Hey folks, hope you're all good. I joined the 30 days logo challenge, not to design a logo everyday but just to get realistic briefs and new ideas. The first logo in this challenge was Alison Cosmetics, a vegan cosmetic brand that sells skincare products that include lipsticks, eyeshadows etc.

The brief was to design a eye-catching mark, that can fit in a very tiny area since they print their logo on the bottom of their cosmetics. Their store uses soft colors, ranging from pink to purple and the they liked to stick with those kind of colors.

I thought I combine those soft skin-colors with a subtle green to show the organic and vegan character of the brand. The mark itself should convey a organic feeling: Containing leaf-looking elements that build the shape and form a lowercase a. I also cut off the subline "Cosmetics" because I believe that the brand's visual appearance says it all. What do you think?

I borrowed the layout from the awesome @jeroenvaneerden  because his work is just incredible and he’s a huge inspiration. Hope this is ok Jeroen!

sebagai lembaga kajian lingkungan hidup strategis, kami memadukan dua unsur untuk visualisasi logo kali ini. dua unsur yang tentunya paling lekat dalam aktivitas mereka.

kombinasi unsur ini nantinya akan di coloring lagi dengan beragam kombinasi warna hijau, mengacu pada psikologi warna dan tentunya color scheme.

kami juga menempatkan nama lembaga untuk mempertegas kreasi picture mark di kanan atas.

Warna adalah komunikasi non verbal untuk menyampaikan gagasan secara instan.

Warna mempengaruhi kita dalam melihat kepribadian suatu lembaga, perusahaan, produk ataupun yang lainnya.

hijau adalah representasi warna alam, disana terkandung harmonisasi dan sebuah kesadaran. demikian psikologi warna menyebutnya.

kombinasi warna hijau di logo ini salah satu maksudnya tentu demi memanjakan mata sehingga logo tidak terkesan monoton.

  • Here’s 3 simple tips that will help you improve your creative/design skills.

Short background:
Last year I took part in a daily design challenge called the #FuturPopArt (started by @thechrisdo). Let’s be honest, committing to designing something new everyday for 30 days isn’t easy, however, the outcome was rewarding. I thought I’d share these simple, yet impactful ways on how you can improve your work.

1. Join a challenge
If you need inspiration to create new work or are just looking to challenge yourself, this is a good place to start. The great thing about challenges are that they typically give you a brief or guidelines to work with, which allows you to focus on creating. This is also your opportunity to explore, experiment and makes things you haven’t made before.

In my example, I designed skatedecks (something I’ve never done before). The limited space and odd dimensions made for some fun and interesting pieces of work.

2. Set a time limit
If you’re like me, you probably over-think during the creative process…ugh. With challenges, you have to give yourself a time limit. This will force you to make decisions quicker. I’d be lying if told you I didn’t bend the rules a bit, BUT I was much more aware of how I was using my time and I was able to flesh out concepts much faster than I normally would. By the end of the challenge, I noticed my entire creative process, from research to execution, became mush more agile. Which leads to my next point, process!

3. Enjoy the process!
Remember, this isn’t client work. There isn’t anything at stake. Chris Do said it best. “This isn’t about cranking designs, but more like discovering your own creative process. Experiment. Try things that no clients that no clients has allowed you too so. Stretch your creativity.” Bonus tip…Take your challenge a step further.
If you’re looking to get noticed, what can you do to level up the challenge? I decided to make a book. I treated it as a project, researching sizes, materials, cost, packaging, etc. I even flexed my photography skills and did a product shot which gave me some dope work to add to my portfolio.

A logo I designed for the @logocore challenge. This was designed for a cosmetics company that wanted something strong and bold that could be used in both a small and large space. We have a really important project at Freight First that needs your immediate input. The entire company is pitching a new roadmap for investors tomorrow, and we need a logo design to solidify the presentation. It’s last minute, but we know you’re the best designer for the job. 
Our company is an intermediary freight broker between a shipper who has goods to transport and a trucking company who has the capacity to move their product from point A to point B. There are plenty of brokerages out there already, but we specialize in finding optimal routes for sensitive cargo that requires ongoing monitoring and comprehensive insurance coverage. 
The entire company is built on the foundations of trust and security with our clients, and the logo design has to reflect these core values. It needs to be a design that gives viewers a sense of trust that their delivery is handled by professional agents that understand how to transport cargo using safe and secure practices. 
I attached a few references that describe our target visual aesthetic. 
We’re not looking for a logo that is eye-catching or even colorful. It just has to convey the company’s industry experience and professional services.
