Our home for the next three days 😍 We’re currently in Les Monêtier-les-Bains in France and we’re staying at a recently opened hotel @monetier_stabatio Great views, beautiful and smart designed room and a good restaurant too! Have you been to any new hotel recently?
Fly to Amsterdam every day from Humberside Airport. Spend the weekend exploring the streets on a bicycle and then watch the world go by from one of the city’s canal bars.
And if early mornings aren’t your thing why not book a stay at Hampton by Hilton Humberside Airport? ✈️ Gone are the days of skipping breakfast and running to your gate when you can wake up feeling refreshed! http://bit.ly/2dcB8SF
Rosecliff is a seaside summer mansion built by Theresa Fair Oelrichs. She was a silver heiress from Nevada. Don’t you know she had to do some fancy footwork and ladder climbing to become one of the preeminent Newport society hostesses? But one glimpse at her portrait leaves no doubt that she possessed great beauty and style. Out of the three houses we toured, this one made me feel a little sad. As the Gilded Age passed them by, these “old guard” ladies were faced with a change in society and big empty party-less houses. Theresa’s marriage wasn’t the greatest, and by her late 50’s she became delusional and wandered through the empty rooms of her summer home, greeting invisible guests. Harry Houdini once visited this house, and more notably Cole Porter stayed here and had his own room (see the pic where F gives me bunny ears). Allegedly, he may have written Night and Day while staying at Rosecliff. After Theresa died the house changed hands several times, and the ballroom became a room for ping-pong tables and roller skating. Eventually a couple from New Orleans bought Rosecliff and restored her to her original grandeur (all the light white paint throughout definitely gave me some airy southern vibes). Numerous movies were filmed here (including the 1970’s version of The Great Gatsby), and right now they have an Audubon art exhibit upstairs. The back lawn overlooks the ocean and the Cliff Walk. Overall, this tour was stunning, sad, and a reminder that we are all here on this earth for just a minute. It made me far less concerned with how my house looks, and more focused on hugging my people. #newportmansions#rosecliff#rhodeisland#gildedage
