A Corrente é implacável, apavorante e totalmente anônima.

  • {Charles Bingley & Jane Bennet} I think Jane and Bingley might be my all time favourite couple!! They're so cute and such goals for me!
Anyway, yesterday I wrote the characters and the plot again for my story on my previous account and I realised how much I've missed this story!! But I'll finish BTW first because I'm afraid I might abandon it if I start a new story! Also would you like me to upload a dream cast for my story? Just to see how I perceive the characters in my mind?💛

  • Salman Rushdie - The Moor’s Last Sigh. “Abraham Zogoiby covered his face that night in August 1939 because he had been assailed by fear, [...] a sudden apprehension that the ugliness of life might defeat its beauty; that love did not make lovers invulnerable. Nevertheless, he thought, even if the world's beauty and love were on the edge of destruction, theirs would still be the only side to be on; defeated love would still be love, hate's victory would not make it other than it was.”

Happy book birthday to Carnegie Hill by Jonathan Vatner!
•
•
What is it with me and books about privileged white people? For some reason, I find these stories highly engrossing. Do you feel the same way?
•
•
Carnegie Hill details the lives of three tenants in wealthy building in Manhattan. Penelope “Pepper” Bradford is 33, has no career or children and feels her life slipping away from her. Birdie and George are married and going through a rough patch after an early retirement and lack of passion. It’s a story of coming of age, keeping a marriage afloat, and finding your way in a confusing (and privileged) world.

Although I put this book down (full honesty here), I am certain there are thousands of people out there who will find this story fascinating. And if not, they’ll find even more reasons to despise the wealthy New York class who’s lost touch with reality. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • We live in a world where talking about a problem, what saddens you, what depresses you is considered a sign of weakness. We hear these remarks almost everytime we wanna vent to someone who we think would listen, who we think would be our solace in the most darkest of times. There comes a point where bottling things up doesn't work anymore. Yes, there IS a limit for that. While those who bottle up beyond limits, would know what little demons are breeding inside, what piercing thorns are brewing inside. Our mental health gets compromised, that it what it is. It is not something ALL are familiar with, so not ALL might understand. But these days, I do feel like everyone IS familiar with it at one certain point or another.
When someone dear wants to share feelings, emotions, pieces of what they call their heart and soul, they're not always sweet and rosy. Not always happy and fun. While people who you think trust you or think you're even a tiny bit worthy of their trust, might not always share frolicsome stuff with you. They might let out the dark side of their lives. And you have to LISTEN. Listen and think up ways to help them. Even if you can't help them, just console them, make them feel a bit lighter, make them feel the world is a better place with them in it, say at least something that might ease some of their agony. DON'T cross question them. DON'T tell them it happens to everyone. DON'T tell them they look "prettier/better" when happy. DON'T tell them they don't need help. DON'T tell them to move on. DON'T tell them there is nothing to be depressed about. DON'T tell them it's a part of life. AND DON'T CHANGE THE SUBJECT as if what they're talking about is of no worth. Don't make them feel like they're unwanted and unloved. This is an inconsideration of feelings. Makes you look like you're not sensitive to conditions others are really sensitive about.
And let me tell you, talking about your feelings, showing your emotional side, venting out to a friend is NOT a sign of weakness. It shows how courageous you are by putting yourselves out there.
You CAN be sensitive and soft while being courageous, brave, strong and strengthened than ever. Period. #quoteamna
