Just me here staring adoringly at my POM POM chandelier after busting it out of the closet. 🤩⠀
I’m SO excited to be back in my element to begin setting up for my new class fam. Usually I start by figuring out the layout of my room (aka moving all of my furniture around and then settling with putting it back to its original location.🤣) ⠀
Then I place my statement pieces. First and foremost, this exquisite piece. I had a vision for this and then my sweet friend @alwayssweetdee helped make it come to life as we pompomed our little hearts out over Thai food and Pitch Perfect. I love telling my students to meet me under the chandelier for group work.⠀
Now where to hang it this year🤔⠀
What do you do first when you get in your room? ⬇️

"Let’s just all give @polka.dots.please a round of applause because THIS IS ABOUT TO CHANGE MY WORLD! She had the brilliant idea to use these doorbells from @sadotech_doorbell as a classroom management strategy. My next step is to create this as a classroom job and the new bell ringer will be the new favorite job. I see it now! A brawl on the rug over who is the next bell ringer." via @typeainprek
@classandcontrast has a REAL hack! Did you know that Tea Tree oil repels lice?wash your hair with @ogx_beauty Tea Tree Shampoo/Conditioner during the school week so you do not have to worry about 🕷 🐜 🤭
Jana from @weheartteaching and I have been up at the school a bunch this summer working on our special project! I can’t wait to see what the kids think of it. 🎈☁️🎈☁️🎈☁️🎈

One of my favorite quotes. I’m always aspiring to lift others up with kindness, love, and silliness. Starting the year off with our kindness theme makes me hopeful for another great year!

🚌💨“Maybe we're all a little broken. Maybe we're all a little fragile. Maybe that's why we need each other so much.”
🥇The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise By Dan Gemeinhart is my favorite book of the summer! I teach in Washington and have been a fan of Gemeinhart’s since reading the Honest Truth last year. Both follow characters on life-changing adventures as they find their true identities through their interactions with people (and animals) along the way.
Here is a wonderful synopsis of the story from @parentschoicefoundation 👉🏼Through an ongoing series of confessions, confrontations, and near disasters, Coyote, Rodeo, and their new bus mates teach one another valuable lessons about the joys and responsibilities of friendship, the importance of self-sacrifice, and the true meaning of courage. From start to finish, Gemeinhart's novel is a sustained hymn to the universal human need for love and acceptance.
While reading Coyote Sunrise, it will be fun to track Yager’s trip on a map of the United States, design a bus to live in with your family, and create a memory box to share with the class! #summerreadingdelsol#coyotesunrise#DanGemeinhart#mustread#newfavorite#MGlit#friendship#family#loss#identity#courage#perserverance#weread#weconnect#iteachtoo#iteachfifth#teachersofinstagram#teachersfollowteachers
Have you ever adapted a game to be able to work on a goal?! I love taking motivating games and changing the rules to meet my needs. One of my favorite games to do this with is Stare Jr. the game is played by memorizing a picture to answer wh questions- great for visualization and recalling significant details. But I like coming up with my own inferential questions too!! Why not?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I wrote a whole blog post with several ways to adapt this game to meet some other goals! Check it out 👉🏻 http://bit.ly/STF-stareblog

