The Monster Building (Yik Cheong Building) in Hong Kong was built for public housing in the 1960s. It’s featured in a few movies since (Transformers, Ghost in a Shell), and now it’s an Instagram hotspot. People are living their lives inside this building, but it’s become so busy that someone has opened up a Scandinavian Cafe on the ground floor of the building to serve the Instagrammers visiting. It was bizarre visiting here, it felt like the clearest example of gentrification I’ve ever encountered. #wewokeupinhongkong
