All roads lead to romance, especially the ones in Hội An! @milesofsmiles._ got up early to explore the charming alleyways and bougainvillea-lined streets. Once the Ancient Town officially opens it's a pedestrian and bicycle-only zone. Breeze by historic shophouses on two wheels or set off into the countryside for a rural sidecar excursion with @victoriahotels. ⠀

Just met with Quang Nam Tourism (Hoi An). The government and tourism bodies are in a major push to make Hoi An ‘Greener’. Electric ‘taxi’ shuttle buses, encouraging refillable use of plastics and containers. There’s a long way to go, for sure, but great to see. What d’you think? 👍😊☄️

Nestled among a tropical haven of 4500 breezy palm trees, the three tiers of infinity pool - the upper most heated Family pool, Lap pool and quiet Olympic-sized pool - cascading down the Resort’s centre to the blue East Sea, is your perfect spot to #FSTakeYourTime and immerse in the mesmerizing beauty of Vietnam’s heartland with the ones you love most. #fourseasons#hoian
It’s crazy to think that just a few days ago I was in a country that is so incredibly different than the US, yet so beautiful. Vietnam was never on my list of places to visit, mostly because I had no idea that it had so many beautiful places to visit and don’t speak the language.
With the help of two awesome friends @misskimmtn & @victrolabear we were able to explore the country in a way I could have never imagined. We were able to visit local hotspots and spend the equivalent of $1-2 for an entire meal (including a beer!), we were able to visit some amazing cities (Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue were some of my favorites), we rode bikes in Hoi An (and its not an easy task with the lack of traffic laws-I almost got hit by a car twice), we climbed 500 steps to the top of Dragon Mountain to see some of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever seen, and we explored the big cities and bargain-shopped.
#myvietnam 15.6.2019 just after midday and a motorbike falling in my knee and a twisted ankle and I'd arrived at #myson
My Son was one of my favourite little towns in all of #vietnam . It is rich with Hindu temples that were constructed between the 4th & 14th century.
The temples are dedicated to the worship of the God, Shiva.
I highly recommend renting a motorbike in #hoian and riding to these incredible temples.
(2016) One of my favorite cities in Vietnam. Arrived at night time after a long day on the road. You can't help but want to slow down and forget about your busy lives while you are wandering these streets and alleys.
In a way, traveling is also about pushing one's own limits, no matter how tiny those limits are. In my 29 years of life, I always had this phobia about cycling. I tried before but could never learn it. The task of balancing oneself during the ride seemed scary and I could never go beyond a few meters. As I grew up, I almost started to see it as an analogy for balance (or lack of it) in life. This tiny thought was exhausting and was in most times a trigger to anxiety.
Today too was just any other day. We were thinking of exploring the Hoi an locality on cycle and it turned out that I was the one who couldn't use a cycle. I don't know why but when we came out of the resort, I went ahead, took out a bicycle from the stand and just started trying. I kept trying until I could. It took me around 20 minutes to be able to get hold of the bike, and I'll never forget the focus that my mind gifted to me in those 20 minutes.
Vietnamese basket boat heading back out to the fishing fleet. The basket boats were a response to a tax imposed on wooden boats by the French colonial rulers. The woven basket boats were not caught by the tax. Quite why the Vietnamese fishermen have stuck with round, woven boats is anyone’s guess!!