The best part of school starting on a Wednesday is that Friday seems to come so much quicker!
I loved meeting all my new students and have enjoyed getting to know them a bit these past couple of days. I can already tell this is going to be an interesting year!
But, really, TGIF! I am first "week" teacher tired. Time to put my feet up for real
We go back to school next week, so I whipped up this little free printable to give our son's teacher on the first day of school. Click through to my profile @hojo_teaches and click the link to get your free copy now!
Teacher of wild things! If that doesn’t sum up the first Friday of school, I don’t know what does! I thought about taking a #feetupfriday picture, but the truth is I was too busy after school trying to not fall asleep. 😂
Week 1. All about me. #ourteachingyearinphotos@adventureswithamanda_@mrsmacgregorsroom
I am going to try this challenge with you! 😀😀
1) My name is Leonor🌷I am a Spanish teacher who is now living and teaching in Scotland. Despite having over ten years of experience this is my second year in Scotland and everything seems new and exciting. It was not easy to find a teaching post as I didn't have any scottish references and I decided to apply as a supply teacher.
2) 💙I teach Modern Languages and I also started a Ph.D this year so God help me😂😂
3) I am from Tenerife and (fun fact) we share the same flag! 💙💙
4) I have three dogs and in case you are wondering....yes, I brought them over from Spain. I couldn't leave them behind!
My 3 year old headed off to preschool this year and I was so excited for him, but so nervous too! Preschool is not daycare! (Preschool teachers you are amazing 🤗) I walked him in his classroom his first day and his teacher greeted him by his name with a big smile at the door, helped him hang up his backpack, showed him where his lunch went, and had morning tubs at the tables filled with fun, hands on activities! My heart was so happy seeing tubs on the tables and not a worksheet to see if he could write or color in the lines. He was happy and I was SO happy! 💗💗
6th grade is the best grade!! 6️⃣
Today I started my 13th year teaching and this will be my 11th year teaching sixth grade math! I love the excitement the 6th graders have!😄
It was so good to see my former 6th graders as 7th and 8th graders this year! 💕
It is going to be a great year!✨
What grade level do you love teaching?
Post number 300 everybody! 🧡
Let’s celebrate by playing a game as a little twist on #FridayIntroductions ... two truths and a lie! How well do you know me? Can you pick out which statement is not true out of the three below?👇🏻👇🏻
1️⃣ I hiked through the rainforest in Ecuador.
2️⃣ I cliff dove in Jamaica.
3️⃣ I was a cast member at Walt Disney World.
Share your guess below and your own two truths and a lie if you want to join in the fun. I’ll share the answer to mine in stories tomorrow!
Almost slept through my alarm, drank a few extra cups of coffee today, had a piece of birthday cake at lunch 🤷🏻♀️ said about a handful of kids names wrong and stared at the wall for a good 15min during my planning. Does your first week ever feel like a whirlwind? Happy Friday teachers, you survived the first week of the school year! #iteachtoo#middleschoolteacher#teachersofinstagram#2019teachersfollowloop

Now that I'm officially headed back to the classroom, I picked up some back to school goodies from @Walmart.
Did you know that you can order online and pick it up in stores? Fred, the resident shopaholic in our relationship, recently taught me this! From my bed, I searched Walmart.com, placed my order and picked it up in stores. Don’t get me wrong, I still browsed the store and picked up a few additional items however having a box of supplies already waiting for me decreased my shopping anxiety because I no longer needed to make the tough decisions in stores.
I’m excited share with all of you what I picked up but in the meantime—check out Walmart for their everyday low prices and allow them to ease you into back to school shopping! I may or may not be doing some more back to school shopping as I watch my shows tonight 🤷🏻♀️ #sponsored#Walmart#GoBackBig

I usually start the year with “Restart” but after reading “The Unteachables” at the beginning of the Summer, I just knew I had to start the year off with it. •
I always get questions about what books I recommend for read aloud and how I structure it. I try to get through a chapter a day. If we can’t get through a chapter then we read for at least 10 minutes at the end of everyday! No reflection or response, just reading to read. 🤷🏼♀️ And so far, my kiddos are loving this one! It’s our favorite part of the day. •
I’ve been so busy this week, I never posted about back to school! We just finished our first full week of school. And the kids met Copper today!

Are you a tote bag or back pack person?? I was totally a tote bag teacher for 10 years until last year I bought this backpack on a whim to use when I was pregnant and I’ll never go back! .
I’ve posted about this backpack before, but figured it was worth the repost since it’s officially back to school season. The best part about this bag is that it’s actually a diaper bag.. so there are tons of functional sections and compartments that are also perfect for a teacher! I keep my laptop in the section that typically holds the changing pad! 🙃 later this week, I’ll share a closer look on my stories so you can check it out further! I’ve also included a link to it on amazon in my profile if you’re interested!
✨First Feet Up Friday of the year! Y’all it has been such a wonderful and eye opening week. I LOVE my fourth graders and fourth grade team!
As most of you know I was extremely nervous to move to fourth. But in my heart I knew I had to trust his plan. When a form was sent out to explain if we wanted to move or not, I put “no, it will be my last semester of grad school and I’m going to be stressed.”. I ended up getting moved. However, when I went to one of my grad classes in the summer I realized they rewrote my program. I ended up having enough hours to graduate. If that’s not a God thing, then I don’t know what is! I’m feel like I’m exactly where I need to be. 💞
