Let me tell you how I know God is real & with me.

He was actually on point! BUT after walking for 10 min through the City, I approached three corridors. I didn’t know where to go. It was similar to the Medina in Morocco. You’ll get lost for hours. If you haven’t been to the Old City, it’s just like the Bible movies. A maze!
I didn’t feel comfortable walking any further & getting lost. It was 6PM, raining & a Sunday. I wasn’t going to find much help at that point.

I felt very discouraged. I was sad & hurt. I started praying to God for help. I said to God... “God, I came all this way. I can’t turn back now. I need your help”! Immediately after praying, I turned around to leave the City. Behind me, however, were two young women. They were looking down at a cellphone. I simply asked them if they knew where the Church of the Holy Sepulcher was. They responded “We are headed there now”! WON’T HE DO IT!

They were American. They had been living in Israel for the past 2 months with several other young people on their own spiritual quest. They had downloaded an App which allows you to access maps any where in the World without WIFI. So we were able to find the Church. They had actually previously visited the Church before. But again, it is very difficult to find the Church without a map, unless you’re a local or have been several times.

The Church was closing at 6:30PM, which at that time was less than 30 minutes. So we made it to the Church just in time! Their other friends arrived shortly after - and they all encouraged me to walk around & experience everything the Church had to offer within our limited time. In fact, they waited for me! They were my five Guardian Angels sent by God.

I bonded with all of them instantly. I actually fell in love with them! And I was so amazed by their courageousness & commitment to the Lord.
Upon exiting the City, I still was unsure about how to get home. However, my soul, my mind & body were all at peace with my new friends.

Let me tell you how I know God is real & with me.

This afternoon I decided to travel to Old City. It’s 1 hour away from where I’m staying. I was totally unprepared. I didn’t know what to expect when I arrived.
I just knew in my heart that going to the Old City was where I wanted to be. I came to Israel for a purpose - and I was determined to accomplish that purpose.

I decided to catch a sherut to Jerusalem. It’s a small, shared bus that carries roughly 12 ppl. It’s very cheap. Only 24 shekels which is less than 10 USD. However, during the ride to Jerusalem it started to get dark & rain very heavily. I instantly started to regret my decision.

By the time I arrived in Jerusalem it was about 5PM, freezing & pouring raining. I didn’t have an umbrella or heavy coat. Just a leather jacket & hijab over my head.

I had NO internet service. I couldn’t access google maps. It was absolutely no way for me to find my way around. But my initial plan was to rely on others & ask around for directions.

When we were approaching the last bus stop closer to the Old City, a gentleman I befriended on the sherut told me he didn’t feel it was safe for me to walk around the City at night. He suggested I turn back.
This lead me to become more nervous. Also, no one could fully explain to me where exactly I would have to go to catch a sherut back to my hotel. At that point, I considered staying on the sherut & simply going back to where I started.
HOWEVER, the driver said he was going home and I had to get off! #BLOOP

He told me to follow some other women that were headed in the same direction.

I followed the women. But eventually they walked in a different direction. I was lost with no map or phone.
After walking around for 30 min, getting bad directions & slightly sexual assaulted, I met another gentleman who lead me to the Old City. He said “Go down the stairs. Go inside. It will be zig zag. Then you’ll see a left & a right. Go right.” LOL

  • So when I was 12 years old I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior. I went on to get baptized that same year. My father, who’s a pastor, would regularly hold baptism services at his church. On the night of my baptism, my dad was preaching, so he had another pastor baptize me. For years I thought about how I would’ve rather had my dad baptize me.
So on my trip to Israel we stopped at the Jordan River. This was where Jesus himself was baptized. We had 15 people from our group that wanted my dad to baptize them in the river. So I went in with him to assist him with the baptisms. After the last one my dad turned to me and said... why don’t I re-baptize you now. With tears in my eyes, in the same place Jesus stood, my dad baptized me. It’ll be a moment I’ll never forget for the rest of my life. •

  • At church yesterday the reading was about the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist, (the act that launched Jesus’ public ministry), which took place on the Jordanian side of the Jordan River, in a perennial riverbed called the Wadi Al-Kharrar.🙏🏻 The imagery brought me back to our trip to Jordan where we visited the holy sites, as well as the Dead Sea and the capital, Amman. It’s the perfect combination of the historical, spiritual and cultural.⛪️🕍 People were jumping into the river, clearly moved by the religious importance of their journey. 🙏🏻The baptismal site of Bethany Beyond the Jordan is about 40 mins from #Amman. ⛪️ Shown here is the Greek Orthodox Church of John the Baptist, located next to the river. (There are seven monasteries in the area.). Also shown is the Archaeological Park and the last two are photos of the hotel we recommend. 🙏🏻This trip is one of the more important and memorable you will take. 📩Contact us for more information. #jordan #holyland #holylandtour #jordanriver #jesus #baptism #christmas #advent #travel #middleeast #discoverjordan #travelphotography #jordantravel #holysites #wadialkharrar #kimhopkinstravel #kimhopkins #takethejourney
