me on the phone talking about you cause you made an assumption about somebody’s pronouns. hello! Today is #internationalpronounsday ! Remember to not make assumptions about people’s pronouns and ask! When you make an assumption about someone’s pronouns, you are essentially making the decision for them and not giving them the freedom they deserve and telling them that you know better. People assume my pronouns frequently and misgender me as She, which is a pronoun I do not use. Please just ask! Condition yourself to not make assumptions. Normalize things like putting your pronouns in your bio on your social media. And practice! If you mess up, don’t seek an apology, that makes it about you! #pronouns#trans#transisbeautiful#lgbtqia#lgbt#nonbinary#genderqueer
Hello IV League!
Many of you have asked us if we had a P.O. Box that you lovelies could send things to. Well here is your answer! It’s OPEN!
P.O Box 1039 Toronto Dominion
Toronto, ON, Canada
Boobs are gender neutral, small waists are gender neutral, hips are gender neutral. Your flat chest is gender neutral, broad shoulders are gender neutral, "masculine" features are gender neutral. Those two orbs of fat doesn't make you a girl and a dipping waist line doesn't make you a lady, that scruff on your face doesn't make you a man because nothing makes you anything. Everything about you is gender neutral, and anything else that society says deserves a blind eye. Physical attributes has never amounted to much, and it surely doesn't need to now.
Body dysmorphia sucks, and society sucks worse. You are what you want to be, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Intersex people often have chromosomes that do not “match up” with their external genitalia. Some doctors try to argue that chromosomes = gender, with the idea that if they test for an intersex infant’s chromosomes, they can recommend #intersex surgeries to make the appearance of the genitals “match” the chromosomes. Talk about putting the cart before the horse... 😵🐴 Intersex adults have called for change for decades, but those in power continue to defer to the medical specialties who perform the surgeries.
Intersex people have a right to make decisions about their own bodies and sexual futures, just like anyone else. When industries won't stop doing harm, we take to policy. Legislation like #SB201 in California, re-launching in Jan 2020, would finally give intersex adults the chance to make their own decisions about their bodies. We're proud to continue this fight with @eqca, @aclu_norcal, and all of our other allies. Make sure you're signed up for bill email via the link in our bio! http://ow.ly/O4Vn50wHOf8 💛💜 #DelayIsOkay#Intersexy#LGBTQIA#XOXY
It’s International Open Access Week and the theme is “Open for Whom? Equity in Open Knowledge”. Wikipedia is one of thee best online encyclopedias (that I use frequently in my personal and professional life) but it of course, is a reflection of who volunteers to edit its content. This Edit-a-Thon, like many others, was intentional in addressing the gap of information on Wikipedia related to underrepresented groups. There are many ways to get involved with editing Wikipedia to be a better reflection of and encyclopedic knowledge base for communities that deserve more visibility. Hit me up and I’ll pass info along! #OAWeek2019#OpenAccess#Librarians#LibrariansofInstagram#Wikipedia#LGBTQIA#UWMadison#editathon#Canva#glassnickelpizzaco
UCLA LGBTQ Studies and QScholars of UCLA is hosting the 7th annual QScholars Undergraduate Symposium! We are centering the visions and imaginations of QTBIPOC (Queer Trans Black Indigenous People of Color) to build the Symposium in the lens of healing, transformative, and disability justice.
Bring your dreams and ideas to our Undergraduate QScholar Community meetings!
Every meeting will include a healing justice practice space (meditation, art, journaling, or energetic body work) and a free dinner. We will provide an introduction to QScholars, the QScholars Undergraduate Symposium, and envision the symposium’s theme and accessibility.
Join us! We are so excited to connect with you all and build a community committed to centering radical Queer scholarship, activism, and intergenerational healing.
