While descending from Dzongri top which lies at an altitude of 4230 mt above the sea level, we faced a Zero visibility situation and it was really nerve-racking and scary."
We @stories.of.himalayas bring to you the amazing experience from the majestic Himalayas.

. @mynotesontravel shares: The greatest threat to our environment is the belief that someone else will come and save it. With so many people visiting the mountains every year, a huge challenge is to preserve mountain environments and as responsible trekkers, it is our duty to save them. Not all of us can make huge contributions but we can start with smaller yet significant ones. One such initiative is taken by the Indiahikes team where they have been funding the Green Trails project for the past 8 years to leave the mountains in a better condition. This green bag tied on my waist is called the Eco Bag. The idea is to collect all the recyclable, non-recyclable, paper and tetra pack waste that you find in the mountains and bring it back to the base in this bag. Once you are back to the base, you segregate this waste, which is then recycled or upcycled. Things like soft plastic stuffed pillows and bottle bricks are made out of these. It is truly inspiring how people take these small yet significant steps to preserve our mother nature and I urge all of you to take these small steps whenever you go to the mountains, beaches or forests or even in your day to day life, because all of these steps will help us build a better future for ourselves and the generations to come :) Follow @ihgreentrails for more updates on the initiative

Mountains are vulnerable, Save Nature Save Future, don't litter any waste while traveling, always carry waste bags and use dust bins.
Can a series of similar photographs become monotonous?
Not for me. Because every one of them tells a different story. .
This one tells the story of how life is changing in Spiti. How people are abandoning their traditional homes for the supposedly better concrete structures. Will those new homes stay cool in the blazing sun? Will it keep them warm on a cold night? It would be so sad to see these beautiful old houses go. But then. How do I tell them not to do so? Who am I to tell them not to do so? They have their dreams & aspirations too. Just like me and you.

ढलती दोपहर का सूरज बादलों की ओट में जा छिपा है। दूर पीछे कोने में हरमुख पर्वत की गोल चोटी बादलों से झांकने की कोशिश कर रही है। Deep in valley just beyond the edge of this small lake is the camp, where we dumped our bags after day's trek, had a quick sip of juice and climbed upto this hidden lake surrounded by loose stones and boulders. It wasn't an easy outing though!!
The pass is at 4170m altitude connecting West Kameng and Tawang. With a lake at the pass, the view is brilliant. The roads are good till Dirang, post which you are the mercy of landslides and sumo driver

• • • #Kalpa , the main village of #Kinnaur , in the #Sutlej River Valley is a place to remember and cherish. Known for its many beautiful temples and monasteries, this town is also famed for its apple orchards. The majestic Kinnaur-Kailash range peeking from across the Sutlej River makes for a blissful break.
An early morning walk through this paradise will give you a chance to experience magic and mystery with the sunrise. The pinkish hue on the peaks that slowly gets tinted with the golden glow is a sight to behold. Adorned with rich flora and fauna, this small hamlet is a must visit destination.
