  • Just one week left on our amazing trip to the UK to spend some much needed quality time with family and friends and I’m already busy planning our next trip😍Nothing has made me happier than witnessing Elijah’s joy playing with his grandparents, cousins, aunties and uncles and all of our extended family. I am so unbelievably proud of how much he has thrived being around so many different people and am forever in awe of his confidence and adaptability to new surroundings. It sounds cliche but I really do think it takes a village to raise a child. Obviously I’m having another totally soppy hormonal moment but gosh our little man is just incredible💕It’s certainly gonna be hard leaving everyone next week💔

  • “They” say it takes a village to raise a child. I’ll admit I’m not the best at leaning into my village. I’ve talked about that a little bit before- that it’s hard for me to ask for help. I’d rather not accidentally make anyone feel obligated or add extra stuff to anyone else’s plate. But what the heck, my kid has the BEST village! There’s so many people who love my baby unconditionally and completely. Like @brittany.briann for example. Arlo was sick all last week and she didn’t get to see him. Then on Sunday she texted me to ask, “Are you bringing cupcake to church today?!” (😂 I brought him!) She misses him when she hasn’t seen him in awhile, she reaches for him to snuggle and give him kisses, she puts in time with him, she even tears up occasionally and just says, “Why do I love you so much?!” Ugh. It’s so special. Thanks for loving him, Aunty Bev. 💙

  • V is for Village thanks @mumologist for creating this virtual village #iminyourvillage

Community, support, networks, inspiration, a place to turn to for guidance, sharing of stories, connection. That’s what a Village is all about.
This #instavillage has been amazing and has given me so much inspiration & along with my real life Village shaped the journey of #tranquilbirth over the last 2 years.
I love this campaign, it’s what inspired the #villagebabyshow a network of #southlondon pregnancy parenting and birth support, coming together to support our local community and families through their transitions of pregnancy, birth and parenthood.
It really does take a Village to raise a child and as @shenuma_ceo said on our #facebooklive yesterday a Child creates the village too. Having children rooted me to my communities in a whole new way.
When I started this motherhood journey 8 years ago today I needed a network, a Village but didn’t know where to turn in the vast new life I found myself in. 8 years on I’m proud to connect people now through the Village Baby Show and connect to so many on this virtual village. Supporting through pregnancy into birth and beyond.
If you see this consider yourself invited to join the campaign and know you are always part of this village. Your voice, your being here, matters so greatly.

  • V is for village ✌️ We're joining @mumologist today in celebrating our social village community.
We like to see the good in things here at Kindred Meets HQ. For us, our social media communications gives us the priceless opportunity to share, support & make meaningful connections with parents and like-minded organisations.
We created Kindred Meets to connect parents to each other and to their local community. The majority of people who use social media do so with good intentions. For new parents, it can be a lifeline. It can entertain the weary mum feeding her hungry babe in the middle of the night, and it's a place where you can reach out and find that there are many people having the same struggles and experiences as you.
At it's best, this space is about the joy of human connection. It's about creating a universal village. 💕

  • One year ago today, a group of kids (and parents) in our community came together to speak up and out against bullying. To say I was proud of them for using their voices to both vulnerable and brave is an understatement!

3/19/18: 'Tonight was our second Speak Up. Speak Out. event and the students and parents Brought. It. Special guest, Officer McGlenn stayed with us the entire meeting and the engagement and discussion was great! But the real stars of the show were the students, who shared from the heart, asked well-thought questions, and gave intentional answers...Every. Single. Kid. Talked. As parents we so often say that our kids don't want to talk to us, or they don't want to listen. Well any parent in that room can attest to the exact OPPOSITE. They DO want to talk to us. And they ARE listening. Their words, not mine. People who aren't at these meetings are missing out on a chance to hear straight from the people who matter most: Our youth. Our future. Thank you so much to those who see the VALUE in showing these kids we SUPPORT them, who are committed to their relationship with them, and who want to lock arms as a community to say we want BETTER for them.' 💛🌼 #lovelillian #ittakesavillage #speakupspeakout #bethelight #raiseemup #familyfirst #dobetter #bebetter #raisebetter

  • I love the 'I'm in your village' campaign by @mumologist because it always gives me pause to reflect on the amazing people I've met on here.

