Oh gurl, you have a little bit of hot chocolate on your lip....Here let me getst it for you ☕🍫 So, I went from university straight into emergency work which was a VERY rough and steep learning curve. .
💥My first case I remember vividly. It was a German Shepard with a bleeding mass on it's spleen, likely a hemangiosarcoma (I'll be tackling this topic soon). The dog presented in hypovolemic shock and a large amount of fluid (blood) within his abdomen 🤯 For my first few months I felt like I was in a glass case of emotion, filled with self doubt and fear. Ron Burgundy can relate but unfortunately I can't grow a moustache quite as majestic 😢 I felt like I knew nothing, like I shouldn't be a veterinarian and like I was going to fail. .
💥What would I tell past Tegan now? In fact, @taylorswift recently titled a song after me, "You Need To Calm Down". I had support, however emergency was like being thrown into the deep end of a pool without rad, comfortable arm floaties. While I had a rough first year, I learnt a lot. I learnt to stay calm in an emergency situation, how to speak to clients at a distressing time, how to work up emergency cases and how to accept that mistakes will happen. I'm not trying to say "Look at me, I'm amazing, number one at the top of the humble list" or that I know everything because no one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes and you can never know everything. Being too cocky is dangerous. Knowing when to ask for help is SO important, especially when you need it and I still need it. I'm not affraid to admit that I know where my limitations lie. This is just one of those posts to say that in order to challenge yourself and better yourself, whether that be success, strength or knowledge, you need to put yourself into uncomfortable situations. Whether this is applying for that job you don't think you'll get, working out in male populated areas of the gym or emergency work. I don't regret where I started, even with all the tears, self-doubt and imposter syndrome because it has made me the vet I am today and I'm pretty damn proud of her 🤗

Anyone that knows me will recognise my complete inability to deal with anything technical!!! However I am very proud to announce that over the last 3 weeks not only have I prepared my stock for the Ardingly quilt show and bought a house.... But I have managed to completely update my website - ALL ON MY OWN. You have to understand that all over Christmas this job hung over me with dread - but I have done it! Web address in bio.
Don't fear my etsy shop will be staying open - but the hope is that over time traffic (and sales) to my own website will increase.
I couldn't have done this without the wonderful @katievandyck - especially her patience and vision of how the website should look. I hope Katie you are proud - I can't quite believe it!!!! #stitchingpostlewes #newwebsite #makoweruk #makowerfabrics #livingthedream #etsyuk
I was just cleaning my bathroom when I had a moment; an “I can’t believe this is my life” moment. These photos aren’t staged, this is really my dusty bathroom. 😂
You guys, THIS is how simple my “job” is ⬇️
I wake up every day & use products that help me look & feel my very best! I buy products I was already buying anyways (like toothpaste, deodorant, shower supplies, makeup, hair care etc.) from a company I know is clean, safe & extremely conscious about their impact on the environment. When someone says “Brittanie you look great, what do you use?!” I recommend Arbonne just like I would recommend a store if someone asked me where I purchased my shoes. I teach anyone who’s interested what harmful chemical ingredients can do to our bodies & how we can protect ourselves & our families from toxins. I help other people look & feel their very best. I watch lives completely transform from sickness & poverty to health, wellness & prosperity in all aspects. I’m constantly learning & creating lifelong friendships with a team of amazing men & women who lift me up & inspire me to be the best version of myself & chase my most wildest dreams at full speed.
CALL ME CRAZY, CALL ME “THAT LADY” BUT LISTEN YALL NO ONE ELSE WOULD EVER PAY ME TO LIVE THIS LIFE!
I spend every day watching my son grow & learn & I NEVER have to drop him off at a baby sitter or watch him cry as I pull away from a daycare center.
I can plan a trip with a moments notice & stay as long as I want without worrying about “missing work” because I bring my phone with me everywhere I go.
I’m able to provide for my family financially while never missing a moment.
The best part is none of this feels like work. I’m not begging, I’m not stressing, I’m not doing anything other than living my best life & helping others do the same!!!! 🤯🤩😍🙏🏼 #foreverthankful#itsthatsimple#livingthedream#truly#thankyouarbonne
Thanks Timehop for reminding me that, I have always been a little bit extra.
Although this trip was 7 years ago, I still remember John asking me if I was really going to climb up there to take this picture. And my response was something along the lines of... “You bet, I am!”
