  • Today we have been on the road for one year! 🎉

When we started our 10 year world tour in Finland we wouldn’t have guessed that we would be in Senegal today.

Our original plan was to cycle to Portugal, and then turn towards Asia. Instead we started to cycle south along the African West Coast and learned more about the world than we have in all of our lives so far.
The time on the road has taught us a lot. The biggest lesson: Always be kind to people. The world is big and beautiful, and for every hard moment or harsh condition there is at least ten amazing things to appreciate. As long as we keep learning, we want to continue this adventure. And we can only imagine it is endless.

Thank you to everyone who has joined us on our journey here on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. We appreciate every comment, like and message even if we don’t always have the time to answer everyone. Your incredible love and support encourages us to improve and continue to share more of our thoughts and experiences.

Thank you to the amazing people who have hosted us along the way, helped us in other ways and shared beautiful moments with us:
Ulla, Cia (sorry about the bathroom sink! /Peyman), Patrik, Thorsten, Klaus, Helge, Ulla and Lena, Emma, Martin and Beate, Simon, Loïc, Francis, Floriane, Julia, Jo and Henri, Elena and Brais, Muhamed and Nabila, Nordin, Charlene, Felix and Cloé, Nasser, Bernhard, Maija, Jaime and Juanita, Enric and Miriam, Bruna and Roc, Salvador, Petteri, Jorge (sorry about the bed, toaster and fridge! /Peyman), Nano, Jose, Rich and Gill, Irina, Francoise and Clotaire, Chaymae, Scott, Rita and Fernando, Sophie and many, many others.
And the biggest thank you of all to our family and friends, we love you and miss you a lot.

With one year down, we can’t imagine what the next nine years of adventure will bring. But we are ready to find out.

  • I used to hate hiking and complained when any friend suggested hiking as a fun activity to do that day. Instead of finding reasons to enjoy the hike, I would make joking comments about how boring it was and “I’m just not a hiker” (I was the worst hiking friend) Looking back now, I couldn’t have been more wrong. I didn’t want to enjoy hiking, so I didn’t allow myself too. I remember listening to a podcast, I can’t recall which one now, but they were talking about shifting your mindset. If you tell yourself something enough times, you’ll start to believe it. It’s important to be open minded and even though I thought I hated hiking, I was really just out of shape and hated being out of breath, so saying to myself “I’m just not a hiker” made me justify the laziness. So I kicked my butt into gear and forced myself to go hike with an open mind... and guess what? I love hiking now.

After I let go of this negativity around hiking, I realized how incredibly rewarding a strenuous hike might be. Each switchback through the field of wildflowers or the small victory after you complete a steep section. When you finally glance up from staring at your feet and navigating the rocks ahead, you start to find the beauty in the wild that surrounds you. • Picture this. You’re driving south on some little desert highway in Utah.⠀
⠀
You’re quite literally in the middle of nowhere. There are no gas stations, no sign of much civilization.⠀
⠀
You eventually reach a town close to the Utah-Arizona border called Mexican Hat. (no joke 😂)⠀
⠀
Shortly after that, you’re looking down the iconic long straight road that leads to views of these incredible natural “monuments” in the Navajo Valley. ⠀
⠀
A truly unique and unforgettable place 🏜 ⠀
⠀
It’s about time I dig through the archives of my photos from this epic National Park trip in the southwest!!! Get ready for more.
