  • This girl has been in the testing stage lately and it makes me feel like all I do all day is raise my voice at her, which I hate. She is truly hitting those terrible twos and I’ve heard the threenager stage is even worse... send help. It has been a constant battle especially now that she is starting to do things she’s not supposed to when I’m trying to nurse her little sister.

Who is going through this with their toddler or has been through it and can offer advice?! How did you get them to listen and not be so defiant? When she’s not being naughty she is the sweetest little sour patch 🤣

  • This is basically what photos with Liv are like lately, luckily she’ll stand next to me if I bribe her with a sip of my pumpkin coffee. Hence the sweet “pleaaaase mama” look on her face. She’s lucky she’s the cutest.
Also, I have been living in these maternity leggings lately, they are so soft and supportive. I swear every mama needs these, pregnant or not. Luckily @blanqigirls is having a major sale right now, 40% off our maternity styles and hipster legging from their everyday collection! Use code SUPPORT40 and click the link in my bio!

  • ✏️ @common_wild | One of the most powerful ideas in the psychology of motherhood came over half a century ago when psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott coined the phrase “the good enough mother” in his writing and research. Winnicott saw that aiming to be a perfect mother is not only unnecessary but harmful. You don’t need to be the best mother in order to raise your child well. You simply need to be good enough. ⠀
•⠀
Winnicott’s idea is more about accepting this fact: You can only do your best. A marker of psychological wellness is being able to accept that no one is perfect. Even if your child is perfect in your eyes, he’s also human. He may be a bad sleeper or a picky eater. He may grow up to struggle in school or fail at his chosen career. The sooner you accept that you’re not going to be a perfect mother, the sooner you can start to prepare yourself that your baby is not going to be perfect, either. That imperfect parent is the person your baby is going to love, and the model that your child will learn from as he grows up. ⠀
•⠀
Since you're bringing your baby into an imperfect world, it's actually a pretty useful parenting trick to accept that you are flawed, too. If you were perfect and your child got used to that, he would never be able to hack it in the real world. Your job is to ensure that your child becomes an independent person, and if you’re perfectly meeting his every need and want, that won’t happen. An imperfect mother helps her child gain the skills to tolerate frustration, become self-sufficient, and learn to soothe himself. These are necessary foundational skills for developing resilience, the ability to weather an emotional storm, and grit, the ability to persevere and achieve. Tag a friend who needs a boost today to feel good about being good enough!⠀

  • Lake days ☀️
This is summer at its finest - spending time in the great outdoors with the family we love so dearly. El got to play with BOTH Papums and Gammys yesterday. She had so much fun that she’s still sleeping... and it’s already 9am 😅

  • I’ve realized in a lot of ways I lean toward Montessori style learning - and I didn’t even know it 😅 To be honest, I don’t know all that ‘Montessori’ entails but I love the concept of open-ended and independent play. What are some of your favourite imagination-sparking toys?

  • The best of friends💙

I love seeing Matt and Maci together and their bond. I also love seeing how she mocks everything we do as she gets older and wiser. (Which I will probably hate soon lol)

Maci seen daddy had a cup and wanted one too luckily @pogogear has so many cups to choose from it wasn't hard finding one for Maci to match daddy. It even has a leak proof lid and straw! You can get it in 40oz, 30oz and 18 and tons of different styles! Go check them out, Amazon and Target had them in stock.

  • My little boyfriend and my forever boyfriend. 💙 The little boyfriend has some amazing dance moves, by the way. Swipe over to see. He’s a little bit camera shy about his dancing sometimes, so he reserves his best moves for off-camera, but one of these days I’m going to capture him in his full glory! 🤩

𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓲𝓷𝓰 💕 this @costco find
.
.
I worked super hard today. Not only did I have a very productive workday, but I got in two workouts before noon🥳
.
I also braved the aisles of Costco for diapers, wipes and paper goods!👏🏼👏🏼
.
But, it's ғ ʀ ɪ ᴅ ᴀ ʏ , I have reached the 1/2 way point in this last pregnancy and I feel like celebrating.🎉
.
So... Can't drink🍾, and don't want to totally blow those two workouts by over eating junk so... 🍔burgers & wings 🍗it is for dinner and for dessert... Protein froyo 🍧sprinkled with a bit of this clean birthday cake granola! 🍰 .
Sounds like my kind of Friday!!!🧁

  • Confessions of a Mother: “Day One!”
.
Okay, so this is where it all began. April 24th,2018 (the day I found out). Let me give you a bit of a background before I begin. When I was a child I had anemia and would always be lethargic and I would sleep for hours. So when I started feeling like that again I instantly thought I was anemic again. I also thought, maybe the fact that I had been vegan for about a year would be part of the problem. Haha. Little did I know, the day my cousin took this picture, I would find out that I was perfectly healthy. In fact, I was healthier than ever! Surprise!!! I was just growing a human inside of me!
.
I wanted to make it a surprise for Marvin so it took me TWO long and agonizing weeks to prep the announcement. Meanwhile he thought I was waiting for blood results and tests to find out what I “had”. Which would also explain further consultations. Haha.
.
This is where the adventure began! The journey towards motherhood. A journey that would change my life FOREVER. .

