How in the world do I calculate my calories for fat loss?
There are a lot of online calculators out there; some are more accurate than others.
I am going to give you a simple yet effective way to calculate your calories for fat loss.
You might need to adjust up and down, but that is fine because it is always just an estimate.
Take your goal bodyweight and multiply it by 11 and 12.
Example: Goal BW 150x11=1650 & 150x12=1800
Your calorie range for fat loss is between 1800 & 1650 calories per day.
I suggest starting with the higher of the two calories, when you stop losing on those calories, drop down to the lower number.
Protein, this is important, make sure you are eating between .8-1.0 grams of protein per day of goal body weight. For 150 pounds, this would be 120g-150g per day. ****Important note, if you have a significant amount of weight to lose, greater than 25-30 pounds, I highly recommend starting with a goal body weight of 30 pounds less than your current weight. Once you reach this new lower body weight, you may need to drop your calories further.
BE SMART ABOUT YOUR GOAL BODY WEIGHT. PICK A WEIGHT THAT IS REASONABLE, NOT WHAT YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE SAYS.
