  • Finding the one living tree in the Dead Sea doesn’t sound so difficult does it? Well, when you realise it’s a 15 minute swim through water like treacle (the salt levels keep trying to make you float), you’ll see it isn’t as easy as it seems!

This is one of those places that no one would have heard of if it wasn’t for Instagram. I’ve thought a lot about the good and bad of Insta recently, and whilst it can be a pretty depressing place, I like to think of the really cool places you can find from this platform.

Yes, the algorithm’s crap (less than half my followers will see this), yes it can be a narcissistic place and yes, I post nowhere near as much as I used to, but it did used to be a place of creativity and where unique places like this were shared without the fear of reprisal (yep, there’s a non-geo tag, don’t tell people where places are movement in an attempt to stop them getting trashed).

Whilst it isn’t perfect, I can still see some good in Instagram. How about you? 🇮🇱

⠀

  • If I had to sum up my entire Glacier NP trip in one word, it would have to be “weather”. We experienced just about everything including clear blue skies, sideways hail, mammatus clouds, rainbows, gorgeous colors at sunrise/set, 50+ mph winds and so much more! I was pretty amazed and will end up with almost as many shots from Glacier in my portfolio from a three day trip as I do from Rainier after spending three years there.... .
.
Anyways, this shot is nothing new composition wise, but I have always wanted a photo of a rainbow in the mountains and figured it would never happen since I’m usually shooting towards the sun or sidelight. I started out this morning at a different location and just barely made it to this comp in time as the rainbow was starting to fade. I had already explored around this spot a little and had a general idea of where I would want to shoot if the time came. That was extremely lucky as I had less than two minutes to shoot this rainbow from the time I set up my camera until it faded away! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I offer group workshops and post processing education. Visit link in bio for more info

Shot Info:
Nikon D610 w Nikon 16-35 f/4
Feisol Tournament CT-3442 Rapid Tripod
ISO50, 16mm, f/11, .4s
