  • Pacific Northwest has some of the most beautiful hot springs 👌.
On a scale of 1-10, how much would you like to jump in there right now? 😁

  • Went from the rainy Washington to the Alvord Desert in eastern Oregon—where you can pick up sage brush and rub it in between your hands and take a big whiff to clear your lungs. 🌵We’ve been blasting country music and moon bathing at night, and of course soaking in these hot springs. 🌙 ✨ Currently, there is clear blue sky with no clouds in sight, and im about to run around a ranch in the middle of nowhere with limited cell service. 🐎 Photos taken by @joshrneff, edit by yours truly.

  • Growing up in central Arkansas, I often went on day trips to the resort town of Hot Springs. ---
Being there reminds me of carefree days when all I had to worry about was what flavor of ice cream I was getting... 🍦

  • Hot springs always seen to invoke an idea of secrecy, little spots of romance you'll have all to yourself. I've found that reality is usually the very opposite of that imagined place. [5.13.17]

  • Day 24, March 23rd (Standing Bear Farm to Groundhog) 7.2 miles: Took forever to leave Standing Bear because the place was so chill. The workers kept saying I was going to end up zeroing there and were surprised to see me leave. I took my time going up the hill and took many breaks along the creek and other sites. I had finally switched to a slower paced hike. Stopped very short that day since I didn’t get out ‘til 1:30PM. Was at the shelter with Pitt and Logan. Logan showed us how to make a Ramen sandwich and discussed Missing 411...’Squatch. Mmhmm.

Day 25, March 24th (Groundhog to Deer Park Mountain) 23.0 miles: Heard the famous Fresh Grounds trail magic was at Lemon Gap so I set my goal for at least there. Saw Max Patch along the way and many families were up there. Made it to Lemon Gap and had 2.5 hours of trail magic. It was soooo late at that point, but I decided to move onwards. Didn’t know if anyone was going to follow behind me (no one did, everyone stayed at the Fresh Grounds trail magic for breakfast). Night fell and I planned on stopping at a tent site, but couldn’t find a good one. I was moving. Ended up going to the next shelter and didn’t stop hiking ‘til 9:45PM. Saw one large animal that was either a bear or deer. Scariest part of night hiking is seeing all the animal eyes shining back at you.
Day 26, March 25th (Deer Park Mountain to Laughing Heart Hostel/Hot Springs, NC) 2.9 miles: Felt like I had lost my mind from the night before lol. And I was pretty dehydrated. Took it slowly down into Hot Springs and ended up at Laughing Heart Lodge. Saw a bunch of my tramily that day while in town and had the BEST day on trail. The infamous Boone’s Farm night happened this day lollll.

Day 27, March 26th, zero day in Hot Springs, NC: Went to the hot springs. And then back to the tavern, of course. This was a crazy few days. Oh, and Fresh Grounds ended up at Laughing Heart!

Day 28, March 27th (Allen Gap to Hot Springs, NC) 15.1 miles: Had Fresh Grounds breakfast and then a Triple Crowner slackpacked us to Allen Gap. First time slackpacking. It was so weird going backwards and seeing everyone I knew. Ended back in Hot Springs.
