Goodbye Taiwan! 🇹🇼 You’ve officially stolen my heart and ranked in my top 5 favorite places to visit EVER! When I was approached to do this trip in honor of my late mother... all I could think is how I could perfectly represent the things we wanted to do and places we wanted to see together. Never in a billion years would I think that it would turn out to be so much more than “the vacation ” we dreamed of traveling together and experiencing. It was such an emotional trip where at times I’d randomly break out in tears thinking of how much I wished my mommy Joon was here to enjoy it with me. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
The painful emotions were always quickly comforted by the hospitality & kindness of Taiwanese locals... the incredible natural surroundings... the positive energy and feeling of freedom here. I could not have created a better memorial trip in honor of my mom @bitajoonie in any other place, as Taiwan was a perfect destination to honor her.
Thank you so much for following my journey this past month, I truly appreciate all your support & kind words throughout about my mom! 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛 Remember... life isn’t always happy & pretty, especially behind the scenes on this app. The grieving a lot of us are going through is a permanent part of us now that we learn to adapt & live with... never forget or move on from. A huge portion of this trip was to show any of you out there who are grieving a loved one... it’s OKAY! It’s ok to be sad and miss them, to honor them and talk about them, to talk about being sad/pain because being human doesn’t mean you have to be happy 100% of the time. Remember to treat each other with love & kindness because not everyone is at the same state in their lives as you may be! Thanks again for joining me on my #BitaDiaries trip! Big hug! 🦋
WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE SHRINE/TEMPLE LOCATED!? ⛩🕋🕍💒🕌🏯Taiwan has GORGEOUS temples/shrines you can discover all over! From small neighborhood shrines to massive temples like this one in Keelung there are so many you can visit and admire the details as the calming scent of incense flows through your nostrils. When I travel I love to visit spiritual sites to feel more energy from my mom @bitajoonie... I’m not religious at all but I do believe in spiritual connection through energy & most of these places contain it... there’s always a sign from her around them. We arrived mid day on a Tuesday and the massive Zhuputan Temple was empty other than a dog there to greet us. 🐕 Don’t you love it when you’re the only person at a special place!? So many places like this in Taiwan, so I’ve compiled my itinerary into a list for you below! Do you plan excursions during your vacations? If you’re just tuning into my trip, I’m currently in Taiwan 🇹🇼 in honor of my late mommy joon, @Bitajoonie. This trip is dedicated to all things “Bita” and excursion planning was her expertise whenever she was creating a family trip itinerary! Of course I had to plan a few day trip excursions outside of Taipei as my mom & I always talked about seeing more than just the capital city. Keelung was on the top of our excursions list and it defo was all that I had imagined. The food market, friendliest locals, gorgeous colorful harbor and incredible city vibe would be my moms dream excursion day trip!
Keelung was also so special because I was getting signs EVERYWHERE from my mom... empty temples, orchids in my face every stop I made, loving dogs that followed me during hikes (you know what I mean of you remember my Vietnam guides), dragon flies and yellow butterflies following me from tree to tree! My mom was all over sending me energy that she was with me and I think she loved Keelung as much as I did! 🌈👩👧
📍TELL ME: Have you ever visited a city you just connected with and felt such amazing positive energy from? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks so much for continuing this journey with me in honor of my Mom! It truly means SO much to be able to be here for her and have you get to know her through my stories. 💋 📸 @catchfiftytwo #bitadiaries
At Keelung there was a huge festival celebrating the dead, very much like the Japanese do, but with much more flare. There was music, flashy cars, floats, performances, and above all lots and lots of food.
