Christmas began in somber silence at RESQ today, & it is with aching hearts that we inform you our beloved Grandpa Lucky passed away last night... Given the fact that Lucky was extremely old & suffered from a number of age-related issues, we knew it was only a matter of time before he sought new grounds over the Rainbow Bridge. Exactly 1 year ago today, his health had begun to deteriorate at a rapid pace. His joints were constantly aching, his heart was enlarged, & his bloodwork wasn't looking too good. Despite this, however, Lucky bounced back like the STAR he was, as if in a bid to say: "Don't worry -- I know you still need me so I'll stay with you a little longer!" And Lucky did exactly as he promised. He stayed with us for an entire year, making sure to spend quality time with each & every RESQ staff, volunteer & visitor, bringing laughter & light to our lives every day. 🌟
Even when he was found abandoned 3 years ago with a maggot wound in the roof of his mouth (he was at risk of choking on whatever he ate because it could go straight to his lungs), he was just as affectionate, brave, & tenacious. Our RESQ vets consulted a human dentist who grafted some skin from Lucky's lower jaw on to the wound, and one palate reconstruction surgery later, Lucky was pain-free & living life to the fullest in a place he knew he belonged 💛
He REFUSED to let his abandoners break his spirit, & though this Gwampa was the eldest of the bunch, he was the youngest at heart. Whether it was stealing food, playing fetch like his life depended on it, or barking to get all the other dogs in line during walks every morning -- Lucky's affection & spirit will remain with us, for it is now and forevermore a part of #RESQ . And so, with the dawn of a new Christmas, we draw strength & reassurance from Lucky's memory, and find the courage & resilience to work our fingers to the bone until EVERY abandoned pet like him knows that they, too, have a place where they belong.
Help us in our mission, so that no more Lucky's must face the brutal fate of abandonment. Join the #IBelong movement to turn what may sound like a dream into reality.

Community makes me smile. When I think of my life without this creative, silly, inspired community that I find myself a part of, I would be lost. It has taken years of growth, shedding, and creation to belong to the communities I find myself in today. How many of us have found ourselves in a community based on geography, history, and convenience? How many of you want to belong to a community built and fueled by authentic connection, inspiration, and support? @love.radha has created a book all about discovering, creating, and invigorating your community. With tools to help you do so. Ways to go inward and get clear on what you want. And specific ways to then take your authenticity outward into creating community. “At any moment, you have a choice to refresh and reset your energy.” If you want to take your community to the next level, dive into Belong and lead the way. #ibelong#belongbook@dybrkr#belong
💫 We think it's not probable for some things to happen, till we're surprised by their occurrence. We say We'd never fall in love with someone, with a city, a specific place, till we can't be completely ourselves once we're far.
When I first landed here, I was still not over the fact that I lost home, I have to start over again, it seemed impossible. I've lived denning the beauty of its shores and beaches. I couldn't handle its people's different accent and thought I was way better off without them. And yea I thought wrong.
I believe there's something special about my city, if you're charmed once, you can't escape it, no matter how hard you try, you're trapped. Tipaza is more than a name, it's a gate to the other worlds, the world we think we know and others we've no clue about. I may not be a daughter by origins, but I'm considered a daughter by my experiences and years I've spent here, not just that, I'm a daughter to you my city because I love that I feel like I belong to you, because I call you home.💙🌊🌍

Jesus + nothing = EVERYTHING🖤. “For Christ died for sins once and for all, a good man on behalf of sinners, in order to lead you to God. He was put to death physically, but made alive spiritually”

Good morning family, we're excited to spend Good Friday with you. "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
We met 7 years ago. When we showed up there, We didn't know then what we do now. And we weren't the same women then as we are now either. Thank Goodness! 🙌🏻
Sandi and I met at Brave Girls Camp in Feb 2012. It was an experience that changed us for Good!
We were cared for, loved on, encouraged and comforted. We learned how to communicate better, how to love ourselves better and how to extend love to others better too. We became better humans. We learned about things that were holding us back and what kind of boundaries we needed to have to have truer, more authentic and more loving relationships.
If your my friend, colleague, client or family then you know what I’m talking about. I’ve been fortunate to have had some GREAT connections this week, which have gotten me thinking a lot about what I’m made of. These are just a few core values that speak to me and I hope to attract in others as well.

“I have gone through a lot of challenges that exceed my age.”
At only 18, Nosizi Dube has:
❗️missed education opportunities ❗️faced discrimination ❗️felt unprotected
❗️never had an identity
Born in Kenya and from the #Shona tribe, she is a third generation stateless person. Her grandparents came to Kenya as missionaries in the early 60s and since then, the family has never been recognized as citizens.
Nosizi is attending a high level ministerial conference on eradicating statelessness in the Great Lakes region and has spoken on how the issue has affected her and continues to affect thousands of people in the region.
“I have hope that after many years, we can finally have an identity and be recognized as citizens.”
