I always choose joy. Even though I deal with pain everyday, I still choose Jesus and believe in His healing. Tonight was one of those nights where I just broke down because we all can’t hold it together all the time and that’s OKAY!
I’m annoyed that my gut is bothering me. I’m
annoyed that no doctor can give me a diagnosis. I’m annoyed that this takes up my entire life and has been for years.
I will say this....
I will choose the joy of the Lord. Not because my circumstances have changed, not because my life is perfect or anything to envy. But because God is good. Because my Savior has won my victory already. Because I know how this story ends, and it ends in love and mercy and grace so deep I can’t even fathom it right now. I will choose the joy of the Lord because my God has saved me and loved me from the very start, and today, that is all that matters.
Any one else like spreading Christmas cheer all through out their house? Just recently decided to add a mini Christmas tree to our bed room... and I’m in love. Hubby thinks I’m over doing it. He has no idea what awaits for next year 😉So much for being a minimalist. #myhyggehome#christmasvibes

Just in time for Christmas...what a gift from @wavesandwoodsmagazin !
Since we’ve been living here in Alaska...(not even two years quite yet)...we’ve received many questions about our “getting established”...the what’s, when’s , why’s, how’s...and WHERE??? When we became a 12 page spread in the beautiful “Waves & Woods” (German) magazine...the process really forced Steve and I to sit down and reflect on our past twenty four years together building up to this point...of finally “putting down roots”. They had asked us to submit 20 to 30 photos for their “Cabin Life” segment...we ended up sending 130. It was fun to see which ones the magazine selected to write our Alaskan story.
In these slower, more quiet winter months...we’re going to create a little series of the questions asked in our interview...and answer ALL of them! Some of you are just curious about life in general here in Alaska...others want to know more of the nitty gritty of “off grid” living along with “homesteading”...(and what that means in this “modern” world). We talk about what all that means to us and everything in between...as authentically as possible!
We’ve been inspired by so many Alaskans who have and continue to mentor us. Now...we find ourselves in THAT position (as we humbly recognize that we still have a LOT to learn). Thank you @casesmth@andreasklammt@larsjacobsenphotography and the entire Waves & Woods Magazine crew for this beautiful opportunity...so fun!
Stay tuned for our little winter series of questions and answers...along with some good progress on the cabin. Holidays are fun...but tough to stay focused on any one thing...lol! Hoping everyone is enjoying a peaceful and healthy holiday season...cheers! ↟
Untuk yang pertama kali ke Jepang seperti aku, kalo gak ke Universal Studio Jepang itu kayaknya sayang banget. Apalagi untuk pecinta Harry Potter, wahana bermain ini salah satu yang wajib dikunjungi.
Anyway, happy friday! #TGIF#USJ#osaka#vsco#livefolk#liveauthentic
I know not everyone enjoys the Fall the same way I do.
The way it encourages change.
Pushes you out of your comfort zone.
Confronts you with the things you may have been putting off.
It can be scary, if you aren’t so inclined.
But me, I’m not scared of the death.
Or the rebirth.
Of myself or those around me.
I’m scared of being stuck and stagnant.
But, never scared of growth.
I hope this Fall has treated you well and you listen to what your body and brain and the world may be encouraging you to do.
Something about shooting for the stars. 💫
Pronounced “Ha – SEE – Ta” by most, “HECK – ah – Ta” by others, yet everyone agrees Heceta Head is one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world. The Heceta Head Lighthouse and Light Keeper’s home are circa 1894. Both are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The lighthouse is a working lighthouse. From a height of 205 feet above the ocean, its “first order” Fresnel lens, casts it’s beams some 21 miles out to sea. It is the brightest light on the Oregon coast. It is said to be the most photographed lighthouse in the United States || Beautiful photo taken by @travelswitheresa || Join us in exploring the Upper Left by tagging your adventures to #upperleftliving || #hecetaheadlighthouse#lighthouse#oregoncoast
"After sleeping a few hours, I stole quietly out of the camp, and climbed the mountain that stands guard between the two glaciers. The ground was frozen, making the climbing difficult in the steepest places; but the views over the icy bay, sparkling beneath the glorious effulgence of the sky, were enchanting. It seemed then a sad thing that any part of so precious a night had been lost in sleep." John Muir, essay Discovery of Glacier Bay #internationalmountainday
no shower, no make up, yep thats me, with the beauty behind my back⛰

In other news, this shoot made me fall in love with cloudy weather and cloudy shoots... but it could have been raining, hot and humid, the perfect sunset ever or cloudy like it was and these two would still radiate their love for each other. What an honor to capture a love this special and significant <3