Motherhood can be a lonely place when you're tired (as evidenced here) and figuring it all out one day at a time. But on here I've found loads of you feeling the same.

Loads of you doing night feeds and battling with weaning and sleep deprivation. Loads of you feeling like you haven't got a clue who you are anymore. Loads of you worrying. Loads of you juggling. Loads of you eating biscuits.

So this post is to say thank you. If you've ever commented or shared my words or DM'd me please know how grateful I am that you're raising me up.

And to those of you in my online village who I've met offline too, thank you for the warmest hugs x

  • The idea of 'it takes a village' was very new to me when I had my first and at the time it made me sad as we live away from our families & friends and didn't know anyone local, I didn't even think that a Village could be virtual. Thankfully over time I found an amazing FB Group that still supports me today, Instagram has led me to reclaim my social life & as the kids have got older I have made local friends and have people that will help when necessary.

I'd like you to know that I'm in your village, if you are local and just need to someone to hold the baby for five minutes or need to pop out for a couple of drinks one night I'm equally talented at both! Or if your in my online village and just need someone to talk to my DM's are always open

the virtual contingency of that is so important.

I am most definitely in your village. ⁣
⁣
As a therapist there’s one thing I’ve learned- it doesn’t matter what we have or how we appear to be on the surface, deep down we all want the same thing- connection. ⁣
⁣
Yet we live in a time where we can feel so easily disconnected- something that is often blamed on the digital age.⁣
⁣
The #iminyourvillage campaign hopes to turn these little squares into a positive place for a little while. By sharing your ✌🏽‘s you’re taking your place in a global community. That is the beauty of social media. There are ugly things too, of course, but it can connect us to people around the globe and remind us that more unites us than divides us.⁣
⁣
If you want to join the village community....⁣
⁣
⁣⁣
1) post a photo/selfie/drawing/whatever you want with ✌🏽 fingers representing #visforvillage⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2) if you want to, you can accompany that with an example of how this place can connect us, what you gain from being here, how it feels to have access to people who may be continents away. Anything to do with this global community we are all part of⁣⁣
⁣⁣
3) please use the hashtag #iminyourvillage so I can keep track. If you want to tag people to let them know about the campaign, feel free but don’t feel obliged to ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I’d love to hear from you, please join in if you would like to. But if you don’t, that’s cool too. ⁣

  • It takes a village | Something I’ve realised since having my parents come stay with us this week, is that sometimes you really should accept help, even if you don’t think you need it. I’m quite an independent person. Always have been since I was a child! My mum tells me that when I was 4, I wouldn’t let her make my sandwiches for school! I begged her to let me do it! This independence has travelled with me into motherhood and have occasionally found myself thinking I can do everything. But since having help from my parents this week, I’ve totally changed my tune. I’m now accepting help from anyone who offers! Instagram has also been an amazing place for asking, receiving and giving advice. I love this space. It may sound dramatic but it has been a real help for my sanity during late pregnancy and now that I’m a mother! It’s reassuring to know there are people out there going through the same thing as you. I’ve certainly found my tribe on here! Head on over to @mumologist to find out more about why it takes a village and join in with the #iminyourvillage hashtag.
.
💖 P.S if you’re a new mum and want to join ‘the 3am club’, a group chat where you spill all your baby worries and find your nighttime tribe during the night feeds, then let me know!
.
🙋‍♀️ Look out for a blog post from me soon, explaining in more detail why I think it takes a village to raise a child, with lots of ways you can make use of help being offered to you.
.
☺️ 1 MONTH- I’m super proud of Joseph lifting his head up in this photo! I know I’m always going to be singing his praises, but since day 1 he’s been able to hold his head! We’ve been having tummy time lately and here are the results! He’s only a month old (as of Monday!) Bless his cottons! 😻

  • V is for village. And a village is what it takes to raise a child, support families, and be there for the elderly in our communities. Today's @visforvillage campaign led by @mumologist who set up @birthbetter is about raising awareness of how villages can be virtual now & and how bloomin' important they are. Not just for parenting but also campaigning 💪

I have to be really honest and say that I struggled with social media, as I love a big hug, a smile, I like to be able to see and feel people. BUT I have met some phenomenal women online that I would never have connected with in person. I've been able to give support and connect with people that have read my book, Mindful Hypnobirthing, which has been nurturing and inspiring. Get involved with events and campaigns I'd never have known about. 🙌 I have met thousands of extraordinary people online - and if you are reading this YOU are one of them ❣️🤗 The 🌎 feels a much smaller place and the village? Bigger than is ever was before we went online.

