Jesse acababa de mudarse a Costa Rica 🇨🇷, y estando en tierras ticas notó el auge de la cerveza artesanal en ese país. Poco tiempo después surgió Manuel Antonio Brewing Company, en la ciudad del mismo nombre. ⁣

A dos años de iniciar operaciones, Jesse y Mat decidieron mudar su producción ✈️ de Costa Rica a su ciudad por diversas circunstancias. Sin embargo, decidieron mantener el espíritu de 'Pura Vida' costarricense 🎉 y por ello renombraron a la cervecería como Pure Project; además de ello, siguieron usando ingredientes locales y únicos en sus creaciones, y comenzaron a donar el 1% de todas sus ventas a ONG's que trabajan en pro del medio ambiente 🌱. ⁣

Hace mes y medio tuvimos oportunidad de visitar el tap/cervecería de Pure Project en Miramar, California 🏝️, y por casualidad nos tocó el lanzamiento de tres latas ese día. Fingers of Gold fue la que nos trajimos de souvenir, una Murky/Hazy IPA que se siente como una bomba frutal 🤤. Entre el sabor de la cerveza y la copa, por momentos sentimos que estábamos tomando una mimosa (para nada es queja); mango 🥭, naranja 🍊, mandarina y limón 🍋 son las frutas que más percibimos, en medio de un amargor suave y un cierre seco bastante agradable. Siempre es un placer descubrir nuevas cervecerías, y más cuando están comprometidas con causas sociales y además hacen grandes cervezas 👏🏻. ¡Salud 🍻! ⁣

Great Plains Brown Ale de Two Wolves, deriva su nombre del lobo de las Grandes Llanuras, también conocido como el lobo búfalo, o lobo oscuro, es una subespecie de lobo gris cuyo rango una vez se extendió por las Grandes Llanuras desde el sur de Manitoba y Saskatchewan.

Ya que estamos en el ánimo de donar para una buena causa les tengo hoy está chela donde parte de la venta de las mismas va a la conservación de los lobos de Canadá, en pleno espíritu de las chelas artesanales y sus creadores puedo decir que esta chela ya tiene puntos a su favor en mi apreciación.

Esta es una chela sumamente tomable, tiene una corona de espuma genial, bastante efervescente para mis sorpresa, muy bonita pero de poca duración, en encaje casi puedo decirles que es inexistente, pero la espuma que queda aunque no tan abundante como la inicial permanece durante toda la existencia de esta chela que puede ser larga o corta dependiendo de tu sed! Una cerveza de cuerpo bastante ligero pero sorprendentemente compleja, con un sabor a maltas tostadas y frutos del bosque relucientes en esa acidito final, en el aroma sentí chocolate aunque a la hora de probarla aparte de una melcocha escondida puedo decir que no le senti nada, solo lo rostizado de la malta. Un color muy apetecible, a simple vista oscura pero al observar atravez de una luz se ve un rojo rubí carmesí intenso con sombras café ¡genial!

Una chela sumamente tomable, nada super extraordinario pero muy buena para tomar al pie de la chimenea.

  • Sliced Nectarine IPA | Moody Tongue Brewing | ABV 5.9% | #TBT to Avery and I looking at some amazing deer made out of LEGO’s while I enjoyed a cold one. Please don’t report us for sneaking beer into the Morton Arboretum. I was drinking a sliced nectarine IPA; thanks to @natalieannekay for hooking me up! Say the word and I’ll never take a sip of Moody Tongue again, believe that. But for review purposes I will say this was a decent IPA. Nice tropical sweetness to start followed by a mild hoppy bitterness. For some reason I tasted more peach than nectarine, and there were citrusy notes in there as well. Subtle pine flavor to finish. Is there anything better than holding a babe, drinking a beer, and looking at fake deer? Didn’t think so.

It features one of our traditional pale grain bills - Pilsner, light crystal and a little toasty specialty malt - but we experimented with some naturally occurring Harrowgate Philadelphia cooties (yeah, we said it!) that delivered on a surprising sourness - just enough to leave us smacking our lips for more. We swung past G&G in Hamilton a couple weeks ago and picked up some gems. This is a 4.5% Lagered Ale with Saaz and Perle, it’s slightly opaque, foamy head that sticks around, bready nose, creamy mouthfeel, sweet and malty, grassy with straw vibes, it’s spicy, and it wraps up in a sharp, clean finish. Bomb.

  • “Mxyzptlk” circa 2017 from @bottlelogicbrewing & @jwakefieldbeer  is a killer double imperial porter that I was lucky to partake in (I have cool friends). Lots going on with this one. Notes of coffee, chocolate, rum raisins, & espresso beans. Very thick, sweet, and delicious. Cheers!

When we decided on the recipe for 2018 Deciduous, we knew that it was destined for barrel-aging. Dialing back a bit on the Fig addition to allow for Goodnow Farms Cacao Nibs, Madagascar Vanilla Beans, and Piloncillo Cane Sugar to shine, this American Strong Ale rested for a year in Woodford Reserve Double Oak Barrels. Thought-provoking and gently warming, we hope you share Barrel-Aged Deciduous 2018 on an evening spent with dear friends.

Bottles of Barrel-Aged Deciduous 2018  are available now on our online store for pickup beginning tomorrow, October 26th with a limit of two bottles per person. *Reminder* - If you miss buying from our online allottment, bottles for in-person sales will begin tomorrow at open! Plenty of vanilla and coconut 💥POW!💥 but easy drinking. ABV came in around 5.9% because my mash efficiency was a better than I planned. Oh well! This will def be a favorite for the holidays... 🎅🏼🌴🥥

    Plenty of vanilla and coconut 💥POW!💥 but easy drinking. ABV came in around 5.9% because my mash efficiency was a better than I planned. Oh well! This will def be a favorite for the holidays... 🎅🏼🌴🥥

Aloha State of Mind is our new Imperial Sour Blonde treated with Lilikoi, Guava, Coconut, and Lactose made in collaboration with our good friend Jayson from @LIFExLLAB. If you remember Shave'd Ice from last August, this is an amped up version of that beer with more fruit and almost double the alcohol percentage at 9.5%. Aloha State of Mind was inspired by Hawaiian shave ice, a popular treat from Jayson's childhood.

To create this beer we took our Imperial Sour Blonde base and added lilikoi (passion fruit) and guava puree towards the end of primary fermentation. Once fermentation ended, we recirculated the beer through raw Filipino coconut chips for a few days and then proceeded to prepare for packaging. The tropical flavors in this can be described as abundant and "in your face." The acidity is assertive but matches well with the flavors of the fruit.

Draft of Aloha State of Mind will start tomorrow (Thursday) and can sales will begin Saturday 11/23 at noon. 4-packs of this beer will be $24 and will be sold at a limit of THREE 4-packs per person per day.

This NEIPA features a new hop varietal to us, BRU-1, which sports loads of fruity Myrcene oil. It didn't disappoint, providing a plethora of pineapple smoothie and orange rind notes.
