  • Who’s ready for the 4 day heatwave 🤪☀️
The weather has been so crappy recently that I feel like this heat has literally been sprung out of nowhere 🙈
It got me thinking that although we looooooove a bit of sun in London, some people might not feel “ready” for it, aesthetics wise, which is ok and although a mental thing, can put a little downer on things 👀
SO, just wanted to shoutout to anyone feeling a little anxious that they haven’t got back into their fitness routine yet or if you feel like you have run out of time to feel your best self, it’s all in ya head. You are beautiful no matter what and if you’re not where you think you want to be yet, it’s chilled, jump on the wagon now and get training. Habits don’t take long to form and once you start enjoying the process changes don’t take long to see, mentally and physically 🤛🏼🥰🧡
Go smashhhh out your last day of work tomorrow then enjoy alllll the Easter weekend fun 🤪 (< I like this emoji... a lot)

  • 18/162 this one was a roll with the punches kinda night. There is so much I want to say about being in a room, in the dark with a bunch of strangers, things people don’t think about. Things like for people who have experienced trauma, placement in the room matters. For me, it matters. I genuinely never feel safe. Ever. It is a very hard thing to learn. You are here. You matter. You are safe. These are things that I have had to take the time to learn and understand. So tonight when. @duncan_does told me I was moving not just from my comfort zone but to a precarious place, I just went with it. Sandwiches between two of my favourite people, it was finding safety among friends. A few chorus of a Destiny’s Child song and things changed... my sense of being safe shifted to a new space. Maybe surrounding yourself with good people really is the key to feeling safe in this world? Riding the high of the tiny sweep from last night, I celebrate being a little bit stronger and a win in the W column. Let’s go Yankees!

  • From Latin, biceps translates to “two parts”. There are two parts to the bicep, the long head and the short head. Although genetics plays a big role in our bicep shape, both heads can be emphasised via particular grip widths on exercises such as bicep curls, to add more peak and width.

This is where an EZ bar comes in handy as it can place less stress on the wrists when performing wider/closer grips that you may not be used to.

The Long Head - the long head is the “outer” part of the bicep that determines the height of the muscle, also known as a “peak”. We can target this by performing narrow grip exercises such as a close handed (as in hands close together) bicep curls or chin up.

The Short Head - this is the “inner” part of the bicep that determines the width/thickness of the muscle which becomes more distinct if viewed upon from a top down view. This is targeted via wide grip curls, wide enough so that at the top of the movement of a barbell curl, your pinky fingers should be on the outside of your shoulders.

Another important muscle in regards to the appearance of the biceps is the brachialis. This muscle lays deep beneath the biceps and aids in flexion of the arm and can be emphasised via hammer and reverse curls. Building the brachialis not only helps the peak of the bicep by pushing up beneath it, but also aids in creating separation between the bicep and triceps.

We don’t know how it’s gonna go, but one things for sure, I’m going to try my best and my hair is guaranteed to look fabulous 26.2 miles later 😉 tomorrow after 2.5 weeks rest and no running, I’m going for a ‘light’ jog to test this little calf, pray for me! I’m very nervous but hugely optimistic thanks to the incredible Alice at @balanced.osteopathy 🙏🏽🐄

In it’s simplest form Instagram is a photo album, your feed is an album of your photos. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In it’s simplest form a photo album is a book of memories. However, that is not what Instagram is used for 🙈 individuals place a huge emphasis on the followers and likes they receive in search of external validation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An interesting point to look at here is... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Infographics on my page get 23% less likes and reach than photos of me, yet they are saved 100% more than photos of me. If I was using Instagram as a external validation platform I wouldn’t post infographics because they don’t get the highest likes and comments. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, firstly determine what you are using the platform for. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Secondly, this is a similar concept for “summer dieting”, it is that time of year where everyone is dieting for summer. But, why? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because, when you are on the beach 🏖 nobody gives a fuck about whether you are in shape or not. No one! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, if you are like me and you just simply want to feel more confident and comfortable in your own skin that is slightly different. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Riding into the bank holiday weekend with PASSION (today a 45 min spin 🚴‍♀️). Of course training is important but more important is the passion you put in. You have to strongly believe that you are able to make it and complete the distance. •

I guess I apply this passion to the other areas of my life: * I started to save £ at the age of 16 as I was passionate about one day owning my own property ✔️ * I was passionate about building a successful career. I’m very proud of where I am at now but I believe I will achieve much more in the years to come. ✔️ * After only starting my #fitness journey in 2015 - I was passionate about becoming an Ironman in 2018. ✔️ * Im passionate about making a difference to peoples lives - through mentoring, coaching, raising awareness about causes I care about and helping others to achieve their ambitions. ✔️ •

  • That feeling when you take a pic before the gym because you know after the gym you're going to be a wreck 😅 Understanding and respecting the importance of rest days has given me the opportunity to give it 110% on the days I DO workout. 🏃🏼‍♀️A lot of you seemed surprised when I shared my workout split on YouTube, thinking I'd workout more, but when you're training hard, every single rest day is SO important. 🙌 I give everything 100%, and that absolutely includes rest. With a 10k PB at the weekend, I'd say it's working out pretty well 😅 Beautiful outfit by @dare2b_sports #Wedare2b #ad #workhardplayhard #fitnessmodel #fitnessvlogger

  • 126,130,133 going up on a Thursday:) finding my mojo back with training and life at the moment, measuring my stress levels and auto regulating to make sure I’m not killing myself inside and outside the gym. I am not back to not only training but enjoying training. There is a vast difference. If you are not enjoying the process, ask yourself why. If that means speaking to your coach, have that conversation, it’s important and they will appreciate it as much as you.