  • V IS FOR VILLAGE...
.
Recent and very tragic events have only gone to highlight the need for solidarity and support in our big, bad, crazy world. .
We just never know what people are going through...and whilst Instagram and other social media outlets can prove harmful in putting too much pressure on young people to look a certain way, it can also be a hugely valuable tool to us too, if we could only start bigging up the good stuff a bit more. The less sexy, but more cuddly stuff that can raise a smile on the toughest of days. That can make you feel like you’re not alone, you CAN do this, that bad times will pass, and there are people out there who actually give a shit - not about where your outfit was from, but how you’re feeling, and can offer you the resources to help if you need them. .
One the things about Instagram is that it’s instant, it’s at your fingertips - and with modern western living meaning families are often living quite far apart, the notion of a traditional ‘village’ has lost its power. But this is where social media CAN be hugely valuable. I’ve tagged a few of the lovely people who’ve supported me (and I’m someone who hates talking - especially when things aren’t so rosy...) to send them a big smooch and a thank you for being you, and being there for me. .
Its because of this virtual ‘village’ that ive accepted it’s okay NOT to be OK. I’ve learnt to care less about what people think about how I look (or whether they’ve noticed I have wonky eyebrows 🧐) or what I’m doing with my life. And yes, I’m pouting like a 19 year old, because why the f*ck not? Because I look like a bit of a numpty? Maybe. But at least I’m a numpty who cares deeply about bigging up the kind souls in this world who day in and day out to out of their way to reach out to, RESPOND to, and care for individuals they meet via these slightly strange new communication tools we now live by. .
Join the campaign, share your numptiest selfie with a V sign and tag some of the people who are in your village, or who’ve made an impact (in a good way) on your life. .

  • V is for V I L L A G E ✌ It takes a village. For me, my online village really helped me out when Tommy was born last June... with no more local or NCT friends with babies around the same age, it was so cool having my insta friends and some other who had also had babies around the same time to chat to at 4am 🤣🤣 Who is in your village? .
This campaign is by @mumologist @takes.a.village - you can join in too, check out Emma's feed to find out all about it 🌈💕🌈 #iminyourvillage .
Swipe right for our outtakes... a selfie with these guys was not straight forward 🤣👍🤦‍♀️ #visforvillage

  • I’m in your village ✌🏻 .
I remember how I felt when @mumologist created this campaign last year with a goal to make people feel connected. Lots of accounts I followed were sharing & tagging who was in their village & I didn’t get tagged once. It was understandable because I barely knew some of these people, but it was uncomfortable & confronting to be reminded me how alone I was; a mixed result of becoming a mother in a toxic, isolating relationship, and living on the other side of the world to my family. As I result i think it was the time when I least enjoyed Instagram, being very much reminded me that I was struggling along, living in a village of one. .
However, I love the sentiment behind the campaign & am taking part (and purposely not tagging so as not to inadvertently exclude anyone) because I want to make a sincere offer, for anyone who feels alone or wants to reach out, feel free to DM me. In 12 months my friendship network has come along in leaps and bounds, and I am so grateful to feel supported by a wonderful virtual village. It doesn’t take much to change things, so please don’t forget, I am in your village 🖤

We know it’s local, we know it’s fresh, and we know it has been created with love, care and, as always, community spirit.

