My father, a self made man, spent most of his life in a 9 to 5 job. Ever since he retired though, he spends hours writing Poetry. He writes in four languages and every corner of his room has endless notebooks scribbled with his compositions. Writing is cathartic I feel, it heals you. He writes about his lost childhood, about partition, about love and countless other things. .
Years back, when I wanted to study to be a Chef, he gently nudged me to pursue my Masters in English Literature, which I did. He secretly wished me to write a book (still does).. but my heart lay elsewhere. How ironic then that despite not studying to be a Chef, life brought me back to my one true love, food.
I loved this power breakfast 😍 Started my day with the most delicious combo: one fried crispy egg with runny yolk, two toasts topped with peanut butter from @biozentrale_official (believe me, that’s the best peanut butter ever 🥜😍 and it’s not an advertisement, just sharing the love), avocado chunks sprinkled with chili flakes, cherry tomatoes and lamb’s lettuce (always seasoned with olive oil and salt and pepper before eating) 🍅🌿🍞🍳 I had such a great start into the new week, I smashed my early morning CrossFit session and then I had quite a productive day at work 🤗 Also not sure if any of you remember but after coming back from my holidays at the end of May, I’ve decided to do a cut (I have gained a few kilograms and didn’t feel good or comfortable in my body anymore) and it’s already almost end of week 12 of this fat loss phase and I am more than happy with my results 👍🏼 I have learned so much during this period and I want to share with you my thoughts and experience. Also comparing to my last cut that I did 3 years ago... It’s gonna be very interesting 💁🏼♀️ I’ll share everything soon. Enjoy your Monday, guys!! 😘 #breakfast#nutrition#mealprep#eatrealfood#eatbetternotless#hummus#iifym#macros#peanutbutter

Getting the perfect avocado to toast ratio has me like 🤩 no way I’d rather start the day than with a thicccc slice of sourdough toast with pesto + half an avocado 🥑 I love me a good sweet toast but I have to admit that the basic avocado toast will always be the winner in my eyes (and stomach)! Hope you all have an amazing day! ✨

STOP BUYING YOUR HUMMUS!
You can EASILY make it at home. I bet you have most of the ingredients at home already💁🏻♀️ Since I started making my own roasted red pepper hummus, I haven't bought any from the store since. Roasting the peppers myself creates a taste that you cannot buy. Plus you might spend less money if you only need to buy one or two ingredients! .

Finally tried this falafel shop downtown and I’m sad to learn they’re closing at the end of the month. The choices are great, it’s got the chipotle concept but with Mediterranean food. Their falafels and hummus are delicious! Definitely a wonderful selection of things for vegetarian and vegans. I hope I can try them once before they’re gone.

Lula kabob- one of our popular plates! Who’s ready for lunch?
We are loving this close up shot of our Pea Humous in @bitesbybekah delightful rainbow salad 🌈 . Have you ever used our Humous as a ready-made dressing of sorts? We think it’s a great idea to stir it through and make your salads extra creamy and delicious 😋.
DARK CHOCOLATE HUMMUS ❤️❤️❤️because I was so stressed out Saturday that I needed a bowl of chocolate to calm my nerves, but also a way I could feel 100% justified to eat chocolate mousse for breakfast. 🤪 I tried #traderjoes chocolate hummus last week and, while it was good, I wanted to make some modifications so everyone could enjoy! We’re talking NO processed oils, EXTRA tahini, and only 6 ingredients to bring you to chocolate hummus nirvana. It’s also, vegan, dairy free, and gluten free (but you wouldn’t know it 😅) The recipe is below (and on the blog) so get your spoons and stretchy pants ready! How would you eat dis combo?? The deets: chocolate hummus platter with beet crackers, strawberries, and crumbled chocolate coconut cookies #thecuttingveg#eatrealfood#hummus .
15-ounce can chickpeas (1 1/2 cups cooked), drained, rinsed well, and (optional) peeled
1/4 cup tahini
1/4 cup maple syrup or 2 Medjool dates, pitted and soaked in hot water for 5 minutes, to taste
1/2 cup cocoa powder (Dutch process or dark chocolate, if desired)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon pink salt salt
2 tablespoons water
In the bowl of a food processor, add all of the non-chickpea ingredients. Blend until the cocoa powder is well incorporated and the mixture looks well mixed. You want to build up air into the tahini so the longer, the better (I do mine for approximately 5 minutes or so)
Add peeled chickpeas and pulse until the mixture is smooth. You might need to add more maple syrup if it doesn't taste sweet enough to you. You also might need to add more water (1/2 tablespoon at a time, up to 2 additional tablespoons) to help the chickpeas break down and incorporate. If you want to add in any optional ingredients, do so once the chickpeas have smoothly blended into the tahini. Serve with any dippers, top toast, or just eat with a spoon. EAT
