It is generally eaten as a snack, Khaman Dhokla is also the part of the Gujarati Thali (cuisine) is an almost identical dish of Dhokla in look but, actually has lot many variations with its batter and taste in comparison with that snack.

  • Besan ka Halwa!
.
Happy Onam!
.
Besan Halwa is one of the most popular dessert from North Indian cuisine. It is made from besan/gram flour/chickpeas flour, very rich and delicious in taste, and especially very popular in festivals and functions. This is very easy to prepare with very less ingredients. If you like the flavor of besan/gram flour/chickpeas in sweets then you will love this Halwa. Your kids may gobble it up even before Besan Halwa has a chance to cool down.

  • Basundi is an Indian sweet especially popular in Western Indian states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. It is a sweetened thick milk dessert made by boiling milk on low heat until the milk is reduced by half.
It is very similar to north Indian sweet dish rabadi but slightly lighter version rabadi is thicker in texture. This slow cooked sweet dish is very popular during Navratri, Shraddha paksha, also occasionally made for guest during festival for lunch or dinner as a sweet dish.

  • Hello Monday!
Happy New week and New year for me as I have turned another year older today! I am never in love with having a birthday and I don't care much for the fuss. But I had a great great time with my lovely girls and hubby last night 🕛🎂🍰🎈🎁 it was surprise from my girls! Can’t ask anything for better! Forgot to take pics anyway kuch meetha ho jaye my insta family so sharing pic of my fav classic sweet Rasmalai!
#36thbirthday! #happybirthdaytome! .
.
Rasmalai is our family all time fav dessert, I have made before Kesar Pista Rasmalai, it has strong saffron and pistachios flavor and looks saffron yellow, but my girls always want simple one without strong flavor and color. Me and my husband love both versions, so most of time I make this simple white one as per girls demand, you all know the kids once they decide it is not good whatever you do they don’t gonna like it, so if your kids like it it means you won, understand the mom’s feeling ?😀

  • Leftover Rice Cutlets are crispy outside and soft inside, so delicious and no onion no garlic too, it is loaded with veggies like carrot, potato capsicum, sweet corn and you could also make this with few drops of oil by just using appe pan. Leftover rice cutlets are great as an appetizer or snack for any get-together. Usually in our Indian household we use leftover rice to make fried rice, curd rice, etc… So here I am with a quick and smart recipe of Leftover Rice Cutlets’ that will get you munching away the leftover rice. Enjoy these crispy cutlets with a sprinkling of chaat masala and serve it with chutney and ketchup.

  • Keralan Chicken Curry/ Keralan Kozhi Kuttan ......Made this very flavourful Chicken Curry following the recipe of @cookinacurry . This turned out to be absolutely yummm 😋. This creamy chicken curry had very strong flavours of saunf/ fennel, Kali Mirch/ black pepper and Coconut Milk. ⁣
I followed her Recipe completely except for reducing the ratio of dry ingredients like fennel, pepper etc.... according to our palate.⁣

Do try it guys...It's a highly recommended recipe....Pls check the @cookinacurry blog for it.

Street food in India comes with stories. About Pav Bhaji, I've learnt that this dish was invented for the factory/mill workers in the city of Bombay who worked hard and late in the night. Though it has developed more flavor profiles over the years, the bhaji is still a superb source of goodness from different vegetables. I prefer the home preparation without any food color and mild in spices as it matches the diet/food habits I am trying to build. 😍⭐
Hope you are having a #wholesome day !

  • When you're participating in your biggest bazaar yet next weekend, that will definitely be the last bazaar for awhile... And you're not a single bit ready for it. Haven't stocked up on achar, bottles also haven't bought/washed/dried. Tomorrow is a public holiday so the bottle-shops are closed. A family emergency in the past week had put a pause on the achar-making-schedule. Ingredients also not only haven't been bought, but hasn't even been ordered. Laughing so hard I want to cry 😅
.
But the most important thing, most productive thing to do right now is to pick out my outfits for the 2-day bazaar. Even if there's not enough achar to sell... At least I nampak kemas, cantik a bit right 🙈.
.
When my brothers' got married and moved out (yay!), I shifted most of my sarees into their cupboards (thanks for the space!)... So when going through these earlier, I asked Kakak, "Eh kat sana ada lagi kan?! She said," Ya tapi blouse tu semua you tak muat lagi". 🙄
.
WTV. These are enough options for now. And don't act like I'm the only one with this problem. This post doesn't even make sense. Bye.

  • Besan sooji Halwa.....one of the most tedious recipes of my Grand mother but if you get it right u can make it eyes closed....when I looked for the recipe that’s how it was narrated to me by my mother and I understood that’s how it was narrated to her when she asked to grandmother and to my grandmother when she asked for it, as roots of traditions and culture are very deep in our family especially when it comes to food and traditional home style recipes......the recipe itself sounds much like a rhyme with a rhythmic connotations attached it to the very end. Let’s see the Recipe - jitna sooji - utna besan, jitna sooji besan - utna ghee, jitna sooji besan aur ghee utni cheeni, jitni cheeni uska Aadha pani... bhuno besan bhura sunehra, chashni ho halki gadhi. Halki aanch pe utaro, halwa Kadhai chor ke aye. This is not much less than a story in itself and of course super interesting and exciting when we cook this every year during Muharram holy feasts (Hazri Dastarkhwan) #indianfood #lostrecipes #mughlaifood #regionalcuisine #foodculture #traditions #indianfoodstories #cheflife #indiancuisine #royalcuisine #royalcuisineofindia
