  • Today was a day to take every single feeling I have- the good, the bad, the ugly and channel it in to 20 miles. These are the days when I have to focus on my WHY because Marathon training can be very lonely especially this time of the year and I know that you can train well and it can still all fall apart on race day so it’s important for me to just run the effort for each workout. 
Today I nailed it you guys- best 20 mile training run I’ve ever had! 
2 up, 8x 1 mile @7:55-8:00 w/ 1 mile recoveries 55 seconds to a minute slower per mile, 2 cooldown. It was raining hard for the first 8, snowing for pretty much the rest... and I hit every mile. 🙌🏻 Time to taper. 2 weeks to go time!

Heute mal verkehrte Welt🙃 Nachdem unverhofft die Weiterbildung ausgefallen ist und ich somit einen halben Tag mehr Zeit hatte, habe ich diese natürlich sinnvoll genutzt und noch eine kleine Runde auf dem Laufband gedreht.🏃‍♀️😊 Also momentan läuft es richtig super und ich bin schon total im Marathonfieber🙈 Ich kann es kaum noch erwarten, endlich an der Startlinie zu stehen😍😍 Ist irgendwie ein geniales Gefühl - vor einem Jahr noch undenkbar und heute in greifbarer Nähe😃

Ihr Lieben, ich kann euch nur empfehlen, setzt euch Ziele‼ Ziele beflügeln, motivieren und machen glücklich - auf dem Weg dahin und im Ziel ❤😍

So und jetzt werde ich noch in die Schulbücher schauen, denn das ist ein weiteres Ziel auf meiner Liste😊👍

  • There were important people in my life who, when I was younger, neglected me, abused me and let me down a lot of times 🌲. I am still confronted with all the scars from the past on a weekly basis. There are things so complicated, I can’t even wrap my own mind around it 🍃. Let alone talk about it.

To be honest, I was crying this morning on my way to gym because of a heavy conversation yesterday and a bad night of insomnia and nightmares 🕷. But I felt like, even if the whole world would let me down, I will not let down myself.

So, I grabbed myself together and pushed for 60 minutes 💓. Afterwards I thought: life can throw any kind of obstacle my way.. I will just lift it above my head and do 50 jump squats with it 🏋🏽‍♂️. I was built to handle this 🙏.

  • Run 2 Hours @ Comfortable HR Pace 🏃🏽‍♂️

Well.. The trails went from frozen to somewhat messy in two days, due to the heat wave and lots of rain. I decided to keep this one really comfortable, and do my best to maintain my “ALL DAY” HR. It worked out really well too because I only spent around 12 minutes outside of the zone. Pretty impressed with this one, especially since I got some decent vert. Another 8 miles tomorrow to wrap up my down mileage week.

  • It would be wrong and misleading of me to hide behind the bad races but today really wasn't my day and it took all that I could to smile in this photo.

I've not yet felt so disappointed after a race and I'm unsure where this sudden pressure I put myself under came from.

Southern XC champs. How did I get back here? I didn't think I'd be putting myself through championship races amongst some absolute incredible talent but there I was... amidst insane mud and some even crazier hills!

I've had some good races over the last half a year and at the time of entering I thought, "I can do this!"

I struggled big time and I stopped enjoying it after about 3km - this isn't why I run. I run to enjoy it, without pressure, and hope to enjoy it!

I aimed top 100 but I secretly wanted top 50. I came out 68th after blowing up - a respectable position all the same.

It's done, dusted, but I think it's back to the roads for me!

  • 🚨 Long (but worth it!) post warning ⚠️ :
Yesterday’s (5K) and today’s (10K) miles were super important. I had taken a purposeful break from running; my body and brain just were frankly drained. I knew I’d be hitting the pavement again soon since I have the Chicago Marathon this October, but I wasn’t quite in the mind space of getting back out there just yet. Then Friday morning comes around and I have an email. An email that was honestly the last thing I expected. Months ago I had applied for a charity runner place to run the London Marathon this year. Not surprisingly the competition is steep and I did not end up with a place. Until now. Due to a withdrawal I’ve been given the opportunity to tackle the London Marathon. In 91 days. Yup! I couldn’t imagine saying no, but I needed to make sure I could take this on. I’ve laced up yesterday and today and much to my surprise I felt strong. Like great, actually! Today’s longer miles (6) left me with a few moments of walking, but they were still strong and I felt like I could keep going! Even right now, I feel like I could go out for some more! I’m not naive to the undertaking ahead of me since this will be my 6th marathon. It will be work, but it’s work I feel I’m up to both mentally and physically. (And here I will insert a major shout out to my new-ish @rowhouselovejoywharf fam. If it were not for all the meters on the erg and strength training on the mats I’ve been doing since September, I absolutely know I’d be in no physical shape to be accepting this challenge right now. 🙌🏻🚣🏼‍♀️) So, with all that said, I’m excited to announce I AM RUNNING THE 2020 LONDON MARATHON!! A proud member of #TeamSpinal and @SpinalResearch Lots more to come about this amazing cause that many of you know is very near and dear to my heart with opportunity for you to help support me if you’re able. London, here I come!! 💪🏻💪🏻

  • 7 miles in the snow! Tested out my new rain jacket from @outdoorresearch. I was still pretty wet when I got home but the brim on the hood did a great job keeping the snow out of my face. I just can’t find a waterproof jacket that’s ACTUALLY waterproof.

Aber nicht jeder hat Zeit und Geld für einen Trainer. Auch die Vereine bieten nicht immer die passende Gelegenheit. ⁣
Mir geht es ähnlich. ⁣

Zwar hatte ich in der Schule einen Sport-LK, allerdings ist das auch schon wieder 10 Jahre her und das Wissen längst nicht mehr so präsent. ⁣

Also ging es heute spontan in die nächste Bibliothek, um ein wenig Literatur abzuholen. ⁣
Entschieden habe ich mich für „Das große Laufbuch“ von Herbert Steffny und ein Buch mit Core-Workouts. ⁣
⁣
Ich finde es wichtig nicht nur auf eine Quelle, z. B. das Internet, sondern auf mehrere Quellen und Methoden zu setzen. ⁣
⁣
Außerdem sind Bibliotheken eine gute Sache. Man muss das Buch nicht direkt kaufen. Entsprechend verstaubt es nicht im Regal. Wenn es nicht gefällt, kann es zurückgehen. Dazu ist es auch noch unfassbar nachhaltig und günstig. ⁣