  • To the woman who saw me in Tesco yesterday and offered support.
.
THANK YOU!
.
You saw my struggle and you totally understood. You didn’t judge as my daughter screamed at the tills. As my son began to cry as he didn’t like the loud noise she was making. You asked if I wanted help and even when I insisted I was ok (I’m so stubborn!) You continued to tell me about how you had twins and understood what it was like.
.
Just having someone stand with me and empathise with my situation was all I needed. Shopping is no easy task with a 2 year old and a 6 month old and I usually avoid taking them both to supermarkets but it isn’t always possible. I’m so grateful that there are people like you out there! 💗

My mom’s village was my first example of what women supporting one another can and should look like. I am so thankful for my ‘other moms’ and their influence on my life.
To all the moms, dads, & friends out there, supporting one another, building each other up, and caring about the next generation, THANK YOU!

  • We hoped to reach at least half our goal and we succeeded beyond! Jayen’s parents want to share this message with everyone:
.
.
“To the wonderful family and friends at Early Bird. As you probably are aware, we have endured one of the most scariest moments of our life. We are so grateful that the doctors were able to pinpoint and remove the tumor within one week of diagnosis. We hope this can bring awareness into our community as we were oblivious to the signs and symptoms. If it was not for the teachers at Early Bird, Whom first noticed Jayen’s decline in his motor skills, this diagnosis would probably not have been treated for a month or longer. All the concerned teachers saved his life.
To the wonderful families, Thank you so much for all the support, calls, messages, gift baskets and donations. We have kept every single card and will make a scrapbook for him. You all have been monumental in our journey to recovery.
We cannot wait for Jayen to recover so we can bring him to visit his friends soon!! Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for keeping our family in your prayers. If you would like to know more specific details on his treatment and recovery please feel free to contact me anytime.
Sincerely, Shania & Hendry

  • V DAY • We know that loneliness is on the rise. Social media does have its part to play in that too, with the way it can raise comparison, spread misinformation and from the compulsive way we use it. This was something which came up in @mumologist’s #visforvillage campaign last year. So, instead, let’s cover these squares with love, using this little place to create a global community. ⁣V is for victory, V is for virtual friends, V is for validation, V is for very thoughtful advice, V is for valued, V is for varied, V is for vulnerability, V is for vibrant and V is for village.

  • I am most definitely in your village. ⁣

  • HARDCORE LIFE CURVEBALLS & SISTERHOOD... Lemme tell share with you some recent stories of how sisterhood gets us through life’s hardcore curveballs...you ready for this? 👑 When you #breakup with your partner of nearly three years and the #universe orchestrates one of your besties landing on your doorstep less than a week later to stay with you and cry with you when needed 🥺 (yeah...that happened...more to come on this later and please, emoji hearts ONLY ♥️ in reply to this for right now - thank you for honoring my #selfcare and #healing process) 👑 When a friend’s mom passes away unexpectedly and a mutual friend steps in without skipping a beat to run a retreat for her two days later #likewhat #ittakesavillage 👑 When a friend is fearful of telling the truth to her mom and me staring her in the face with fiery, loving conviction saying “YOU MUST SAY THE TRUTH, not for her, but for YOU.” #relentlesssisterhood 👑 When a soul sister shows up to our weekly FaceTime call teetering on a downward depression spiral and I virtually come with her while she puts her shoes on to take a nature walk and she courageously turns her entire WEEK around. #selfcareishardtochoosesometimes
Breakups. Death. Crippling fears. Depression. Heartbreak.
It makes you go f**kkkkkkkk sometimes. #amiright >>>This whole #ease and #selfcare thing is no fluffy thing. It’s not a luxury, it’s your lifeline. <<< @megansnedden and I may be smiling bright in this photo...and...there’s been a ton of crying-on-the-kitchen-floor-devastated-by-life moments recently. #nojoke The past 6-8 months have been some of the hardest I’ve walked in a longgggg time. The hardest. And I don’t know where I’d be if it weren’t for my sisters, family and community seeing me through.
Let the love in that surrounds you. We need each other now more than ever. You deserve this caliber of love in your life. Period. And not just for the hard stuff. Every. Single. Day.
If you’re walking through heavy storm clouds ⛈, dark days 🖤, grief 😞 and/or heartbreak 💔 (and anything of the sorts), I SEE YOU & I LOVE YOU. This, too, will pass, even if that’s annoying as f*** to hear. It will. I promise. Good things are coming.
