I used to detest for they were dreadful and dull unless
the stealthy backbench Nancy Drews I read or the occasional stitch kit frames and stuffed teddy bears. Sometimes the slumber was overcome on summer vacays while being dropped to & picked up from dance & badminton classes. Still the afternoon was always a hopeless period of slumber and isolation and more so if you went to sleep only to wake up to a dark evening sky. It’s just been two months that afternoons seem as natural as any other part of the day and I have begun to appreciate them and not just feel like I got to pass some time in a productive or meaningful way. Afternoons are a slumber no more but I’ve finally begun to live an afternoon as if it were lived by the people in an Enid Blyton’s adventure book, especially with three enchanting books I’ve been reading against or on an open getting-prettier-by-the-week space!
How do you experience afternoons - as dull or calming or just regular? How do you overcome the slumber, if at all? .