  • I woke up last night and found these two sharing the sweetest cuddles. The funny things is they didn’t even realize it and we’re snoring away. It’s moments like that that fill my heart and leave me feeling so grateful for my people. I’m so ready to spend the whole weekend at home in our pjs. ✨

  • Can you tell just how excited we are about Friday!!! 🤗👏🎉
.
.
This week I've been so blown away with kindness! So many new and old friends reaching out, seeing so much joy and kindness with back to school season, and it got me thinking about all the amazing friends and supporters I have in my life. 💕 .
.
Seriously! Do you see it? Sometimes we have to slow down and focus harder and other days we see it right away. There is so much joy and kindness. We just have to be watching for it, celebrating it, and giving it to those around us!
.
.
So let's shout out and celebrate our friends today!!📣🎉👏 Tag a friend and tell then something you love about them, or why they're an amazing friend!😘 Were you a witness to something so extra amazing today? Tell us about it!
.
.
Life is just so much sweeter when we spread the love!!💕 So let's spread some kindness today!

  • Lets talk about going back to work after having a baby. It’s a discussion topic I have battled in my own head for a long time, until a long talk with my friend @therapywithnaomi sparked a bit of an epiphany for me. When it comes to this topic, there is no ‘normal’. Some women choose not to go back to work. Some women go back to work after 6 weeks. Some women take 9 months and others take a year. Some women don’t really feel as if they’ve had a maternity leave at all as they are self employed and cannot / do not want to abandon their business (hey, thats me). The vast majority of women don’t really get to make a decision at all because their family needs the income. So take whatever it is society says you SHOULD be doing and throw it in the bin. Then ask yourself what would be the decision that will make you the happiest? Because a happy Mum equals a happy baby, and that is the most important thing. Right? After putting my own societal pressures in the bin, we’ve decided to enrol Theo with a childminder as of October. We will build up to 3 days a week and he will be 8 months corrected / 11 months old at the time. I take my hat off to stay at home mums, but I am not made to be one. Being with Theo makes me happy, but working, making money and growing my community also makes me happy. I’m really looking forward to starting this next phase in my motherhood journey and to reclaiming time to focus on my business again. Whatever decision you make, back yourself every step of the way and trust that its also the best thing for your baby. That’s what I intend to do. What are your thoughts about going back to work after having a baby? This is a judgement free zone ❌🙅🏼‍♀️💕 Thank you @mummynutrition for taking this photo #MotherhoodJourney

  • Something that’s really important to me is to teach my daughter how to love and take care of the body God gave her.
Ever since she was born and towards the end of my pregnancy I’ve tried to wear less makeup and do less to my hair unless I have a reason to, not only to be intentional about taking care of my body, but also to get more used to seeing myself naturally and embracing it. I still like my makeup and doing my hair and all that, but I want her to grow up seeing me love myself both ways.
Having social media in our world now puts so much more focus on appearance, and instead of letting it stress us out we should be using it as an opportunity to notice more about each other. Instead of telling someone how tired they look when they’re not wearing makeup (the worst 🙄), tell them how healthy or fresh their skin looks, that they have beautiful eyes, anything else you notice. Why are we so shy with compliments? We could be taking something like social media and improving the world with it instead; there’s just so much potential in us.
And words go a longgg way in and out of social media! Someone complimented me at Chipotle (my second home) the other day and it changed my whole day. Tell someone they do something well, that they’re a great mom, that they’re handling their stress well, that you love their witty sense of humor, that they’re smart and you think their mind is interesting... the list really goes on 🤷🏼‍♀️ I just want her to grow up always embracing who she is and what God has given her. And actually, I think it would be good for all of us.

  • Hey Mama, How are you feeling today? Tired, Loney, Fearful? Fear is the main cause of many unpleasant emotions. The good news is, you already have the antidote. LOVE. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last night, I lost my temper with my kids. I was at my ropes end. My husband is a firefighter so he is gone overnight and for multiple days at a time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They were bickering back and forth. It had been hitting that “ONE” nerve juuuuuust right for the whole evening. And y’all know how hard evenings are for kids.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They went to bed crying. I took a mommy time-out outside on my hammock and blasted “Jenny From the Block” because that was the first thing that came to my mind for something upbeat.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What was the root of my anger? I realized it was FEAR. FEAR that we all wouldn’t go to bed on time. FEAR that they are never going to be friends. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And the one that hits the jugular EV-ER-Y TIME... FEAR that I am a bad mom. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then, I felt the Spirit tell me to CHOOSE LOVE. Hoping that it wasn’t too late, I went inside and apologized to my kids. Of course, children forgive so quickly. I gave them their usual back scratch and snuggled them to bed.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Look for ways today to CHOOSE LOVE, instead of fear. Let that LOVE overflow in your heart. What things are you fearing right now? How can you choose LOVE instead? I’d love to hear from you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Happy Friday my friends 💕

  • Repost from @potentiallyanna 😍🖤 .
Have you ever felt so overwhelmed by the immensity of an emotion you struggled to control it?
• 🙋🏻‍♀️Honestly, that was literally me yesterday.
•

I have nearly 30 years of experience with having feelings and I still struggle with them. Imagine only having 10 years, or 8, or 5, or 3! Sounds impossible right??
•

Kiddos think so too. As little as they are, and as insignificant as their problems may seem in the big world, they are a big deal to them. Make them a big deal to you too❤️ because it can be scary to be so little and have such big emotions. •

Inspired by @little.oceans and that’s a quote from her shirts😊 check out her shop! 🙌🏼

  • Starting to wave goodbye to summer...😭 Are you sad to see it go, or are you ready for fall?

  • I’m 104% tired.
3 more hours and we’ve survived the first two weeks of school! There’s a likely chance I’ve overdosed on too much caffeine this week but don’t judge me...the kids are alive and well.
You will find me doing absolutely nothing the rest of the day. ✌︎Happy Friday friends!
