  • Pilea repotting with pumice ☺️
.
This is the second time I am repotting this plant in the last 6 months. It's been growing fast, first in my west facing window, with several hours of direct sun in the afternoon, then under a grow light, for 12-16 hours/day for the past few weeks. .
.
It ran out of space, it has been growing intensively so it was time to repot.
.
I started using pumice for my potting mix, instead of perlite. If you don't know much about pumice, it's a porous volcanic rock, usually gray in color. For horticultural usage it's mined and crushed and then graded according to size. It has a neutral PH value, and is sterile (free of pathogens, it doesn't attract or host pathogens). Using an inorganic component such as pumice, that doesn't decompose, helps maintain the soil structure and prevents compaction. The more pumice you add, the more it will save air space and reduce compaction of the substrate. .
.
A couple of studies have been conducted on the effects of pumice on agricultural and houseplant production. It was concluded that pumice helps substrates be more resistant to shrinkage and that it maintains air space between soil particles. I can tell you that I already enjoy pumice much more than perlite.
.
I had to use a butter knife to get the plant out of the pot. I used the knife along the edges of the soil, to push the soil away from the pot. I do it carefully, so I don't danage any of the babies that are in soil, but still can't be seen.
.
I pot all of my plants about one inch below the pot rim, so there is enough room to water.

  • It's been exactly twelve days since we posted a pup and plant pic and exactly twelve days too long. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope Ellie can make it up for you. 🐶

Oh and don't forget, if you love and puppers and plants as much as we do, head to the PLB journal for our advice on pet-friendly plants 📸 Photo credit to Ellie's mum @monicamarlene15 via @thesill

  • Bodhi my wild child, his fearless and will go head on into something and keep going until his achieved what ever it is he is trying to do! He is kind and loving and extremely emotional. He is way cooler than I will ever be and loves to be surrounded by people 24/7. He would be the first to the top of a mountain and the last one out of the sea. Bodhi you are incredible!

🌿URBAN JUNGLE (deleted post)

Plants make my house come to live. And they have many other benefits. They help to purify the air, by filtering indoor air pollutants like formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene, toluene, and benzene.

Also taking care of them helps me wind down after a busy day. There are even studies that proove that by simply touching a plant’s leaf for 2 minutes, you reduce your stress levels! For a healthy climate, don’t count on plants alone: regular ventilation, fresh colors, a comfortable seat and good pillows and an extra blanket if needed, help to make your life better and improve your overall wellbeing.

  • I got a Fishbone Cactus 🌵 🤩 Was a bit thirsty when I brought it home but it’s doing better now! This is probably the weirdest plant I have to this day! 😍

  • Loving the rain today. The juniper/sage and warm concrete smell is complete bliss.
Check out my three locations around town! Studio time will resume normal business next week. With it being performance week, resupply week, and pulling out my back- my schedule has been wonky. 💚🌿✌🏻

  • Thrilled to announce that we finally exchanged on our thatched house by the sea today 💃🏻🥳🎉 (there’s a sneak peak of the exterior on my stories) Two weeks until we move eeek!!! ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
For us our kitchen/diner has been the very heart of our home. The parties, late night soirées and the copious amount of food and drink devoured between family and friends will mean that we are seriously going to miss our botanical loving space 🌱 🌿🌴🌵If you swipe to the end you’ll see a sneak peek of the kitchen we’re inheriting 😅 🙈 On the upside I’m already planning updating this space into something we will love just as much if not more 🤗 watch this space 😁
