  • Moderate Democratic Representatives and Senators all around this country are TERRIFIED of having someone so far-left at the top of the ticket in their swing districts. I want everyone to remember this FACT: it was moderates that brought us to victory in the midterms. Two of four of Iowa’s U.S. House delegation, Abby Finkenauer (D-01) and Cindy Axne (D-03), have endorsed Joe Biden because they believe he is the one that can not only beat Donald Trump, but help Democratic Representatives and Senators win their elections as well. Mark my words, if we are not careful, Trump will not only be elected, but also the GOP will reclaim the House. If this happens, I not only fear for the future of our party but also our country.

  • This picture was taken when I first came to western, in August of 2016. My dad took the picture. In the picture, I can be seen standing in front of a western logo in pin attire for the fraternity I was joining. The few successes in this picture are actually incredible. First of all, anybody who knew me prior to me moving to Kalamazoo would have laughed at the idea of me going to a division one university. Though I was always intelligent, I always placed my interest in avenues other than education. Going to school in general is a big success to me. I was the first Drolshagen to ever move away to go to a four-year university. I know that my Grandma and Papa are so proud of me, though they aren’t here to tell me. Second, this picture was taken by my Dad, with the girl who I thought I was going to marry standing beside him. The relationship came to an end, and I was distraught to say the least. I began going back to old dietary habits that have always made my mental state worse. After quite some time, and an extenuating amount of effort, I began getting back to my old self. Break ups are always difficult. Being able to move forward is not only important, but it is necessary. This taught me so many more lessons. I began diving into the waters of truly loving myself for who I was, regardless of anyone or anything else. The love I grew for myself throughout that entire breakup process taught me a way of living that I will never abandon. #wmu #success #english1050 #sweetgrapes #joe

  • This picture was taken at the ending of the 2019 Spring semester. I took the picture at my friend’s house. In the picture, me and Derrick can be seen smoking a cigar. We were celebrating him graduating college. When I moved to Kalamazoo, Derrick was one of two people I knew in Kalamazoo. Since we first started becoming friends, I have never once even come close to questioning how great of a friend this man is. There are a few successes in this picture. Firstly, and most obviously, him graduating college is a success. He always held a job, and even gave up joining a fraternity due to the time and money it would have costed him. He always paid his own bills. I won’t lie, when I first met Derrick, I thought he was lying about covering his own path. I couldn’t see how someone could possibly do so much, and still be so focused on actively taking the positive, healthy path in life. It will always be the main reason why I now find myself able to do the same thing. What makes mine and Derricks relationship so sound is somewhat amazing. We always push each other to do positive things for our lives. This is a huge success in friendship to me. Derrick has helped me to become a man closer to what I’ve always known I could and want to be, and that is the best thing a friend can do for a friend. I am always there to support Derrick and be his hype-man whenever he so needs. #wmu #success #english1050 #sweetgrapes #joe

  • This is a picture I took in my room, in my bed. Me and my princess Bella were laying around, just enjoying the art of truly relaxing. It was taken in early January of 2020. Bella is actually my Dad’s dog now, but I look after her quite often. Me and my dad have an odd fifty-fifty schedule in place due to his travel schedule for work. Originally, Bella was supposed to be mine. The first success in this situation comes from the fact that I was able to decide that even though I couldn’t imagine my life without Bella, she would truly be happier with my Dad. He has plenty of yard for her to run her pretty self around. This was a success to me. Being able to love something so much, yet let it go in the name of that loved thing’ best interest, is huge. There are quite a few more successes in this situation for me. Being able to afford Bella is something that is incredibly important to me. Being able to set money aside from every paycheck in order to buy her new toys, food, treats, and all of the other things that go with looking after a dog. I never once let her go without something in order for me to go with something I wanted. I also never had to go without something I needed in order to provide for the princess. #wmu #success #english1050 #sweetgrapes #joe

  • This is a picture that was taken in the summer of 2019. It was taken by me at the Dean of Western’s house, a man in which is a customer of the business I work for. The picture was taken in order to capture the lines I placed on his yard with the lawnmower I operate. Customers want their lawns to look good when they pay obnoxious amounts of money to have a professional come out every week to cut it. This picture represents success in a very literal sense. This is a well-cut yard, with close to flawless lines. I did it in record timing as well, which is also a huge part of my job. Know-how and speed are the two factors to look at when depicting how well someone cuts grass commercially. Demanding perfection is a big part of success to me. I truly believe successful people do all things with the intentions of finishing them to the absolute best of their ability. To add to the success, being able to perform duties at the height of one’s capability at an efficient rate is exponentially dire. I performed this cut in thirty minutes, breaking the previous record of thirty-nine minutes. Doing this showed to my boss a few things. Firstly, I’m good at my job. Another success I see in this situation was after I finally considered myself to be good at what I do. I refused to allow myself to become complacent. Even though it is just cutting grass, and even though I am good at it, I still strive on every yard I cut to learn something in order to make me better. #wmu #success #english1050 #sweetgrapes #joe

  • My third picture of success is of a Fossil watch I recently purchased. I bought this watch at Tanger Outlet Mall, out by Grand Rapids. I took the picture when I got home, on Wednesday, January 8th, 2020. Me and my friend went there for something to do last week. It’s funny that this watch became a success story because I did not go there with any intentions of buy a watch. I had no intentions of really buying anything. It is that same lack of intention that makes this watch a success story. The success about this watch is comprised of a few different things. One, I got an amazing deal on the watch. Second, being able to hold a job and save money so that when I come across such a good deal on something I like, I can take advantage of it. Back in the day, I was the textbook definition of someone who lived paycheck to paycheck. I never saved any of my money, and rarely even had any money left over from my previous check when receiving a new one. I was incredibly immature with finances. I was always taught, money comes and goes, by family never leaves. Though I still believe that statement to be true, I can now recognize the amount of serenity that can be found in building a financial safety net. After learning this lesson, I was then able to have a safety net savings, and a different savings account enabling me to have money to spend if I so please to. I can now trust my decision in spending that money. I have become careful in my spending, ensuring to erase any possibility of the dreaded buyer’s remorse. #wmu #success #english1050 #sweetgrapes #joe

  • This picture was taken in my apartment on Monday, January 15th, 2020. I took the picture, just after my new internet connection got hooked up in my room. It speaks for success to me because of the situation within my apartment. Since I have moved in, internet has been canceled repeatedly, and in attempts to save money, I repeatedly attempted to share internet with all of my roommates, who do not get along. After the third weekend in a row without internet, an action taken out of spite of the other roommates, I had finally become fed up. I knew that I was getting my own internet package, and I was not allowing a single other person on it. This choice means success to me because it resembles breaking free from the shackles others can put on our sub conscious mind. I have spent a large portion of my life allowing other peoples’ actions and feelings to largely influence me and my actions Breaking free from that, realizing that I do not owe them anything, and taking actions in order to benefit myself, was the best thing I could have possibly done. am finally freed from forced trips to the library for a fifteen-minute assignment. I no longer have to drive to a friends or campus to just send a simple email. Lastly, I never again have to use my hotspot to turn in an assignment. #wmu #success #english1050 #sweetgrapes #joe
