Our pumpkins have another good use - great for cats! I made #pumpkinsoup as it's a cool day so perfect weather for it. Toki was dead keen to check out our bowls and loved it! Checking online it seems there are great health benefits for cats. https://www.cathealth.com/cat-care/nutrition/2199-is-pumpkin-good-for-cats Who knew?
Igor, one of three roosters we kept from last year’s chicks. We tried to keep three that had different desirable traits that we could use to breed into our line. Igor, has great red colouring and really heavy brows. At only 8 months old he certainly has some potential. 🐓

I've never seen this chicken in my life. Crazy how often that happens! Unless she's from @frippfarm she was dumped here.
Random poll! Do animals just *show up* on your farm? So far this year alone we've acquired one dog, one rooster, and one drake.
That's what I feel every.single.time I turn on my faucet. Ben and I lived without running water for 5 years. 5 years! It was by choice, and because every other homesteading project seemed so much more pressing each year. When you go without ammenities, every addition of modern life pleasures feels like a life changing Christmas.
It is so easy to get caught back into taking things for granted. And, although I know I won't uphold it perfectly, I vowed to never take running water for granted again!
What do you have in your life that you take for granted? Look around you. A bed? Water? A roof? Temperature control in your house? Clothes? Shoes? Family? Friends? Food? Legs? Eye sight?
Imagine how you would feel without the things you have. How would you cope? Can you even fathom all of the things that would change about your life?
Let us please show gratitude to those around us and to God. Let us feel gratitude and embrace it.
I love you all! ❤Amy
The chooks are currently working over the next garden bed, so I tossed them some straw to spread out as mulch. Baby wearing means Neith gets a bird's eye view and spends the time calling for the cats, ducks, and chickens. Win win for all.
