So many of us deal with depression and anxiety. For some medication and counseling are in order.
Alternatively and/or conjunctively many find the regular practice of gratitude to be very helpful. When we exercise gratitude (over the big things and the small) we stop thinking about what might happen or the things we are worried about that did happen and give thanks to the things that have happened, are happening are are going to happen. See the shift? It also takes us from inside ourselves to outside ourselves. So simple and yet so powerful!
The more deeply anxious or depressed you are, the more you need this in your life. Sometimes it can be very hard to start. Start where you are. Start with the small things if that is all you have. Write it down. Write down as many things as you can think of. And keep writing them down. Over and over. Do it it the morning first thing when you wake up. Come up with at least three things you are grateful for. Do it as the last thing before you fall asleep. Three things. Even if it’s simply that you have a bed to sleep in tonight. Do it whenever you feel that wave of anxiety or sadness wash over you.
