DIXIE, #A064478 , female, Australian Cattle Dog, 1 year old, weighs 41 lbs
Calling our Blue Heeler lovers!! Dixie is a special girl in search of a home that not only understands the breed but with someone who is honored to be one of her "chosen ones". This gorgeous young lady was surrendered to the shelter when her previous owner said they had to "move". Dixie is confused and overwhelmed in the shelter setting. She is selective of her human friends, but there will be no denying if you are chosen to be in her circle. Typical of the breed, she is weary of meeting new people, but once she trusts you, her loyalty is unwavering and she will stick to you like glue. She may put her front feet on you in excitement, and she does okay on the leash but may pull with eagerness or she may resist when lacking confidence. When with her trusted friends in a secure yard, she tends to stay close by without the leash and has great recall. Her little nub will wag to let you know she is thrilled to see you. It's suggested that she go to a home without children or other dogs. If you're looking for a loyal Velcro dog, please consider Dixie. The staff will gladly introduce you to ensure it's a great match. She would love nothing more than to find a loving forever home where she will be cherished for the special girl she is.
