Visited the John & Yoko exhibition this weekend, the military jacket he’s wearing in this video was there! For all those replying to the story, it’s inside the Museum of Liverpool, I’d highly recommend it! Quite touching ✌️
John Lennon - Imagine (1972)
Sir James Paul McCartney invented Heavy Metal with this song! The Beatles has been influenced modern music
▶Helter Skelter - The Beatles
Album: The Beatles (White Album)
Genres: Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Proto-Punk
The song was a product of McCartney's attempt to create a sound as loud and dirty as possible. The Beatles' recording has been noted for its "proto-metal roar" and is considered by music historians to be a key influence in the early development of heavy metal. McCartney was inspired to write the song after reading a 1967 Guitar Player magazine interview with the Who's Pete Townshendwhere he described their latest single, "I Can See for Miles", as the loudest, rawest, dirtiest song the Who had ever recorded. McCartney then "wrote 'Helter Skelter' to be the most raucous vocal, the loudest drums, et cetera" and said he was "using the symbol of a helter skelter as a ride from the top to the bottom; the rise and fall of the Roman Empire – and this was the fall, the demise.
“My mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school they asked me to write down what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment & I told them they didn’t understand life.” - John Lennon
Micheal jackson's and Paul Mccartneys feud about music rights.
In 1982 McCartney featured on Jackson's record-selling Thriller album, collaborating on the duet The Girl Is Mine. The pair teamed up again for Say Say Say, and a third duet, The Man, both of which appeared on McCartney's fifth solo album
Later at the dinner table Paul said that the way to make money was to buy the rights of songs, „Great. Good joke.” was what Jackson responded. But 4 years later he buys ATV Music for 47,5 million and got the rights of over 4000 songs, including 251 beatles songs.
Paul McCartney confessed it was a crabby thing to do, "Buying the rug from under a friends feet." But also said that he doesn't blame his younger friend for doing it.
In the early 80s Paul had the chance to buy all his songs back from A TV music for 40 million but he didn't want to claim all the Lennon-Mccartney songs so he went to Yoko Ono, Lennons wife, to buy the rights together. But she didn't want to pay that much money. So Jackson did.
"He was always saying, 'I wonder what Paul is doing.' When John and I were together, and this is about a week or two before our relationship ended, I remember him saying, 'Do you think I should write with Paul again?' I said, 'Absolutely. You should because you want to. The two of you as solo performers are good, but together you can't be beaten." -May Pang talking about John Lennon
